  12. I took a £10K pay cut 3 years ago when I stepped down from a senior position, my quality of life is much better. I don't allow any tradesmen on the premises after a **** builder did some poor work for me, i refused to pay him the full amount because the work was of a poor standard. I do all my own work, make my own requirements. I have studied hard for several degrees and post-graduate qualifications and I believe my pay reflects this. Not many people could do the job I do so as Thoreau said "A man is rich in proportion to things he can do without"
  13. Local farm shop £3.75 for dressed pheasants. I got 2 brace in the feather (a gentlemen always describes it by the brace!) for a few jars of chutney.
  14. Try Bamfords at Eccleston, they usually have a few .410 in stock
  15. Maybe get in touch with a local college and get a final year apprentice in to do it for cash, get feedback from the college tutor and any other jobs that he has done, it shouldn't be technically difficult and you can always roof it yourself. Just a thought.

    More Fungi...

Hi, following on from the other threads, I went for a walk with the gf today, we are both keen foragers and have spent a few years getting postive identification on types of fungi. Here are todays finds, none are edible, but I have spent 2 hours with several books open identifying them. BIRCH POLYPORE COMMON PUFFBALL (GEM STUDDED PUFFBALL)
  19. Does anyone remember The Outsiders? Great action drama from Oz
  20. I think that most bracket fungus (on the trees) is not edible except 'chicken of the woods' Stick to postively identifying one or two edible types rather than trying to identify every fungus that you encounter. The birch boletus is an easy one to identify if you have a decent book/guide.
  21. Another one for future reference. The 3 owls sanctuary, Rochdale

    High Mileage

I had a Peugeot 504 saloon (showing my age here!) It had done 353,000. In the winter of 1990 we used to tow it with a tractor to get it going and leave it running all day, the compression was that bad it wouldn't like starting.
  23. My 3 gun Brattonsound was brand new off ebay for £70 and my Cabknoll 2 gun breakdown was £20 (s/h) off ebay, a bargain.
