  1. I have a Raptor and it is a good all round gun, use it mainly for pigeon with 1/4 choke and some duck shooting, only problem I had was with it shooting low, but a taped on comb rasier sorted it. Only other problem is the glare from the receiver, it is a 26" barrel version, but the length of the receiver means it feels longer, but this is the same for all autos. Stick with it, I think they are good value for money and easier to strip and clean than the Beretta's etc Thanks Dave
  2. The applicant must have been watching old episodes of "All Creatures Great And Small" as they always referred to James Herriott as "Go and fetch veterinary"
  3. Wesman I am near Junction 27/M6, but could arrange to meet you at Kelbrook on Monday if it is open. PM me your e-mail address and I will send across some photos, the engravings ( probably lazer etching !!) look like woodcock on one side, pheasant on the other. Cheers Dave
  4. Edited details now I have confirmed correct Model with BWM Thanks Dave
  5. Try having a look on here http://forum.difflock.com/viewforum.php?f=11 I was looking for some info on the wifes vitara, lot of stuff on for Niva's as well, might get a better price advertising it on there if you are getting shut Cheers Dave
  6. I am not sure you can shorten the Weathercoat stocks, it is like a plastic laminate over the wood, you may be able to fit a thinner pad on the end. Thanks Dave
  7. The only problem I have is the height of the comb, could not alter it enough with the shims, got a rubber comb raiser and it now fits a treat. It is dead easy to clean, only two options for the piston, one way up for light cartridges, the other for heavy. Mine struggled to cycle cheap 24gms cartridges bought at a clay ground, but never any problems with 28gm upwards. The one dislike is the receiver shines like a demon, I have noticed it when walking back to the hde and the gun is propped up behind the net. Cheers Dave
  8. I have had some PM's saying it is to expensive, Tuesday price drop £440 ONO Thanks Dave
  9. Thanks Daveo26 , I have had a few PM's about my description, I will call in to my dad's in the week and double check, he has just had a couple of major op's and is wanting to clear some guns from the cabinet ( I have told him the old Webley 700 is my inheritance though !!) Thanks Dave
  10. Apologies, it is a 12 bore Thanks Dave

  13. As Delbert says the original Dacia Duster wins it hands down for the worst 4X4, In the late 80's I bought the wife a low mileage own owner minter, it lasted three days. Renault 12 engine and box and a bastardised 4WD system. She said it was either the car or her that had to go, foolishly I got shut of the Dacia (to another mug) It had no second gear, rang the only dealer in the North West, he said they are all the same !! Sha has a Vitara 2.0TD now to kep her happy
  14. Years ago whan I was a kid I had a 20 bore Breda S/A, with three chokes, my Dad always said dont shoot it without having one of the chokes screwed on, the barrel had an external thread on the end, so the shot would not damage the barrel, I dont know if the threaded section of the barrel at the end is slightly weaker ? The three tubes were different lenghts so it was easy to know what choke you had, and screw on by hand (not like modern internal ones) If you have just the longer choke, which is full (On mine it was about three inches long extending the barrel by the same amount) , get it measured using a decent bore gauge, If it is a tapered choke, determine where 1/4 or 1/2 choke would be, and get the length turned down, (You can only do this once ! ) Cheers Dave
  15. I got the same one from Brownells last year along with the Gilchrist handle and reamer. Highly recommended. The bore micrometer gets a bit addictive though, everytime a mate changes a gun, you end up shoving the gauge down to check
  16. See attached .pdf, hopefully it worked Pattern.pdf
  17. Probably better to bore the chokes out, you may end up loosening the rib and have to get it soldered Cheers Dave
  18. I have an old book, "The art of shooting" by Charles Lancaster dated 1954, it has some very good charts on boring vs patterns. I will photocopy a couple of pages at work tomorrow an post them up, you may be able to work it out, smallest shot it quotes is sevens, True cylinder, 7/8 oz of 7,s 30" circle at 40yds = 119 pellets, at 20 yds the pattern wont have opened up as much so the pellet count should be higher. At 30 yds it quotes a 60% pellet count for true cylinder A lot of older English game guns had very open chokes Cheers Dave
  19. "In the white" means new and fitted/finished together, but untouched by the engraver or case hardener. Love to see a picture when it is stocked and finished Thanks Dave
  20. My Sporting Shooter Calendar has two 11th of Feb and no 10th, is anybody else's the same ? Looks like I can have a day off on the 10th, but work twice on the 11th Thanks Dave
  21. I always suffer not enough comb height, bought a Franchi Raptor 3 or 4 years ago, could not alter it enough with the shims, so taped a comb raiser on top, becuase it has the coated stock, the comb raiser stays where it is with a little tape. Cheers Dave
  22. As said, I think they all start as just over 24, the moderator adds the other 8 inches on the end. I have a Baikal single which I think is quieter, out with a mate today who has a .410 Mossberg, and another who bought a 20 bore Mossberg hushpower at Christmas. The 20 bore was hard work to swing it on clays , front end heavy, still quiet though, I think the .410 Mossberg is probably the best all round compromise, but being a tight *** I will stick with my single Baikal Cheers Dave
  23. I like the free advertising stuff that comes with the BASC mag at Christmas, go through them with a red pen, circle the stuff you like, and leave the mag where the wife will find it, she looks through it and knows what to buy me for Christmas ( well that is the idea) . Can you send a few more with the next one please BASC Cheers Dave

Para I have a 3yr old magazine out of an X2 that I stripped to clean and lost the tiny spring, sent it back to Daystate and they re-assembled with a new spring FOC, and it is better than ever, First class service from them. As Bob says, give them a ring and see what thay say (or e-mail them) Cheers Dave
  25. Have a look on the Brownells website http://www.brownells.com/ I purchased one of their Gilchrist reamers recently with handle and bushes and a bore measuring tool. Only done one gun so far, an AYA from Full and a half, to half and improved. Before you do anything you need to check the bores with a decent gauge to understand the chokes/barrels, then pattern it before removing any metal (as you cant put it back) Shortening barrels only works with a tapered choke. not a parallel choke Brownells have some .pdf files that you can download that explain things Cheers Dave
