I have used Parker Hale and Webley 12/.410 reducers since the 70s in my 12 bore walkup single bbl. Harrington & Richardson, no probs, sorted pattern =clean, quiet kills to 25 yards, no noise hassle with right ammo. Also use American 12/20 and 12/28 bore ( Gaugemates) in my Lincoln o/u s, properly patterned, to 30/35 yds for different situations, on clays for fun, for starting young shots who need a lighter gun, but better pattern than .410, and 28 bore are much lighter in quantity for walk up, at least for me, old , feeble, but determined to keep shooting ! They averaged £10-15 each, last fine, and no extraction probs. Wont suit everyone but winner for me. I enjoy the negative comments from folks who haven`t tried them ..! Good call from Konor !

I`ve used Lincoln 20g and 28 gauge , Premier and No.2, for the last 7 years, for clay and game, at least once a month, in all weather..they`re great ! Fantastic , practical, reliable, well balanced. beautifully made in Italy, not Turkey. I`ve had Turkish guns, did the job, but only the wood is a good as Lincolns ! Hope this helps..worth every penny, and will hold their value way better than KOFS when you are ready to move up..enjoy !!!

I`ve had a few Twelvettes over the years, love them, recently sold my last one, due to failing eyesight ! Two were modified to use shorter than 70mm ammo..same simple mod ! A packer cut from double sided tape, app. 2 mm thick ? (guess, as I never measured ) into a small rectangle, fitted vertically at the back of the shell lifter, so that the second shell was pushed slightly forward into lift position..which worked perfectly. I think both guns were fitted as a temporary measure, so as not to disturb original setup ? I put over a thousand rounds of 67.5 mm ammo with never a problem. I could have made a permanent version with a piece of nylon/plastic sheet, but no need, pull the tape leaves the gun original. Or single-load ? Hope this might help one of you adventurous souls ? An old retired Browning gunsmith I met in Florida told me the factory offered a modified lifter when they realised there was a need, made very few, he`d never seen one ? PLEASE NOTE..think twice if you want to put steel through a Twelvette, whatever the choke size..these are thin wall barrels, made between the early 50s and 1971, good chance they`ll go pop !!! Just a thought....

Mine weighs 5 lb 14 oz with fixed chokes..magic gun, used on walk up game , decoys and clays..no recoil, easy carry for hours ,as an old guy , it keeps me shooting. for best patterns Hull 23 gr #7 works great, but 16-24 gr from Gamebore and Fiocchi also do the job. I haven`t found any downside..shop around, or reload for economy..heavier loads seem to mess the pattern ? 23 gr..ish takes pigeon, partridge etc to 40 yards, head shot on heavier game, tighter choke should give clean kill or miss ! Mick`s price, as always is the best value . These are Italian made ( Rizzini) and amazing value !!! Buy and enjoy !!!!

I have one to go, as age has caught up with me, I can still shoot fine, just cant walk too far , and this has been my go to walk up gun for some time.. I`ve had a few and loved every one !!! Doesn`t owe me much, works fine..p.m. if you want more info ? I`m based in Bournemouth. The gun is a 1966, with a troublefree record with me. It has been tweeked to cycle 67 as well as the 70`s it was designed for. i find 28/ 30 gr. ammo is fine, no probs with recoil. Happy to RFD if needed ?

Classic 1960s , takes 2 1/2 and 3 in. ammo, patterns well with my Magnasonics at 25 / 30 yds. Cutout to flip out empties..new `O`ring seal. It`s nice to report that, as a Dorset based vermin controller, I have just renewed my S.G.C. with no problems, in a timely way ! Admin is now handled for Dorset by Devon & Cornwall Firearms Dept..nice to deal with ` grownups` applying commonsense to their legal duties ! I have been helped on a few occasions recently by 3 different individuals who treated me with respect, and went the extra mile for me..They will, of course, receive the same response from me in our future dealings..so many forces seem to be out of their depth, so nice to flag this up !!!

Great call..my Browning Double-auto Twelvette weighs 6 1/2 lbs, with 25 inch bbl, perfect walk up gun, made in 1966, made for upland shoots in the States from early `50s till 1971, so reliable, NO gas op, so clean the barrel as needed, otherwise, pick up point and go bang !!! I`ve paid between £150 and £225 for mine, just check wood for cracks, and watch the excellent 2 part Youtube service video, and enjoy, then leave to your grandkids ?

I use a Webley & Scott 928 for clays and vermin control/walked up game, weighs approx 6 lb with 28 inch barrels, spot on, can`t fault it. Check which of your multi-chokes suits your needs best, and enjoy ! After trying most ammo available, I find Lyalvale Express 21 gram #7 shot is the one for most jobs..perfect patterns ! If I use 25 or 28 gram, patterns break up, so LV Express, or Hull high Pheasant 23 gram, won`t let you down. After all that, I use a Lincoln Premier 20 gauge with 30 inch barrels, great gun, incredible value for money, and the 28 gauge version is just as good !!! These are working guns, never let me down, and ammo is almost half the weight and size when we`re doing distance..enjoy !!!! 35-45 yards all day long, clean kills is what we want...

I have a 2016 Webley 928..works really well, but same problem. Bought second hand so I pulled the stock, cleaned and put light oil down through from the top ( lever) end, let it find its own way down, also greased knuckles , plus Balistol everywhere else. It eased quickly after say 50 rounds, and improves as I carry on. I`ld take a new one back, but think I`ve come across the same comment elsewhere about the 928 ? I`ve seen one with an extended lever which worked fine..like the guys say, new gun, don`t void the warranty, and all the cheaper guns can vary a bit ? I use a Lincoln Premier as a 20 bore, would be very happy with the Lincoln in 28 bore..maybe a trade in ?

Beretta made a DTL version with 30 ? inch bbl , sold in the States in the 80s..very few about, maybe they had a different Idea of DTL ? Saw one in a pawn shop in Jupiter , Florida about 2001 ?

I have a 12 gauge, and 20 gauge versions, use .410, 28 and 20 bore adapters as needed, perfect walk up hedgerow gun. Only weighs 5.6 lbs, but £20 Pachmayer slipon pad solves the recoil problem..bought for £20 and £40..result up to about 35 yards ? I opened full choke up by 8 thou for a good game pattern, and no mulched birds or bunnies !

Thanks, Getthegat, for the Jack Hargreaves link..loved his shows as did many others..met him once fishing in Dorset, told me the best bits for him was meeting all the lads who came on his shows, and really flew the flag for their sports ! I should add, the corvid deeks idea was from an old guy I went out with in the New Forest..put them maybe 30 yards farther out from your pigeon shells, really gave the pigeons confidence to come straight in, works for me for 50 years. A little owl deek on the fence also helps for corvids. I `m useless with my Acme crow call, BUT they still come to check it out as long as I do it loud ? Just use gloves and mask ( no bare skin ) and don`t move !!!!!!! Hope this might help someone ?

As a Dorset resident, and fairly happy with their firearms performance till this year, I recently found that Devon and Cornwall firearms dept. had taken over the Dorset work. We all criticize poor performance, so I have to say well done to them for a fine, positive and productive response to problems caused by the transfer of information between the forces. A pleasure to deal with, good advice, listened to my worries, and came through on the two occasions with renewal problems. Never thought I`d post this, but we have to flag up anything like this, so they know we appreciate being treated like human beings ! Just a bit of common sense !!!

Getting old and feeble, I`ve reverted to my childhood , bought 3 meters of leaf-cut netting, made a poncho, with loose cord tie at neck, tripod seat, light backpack for ammo and 6 half shell deeks, 1 full body, also 6 flat corvid deeks ( cut from old estate agents sign , with bamboo spikes ) , mix seems to give a sense of security to the birds ). With water and a stick ( also used as prop if I use the net set instead of wearing it. Total weight with 28 bore ammo..6 lbs..versatile, and I m good for 3 miles at 76..hey, keeps me in the game ! I use a net to drag birds back mostly on the flat !!!

My Harrington and Richardson Topper 12 gauge works great ( and patterns well with the full choke barrel) , with my Webley .410 adapter..as a non ejector. My memory is with an Italian single similar to yours, we removed a side plate to get access, and fitted a weaker ( Biro ?) spring..worked fine, took half hour to suss and sort..use the right tools to not damage retaining screw !!! Have fun !

My vote for a starter gun would be Armsan 20 or 28 bore semi-auto, with junior stock in the kit..my 28 bore was sweet to shoot for lad or dad, on clays and vermin..check the reviews ? Amazing price too...I`ve also used a Revo 20 bore o/u..too heavy for kids, Yildiz..around 6 lbs, works well, but very tight if new, like many Turkish guns in this price range ? we`re now using a Lincoln premier 20 bore ( 30 inch barrels) bought used from a dealer, with case , chokes etc, nicely ` run-in`, for £450 ish..perfect..maybe 28 inch bbls might suit your boy better , but these are great for the money..Italian made, and again, check reviews ? As always, handle the gun before you buy, and pattern to give your lad a clear picture of impact ! We started with fairly open chokes on clays to build confidence, now find I/C and Mod work fine on our sub gauges..hope this may help . Lincoln weighs just over 6 lbs, Armsan just under ?

I have used bore adapters like this in most calibres, most makes, and turned my own, mostly for vermin control in appropriate size for the job..pattern plate first ! Your problem is most commercial makers would say the wall thickness needs to be at least 2 sizes between bore and outer diameter for safety reasons..I have seen failures, not worth the risk of being sued, specially the U.S. ones ! If you must , then get a good friend to turn a couple for you, or go Briley if its in your budget..they work fine to 40 yards plus. If you get some made up, I think you cannot sell them ?? Not sure . I use 12/.410 Webley from the 70s, and 12/28s bought new in the States for 20 bucks each..all used and good pattern to 25 yards..fine for me. I blelieve Little Skeeters pattern well, but can be hassle to clear the empty brass to reload. So easy to carry small bore ammo too ! I use mine in a £12 folding single barrel 12 gauge ..perfect for the job...

I have a 928 like yours, great to shoot on game or clays, same exciting ? ejector action. No chance to check till tomorrow, but I would expect an access cover ( both sides ?) maybe held with small allen screw..open, pull springs and save somewhere safe, till needed again. On a previous gun I used weaker springs from a biro, trimmed to length, work fine to pop the cases up for finger pull. Hope this may help..these Turkish made guns tend to be tight from new..I ease a drop of Ballistol or CLP into the cracks, seems to help a bit.

Also, I find it patterns well with all chokes supplied with it, but use mod for almost all game, and clays as it patterns best with this..PLEASE pattern it if you are going for live game !!!

Owned one for over a year, only sold it for a friend`s son to start shooting..wish I`d kept it ! Great little gun, no probs, eats any ammo..best with 28 or 30 inch bbl , slightly whippy with the 26 inch bbl. Some come with 26 inch bbl and 2 inch extension, works fine ! Mine was bought with synthetic stock, as a walkup gun on Somerset levels..5 1/2 pounds of fun, 21-25 grms for game out to 35/40 meters, great patterns..just keep internals clean, you`ll have a winner. Check online for magazine tests, as I did..also all good ! Hope this helps ?

Count me in , having started with a shoulder thumper 60 years ago, I find that at 75, I`ve gone back to my roots to keep shooting ! Can`t carry a 7 lb gun far now, I use 2 folding Rodaccias ( 20 and 12 bore ) as walk up guns. Full choke means clean miss or clean kill..not too bad on clays, but weighing 5 1/2 lbs means I can cover at least 1/2 miles before my legs lose interest. I find push-on Pachmayr pads sort recoil and l.o.p..all good, BUT addictive, so also have an Ithaca 66 .410 ( brilliant choice for small game ), Baikal 12 bore brush gun, with factory sights and spark arrestor on 24 inch bbl, and an H @ R Topper also 12 bore..means I can use my recently acquired ( thanks to you guys ) adaptors to good effect..yes, they do work, just pattern first. Not sure where this lot came from, so glad they did !!!
