  1. A female Sparrowhawk alighted on our garden bench this morning at 6.45am, only feet away from the patio doors, it gave me a cracking start to the morning, as I studied its form until it departed.
  2. Maybe this is a brood of youngsters you are seeing.........eggs laid in April, would give fledged youngsters by late May or early June.
  3. It's hard to believe, but two recently tagged Cuckoos at Loch Katrine, and Loch Arklet in Perthshire, have left our shores and are on their way back to Africa. One was recorded in Northern France, and the other in the Netherlands on their Southerly migration.
  4. You could well have seen it, only reported today, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there last week , Another was reported in Kent on the 14th, although this could be the same bird.

  7. Unfortunately I was only a spectator as it passed through Gloucestershire, I would like to travel on it though, I've been on a few steam train journeys, Dartmouth, Minehead, Forest of Dean, Severn Valley, and have enjoyed them. All the best.
  8. Yeah it's an unusual one isn't it, I've seen plenty of Egyptian vultures in Spain, but this bird is thought to have crossed from Northern France, probably Brittany.

  11. An Egyptian Vulture has been spotted on the Isles of Scilly, if it is a wild bird, it is the first seen in the UK for more than 150 years.

    Wembley will be at 25% capacity for Fridays game against Scotland, KO 8pm, Capacity is 90,000...........Scotland have been awarded 4,000 tickets.

    I have no idea of Hungary's infection rates, just seems a bit strange they are the only ones selling to capacity in a UEFA competition.......not saying it's wrong mind, just unusual.

    Hungary are also still to play France and Germany, both are sell outs at 68,000.

    Yeah there is a full house there isn't there........apparently Hungary are the only Team/Country in the Euro Championship selling tickets to capacity. 67,000 at this one I believe........hope it doesn't come back to haunt them with infection rates.

Anyone wanting to view this iconic engine, Tomorrow (Saturday 12th June), The Scotsman is departing London Paddington around 7.40am, and making its way to Worcester Shrub Hill..............Using the GWR line it will pass/call at Slough, Reading, Didcot, Swindon, Kemble, Cheltenham Spa and Worcester.   19. It sounds like one of my excellent jokes, but this is straight up, go to Birdguides for verification, or Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust , @Brown Booby added to British List. Photographic evidence, gave comfirmation of identification, One off Swalecliffe (Kent) and two others at St Ives and Lizard (Cornwall) Added to the A List, as North American birds.

The Brown Booby has been officially identified by the British Ornithologist Record Committee and added to the British list, three sightings from 2019 have now had confirmed identities, two from Cornwall and one from Kent, The British list now numbers 623 species.................these are all confirmed identifications by BORC, of being sighted in Britain.
  21. I am a right hand shooter, and have hearing loss in my left ear, and tinnitus, although like others I did not use ear protection for years.

  23. Another Rose-Coloured Starling reported yesterday, in a private garden at Tredington,nr Tewkesbury.
  24. Red-Necked Stint at River Blyth estuary (Northumberland),yesterday.
