  1. Hmmm interesting thought....... my auto chucks cases about 5 yards so I'd be worried about them coming back and fouling the port, worth thinking about though.............
  2. Don't really understand the question..... I've been using shotguns at night for about 40 years.... has this become a no no or something
  3. Tried it last night, only fired a few rounds but there was no movement whatsoever, only problem I had was that as it was a trial I hadn't stuck any velcro on the foreend, so I was fiddling about with the switch loose in one hand. The clip is very tight on the nut and you have to sort of roll it on with some force, not sure how long it will put up with this but I'm willing to find out
  4. Been out on the Bunnies in the dark, to a place where I can't use FAC, I discovered that my old Deben Tracer with the plastic clip that clips directly onto the scope tube, fits (at a push) onto the knurled magazine nut of my old Browning auto 5 12b......... hangs under the barrel, sights centre beam and rock steady........ my father bought that gun before I was born I've used it for as long as I can remember ....and now I find out, been slapping my forehead constantly since I discovered it, in fairness I've only had the Deben 20 years or thereabouts......... now all I have to find is something thats routes the ejected cases into my pocket and I've won!
  5. I'm signed up, hope all gets sorted
  6. No idea....... but if it's any help I have two 'external' hammer guns both have been in use for 40 years plus. When out the hammers are cocked when there is the chance that it may be on the shoulder shortly ie pigeon sighted coming in, so technically they are not left cocked all day but are repeatedly cycled throughout the day. However after the years of use that they have had, that adds up to a lot of accumulated hours with the hammers back, yet the springs don't feel that they have weakened. Just bear in mind that they spend an awful lot more time at rest in the cupboard than they do out in the field.
  7. go into your local Registered Firearms Dealer and ask if would be OK with him if you had a gun sent there, and tell him who it is coming from (this is a courtesy, but if your RFD knows nothing about it he may refuse it). Contact the seller and ask him to send it to your RFD. When it arrives, take your certificate along and your local RFD will sign it onto your cert then it's all yours ..... most will make a charge for this. Have done this several time myself no probs..... good luck
  8. I have a remington with a 1:12 twist, it doesn't like anything heavier than 55gr. even at 100 yds they are all over the place. anything 55gr or below is fine though it gets kinda choosy over long range, for instance at 100yds Remington UMC 55gr is spot on but at 600yds they are all over the place again, Winchester supreme are good from zero out to 600yds, but the only FMJ that are any good through it at 600yds is Buchsenpatronen 55gr . don't ask me why!!! Hope this is of some help
  9. If you don't mind getting out of bed early they're quite easy to get rid of yourself ya know. but either trap or gun requires a little stealth
  10. I use a trigger stick bipod, it's too slow to use as it's intended, so I carry it extended to the right height, just separate the legs and plonk the gun on it, I find it more stable if leant towards me slightly and pushed against, I've taken rabbits off it at 140 yards. whilst it would be ok for further distances I would rather be on the floor with a short bipod for those. never tried a tripod quadropod I think for me they would involve too much time/movement messing about setting it up
  11. Too late, I've stuck it on the market
  12. I've been looking at these on line and I think I've made a mistake with it's value, therefore If anyone on here wants a bargain 4wd I'll let it go for £500
  13. Yes mate I should have mentioned it is a Remmy 700....... Good luck
  14. I'm replacing my 1998 Nissan Terrano 2 extreme 4wd, if anyone fancies a bargain. It's got 115,000 miles on it and is in good condition, it's worth about £1100 Quid and I could polish it up and sell it on autotrader if no one wants it. Instead I'll let it go to a Pwatcher for £750 quid As said it's in good condition and is regularly used in 4wd. It needs plugs and leads at the mo cos if you park it outside in the rain overnight it'll stutter for the first couple of miles, the rear screen wash pipe has dropped off inside the door and pumps water into the boot if you use it, and at the last MOT they were moaning about the brake hoses being corroded so I figure it needs a new set. Other than that it's MOT'd til mid Jan and taxed til the end of Dec. it's a 2.4 petrol injection, is a really odd metallic green, five alloys and a sixth steel wheel if you want it. and the number plate ends in AYA (well I liked it)
  15. I don't know if these figures are any good to you, measuring across the allen key heads of the screws holding my bases on (so dubious on accuracy) there are four screw holes, two fwd and two aft. the fwd pair are 22mm apart (centres) the rear two are 15mm apart (centres) the nearest ones of each pair are 91mm apart. That's as accurate as I can measure them, measured it all several times yet these figures still look odd to me. being an american gun it would be made in imperial but I can't substantiate this . personally I would physically try anything before putting my hand in my pocket
  16. I have a Dell and had exactly the same problem, after trying every route possible I replaced the drive and modified the old one with my 14lb sledge hammer, the new drive worked fine, after a bit of fiddling with Nero etc etc. I'm still sure that my drive could have been fixed with software but I was unable to do so.......... oh .......and after months of frustration the 14lb sledge gives lots of satisfying therapy
  17. Don't do it........ you'll jinx it.... I admit I only run old bangers, but every time I splash out on five new tyres it always bombs the MOT and I end up scrapping it, also never fill it to the top with fuel before the MOT, you'll only be scrapping it!!!!! I run my old Terrano on Pirelli Scorpion st's , does all the mud and is the only car that can get up my road when it snows hacks my neighbours of a treat
  18. Yeah...... I'll give you that... as excited as I am about Christmas this year, I won't be thinking too much about it til after Bonfire night
  19. To all those of you who hate Christmas think yourselves lucky that you have the opportunity to do so, I've got 4 days off over Christmas this year and I couldn't be looking forward to it more. I've had to work through Christmas and new year for the last 4 years, so this year I get to share Christmas with my kids, I can't wait to see my 2 1/2 year old open his prezzies, I've NEVER been there at Christmas for him, I haven't been there Christmas day for half the life of my 8 year old and the other two a substantial portion of their lives. I cannot wait for Christmas this year. Christamas may have lost it's lustre for some of you miserable ****, but try not having one for 4 years against your will, it sharpens up the Santa in you.
  20. I liked your paint scheme Alpha, needed more blobs on it for my taste but all the same an excellent job. I'm so inspired by this and other threads that I've started doing the stock on my remmy 700. It all started well and I was very very pleased, I'm now on the second coat of the third colour and all has started to take the slippery route to the re sanding department. I'll stick some pics up of the carnage if anybody fancies a good laugh at my expense. It's been a real learning curve and I'm glad I did it but I feel it's not gonna look how I'd originally hoped. sticker peeling day tomorrow but I fear the worst
  21. If it is called off Sunday, can someone post on here, cos I'm gonna have a helluva hangover and may not be capable of finding out elsewhere
  22. Don't do it............... it's one of those where grown men tend get a bit of 'grit' in their eyes at the end and the rest of us insensitive types can't help but take the mick ...... always causes problems
  23. If your hotel is near the seine see if you have a Batobus (water taxi) terminal near you buy a ticket coverimg your stay, you will be surprised how much you use it. Do the eiffel tower but buy your first level tickets in the hotel (misses at least two hours of queuing) go to the louvre and Notre dame, and the champs elyesse, there are loads of excellent restaurants in Paris too many and too varied to recommend a few, but don't think that you can go to paris without breaking the bank, a can of coke near the eiffel is £5, the cheapest meal in town for two with a drink is about £30, (£60 in the Champs elysee) coffee and a croixant for breakfast for two about £12, taxi back to the airport £70 , I was there earlier in the year, did a grand in two and a half days .......... I quite like the vodka idea too...
  24. A friend of mine shot a Lynx about 20 years ago, took lots of photos of the carcass, swore us all to secrecy because he wasn't sure of the possible outcome. I've never seen anything of the sort whilst I've been out and as previously stated the light and mind can play funny tricks, but I know that at least one Lynx was on the loose back then, so wouldn't completely dismiss the possibility of there being something else... always thought it funny though, that everyone seems to see black panthers ............. seen a few pink ones myself late on a friday night but never a black one
  25. just got the red flag too , something about my computer being attacked by bloodhound exploit or something like that
