Good point! I don't mind spending for the right destination. I've done Europe on a budget over the last thirty years, fancy a change. Though I know that a week isn't long.

Hi, I've just booked some cheap flights to Iceland in October, I'm there for six nights, travelling on my own. Anyone been recently? What's the best way of getting around? The 'must see' sights, things to avoid etc. Cheers

Hi, I realise that with mortgage rates being high that this isnt necessarily a good time to consider this but I'm toying with the idea of buying a small second property to give an income. The idea being that it will provide me with an addition to my pension when I eventually retire. Can anyone enlighten me to the possible pitfalls etc? Cheers

I've pretty much stopped using Ebay as a seller now. It's just gone downhill. Shame really.

My daughter runs a little 15yr old car as a runabout. I came to move it this morning and when I started it up it was roaring like a dragster. Yep, catalytic converter stolen. Mashed the sill jacking it up and chopped through the exhaust. Why can't these scumbags just get a job and work for a living?

If you go for a secondhand one get a proprietary brand, you'll find getting spares easier. (Had my secondhand Aarrow for 16 years, gave it a full overhaul last year, new bricks, rope etc)

Many thanks for the replies. A little bit of heat is needed to straighten out the handles and they should fold back correctly.

I picked up some ex-army folding wire cutters at the car boot sale this morning. The ordnance arrow is marked on them, but there are the initials CHP next to the date (1944). Any thoughts on their meaning? Manufacturer? Regiment? Unit? They need a little fettling but I was happy for £2!

Personally I cant think of anything worse. I'm in my fifties and I still enjoy backpacking around Europe, off the beaten track etc.

My 'go to' weapon for squirrel shooting. Use 3" cartridges, it's a bit fiddly but place two in the magazine hold them in place, put one in the chamber and close the bolt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the money collected by public subscription was withheld by the authorities from the families and was going to be used to stabilise the slag heaps. Allegedly the Free Wales Army got involved and money was forthcoming, a couple of the FWA were presented with engraved wrist watches.
