  1. It is 700 acres and 300,000 trees of private estate with perfect shooting backdrops, lots of deer, fox and rabbits!
  2. Went to a spot I have seen Muntjac and fox before and sat in the truck waiting and looking. 20 mins later I looked around to see this little doe sniffing around 70 yards away. I got straight out of the truck and a second later there was 1 dead deer. A bit later I went to another area and sat. Half and hour and this little lady popped out ... once again a 100 yards away lay a very dead minced fox!. A good evening!
  3. I have take a load with my old CZ527 Hornet, using 35gn Vax over 13gn Lil'gun. Amazing round - and so underrated! Well done.
  4. Went to a nice spot that I know I can over look some fox & deer action yesterday. The evening was nice and still and the sun was still warming me. I got into position over looking the edge of this small woods at around 7:30pm, and enjoyed the sounds of the country - a green woodpecker was bleeping away, the crows and pigeons were cooing and cawring and in the distance a fox was calling. 20 minutes later I started to open my flask and pour a cup of tea when I looked down to see a little munty out of the woods - I never see them come out, they just appear, as if by magic! My .243 was laying next to me, round in the mag, bolt back, on the bipod. I slipped over to it and closed the bolt once I have a good view of the deer in the scope. Deep breath and let of a shot - it is still very noisy even with the P8 on the end! I saw the deer drop like a stone and lay perfectly still. A moment later I was in the truck, and on my way to it. The shot placement was a perfect heart/lung shot, and there was a very small entry hole and a small exit wound. Google earth tells me it was a 163m downhill shot. A very happy boy, and the freezer has been given a top up. And yes, I did get to have my cup of tea ... eventually
  5. Would you be interested in splitting .... I like the look of the 70-300 to go on my D90 ? Thanks
  6. Yep, a P8 in .30 cal. Still bleedin' noisy, but nowhere like it was. I bought the gun with the paint job on it, from Chris @ C&Shoot in Folkstone, about 2 years ago. It is an awsome gun, and never fails to amaze how accurate it is, especially with my own home loads (46.6gns Vit N160 over Honady 87gn Vmax's) When it hits a large lump of bone it creates one hell of an exit hole.
  7. Not bad for the first 10 minutes of my outing the other night .......
  8. That seems perfect for what I want, and a fair price, but I realised you are miles away - a 350 mile round trip, and if we RFD it, it looses it's fair price edge! I don't suppose you ever travel down South do you?
  9. I have a SX3 Flanigun and what a stunning gun. You are quite correct, they shoot a lot flatter than Beretta's (I also have a 391) so you just need to make sure you cover the target and not have it above the rib. I do quite good with my flanigun ... even if it is red, but mine does make up for that by being a full fat 12-shot version! I love it.
  10. I love quality, that's why I could never get an Escort. Too many have problems. I WAS Beretta all the way, with both me and the wife starting with 303's and 391's ... in fact we still own a 391 each and they really are fantastic guns. We put 28g shot through them al day without cleaning them and without any problems. However I now am the VERY proud owner of a SX-3 Flanigun .... in full-fat 12-shot version .... and my god .. .what a gun. It is SO good I would love to get another standard 3-shot one for those clay grounds that look at you funny when you pull out a gun with a stupidly big mag tube on it .... if only I could afford it! As with Marmite ...... I love the SX-3 Flanigun. However as my dear old Aunt used to say "it takes all sorts to make a world!" so what ever you get enjoy it. Just don't rush into it and get one YOU want and are happy with.
  11. .. if he is from a disadvantaged background and lives on a council estate he has probably done more shooting that most of us!
  12. I disagree - Pure beauty .... and it is MINE
  13. Just be careful! I started of much like you, and then progressed to shotguns. Never need bigger than a 3-gun cabinet I though! WRONG I pick up my 4th cabinet tomorrow night - another 6 gun one. Between me and the Mrs we have 13 guns - 1 x air rifle, 3 x rim fires, 3 x centre fires, 3 x normal shot guns, 2 x section 1 (high capacity) shot guns and a black powder pistol! It is more addictive than you will imagine! Good shooting.
  14. I liked this one so much ..... ... that I had to buy one of those guns! Full fat - 12 shot. Fantastic. :good: :o
  15. Not been out for ages, part from last Sunday where I had about 60. Nice night!
  16. I use winchester subs in my 10/22 and CZ452. Very accurate and cycle in the ruger no problems. I just cannot get on with any others.
  17. Target shooting! I have looked at this gun - it is just down the road - what a beast! This may interest you ........ http://www.fcsa.co.uk/
  18. Yes is the simple answer. Expanding heads are section 5, and therefore restricted, so must be specified on your FAC .. for which you must prove good reason ... blah blah
  19. Why don't you hit them over the head with the .223 ... it would be cheaper and more chance of killing them first go!
