  1. Where are you located, primers can’t be posted as classed as dangerous goods.
  2. Thanks, I haven’t tried the Hull High Pheasant but it’s my go to cartridge with my 16 bore.
  3. What cartridges and chokes were you using? I started using a 28 bore last year on both clays and game. Apart from the lack of weight and lack of recoil I haven’t noticed much difference in performance over my 12g, price of cartridges excluded! Ive been using 21g and 24g loads with either two 1/4 or two 1/2 chokes in a Silver Pig and Kofs. Patterning the chokes on both gave much better patterns with the more open chokes.
  4. For sale new and unused 28 bore Beretta Optima HP 3/4 choke. Looking for £25.00 posted
  5. Thank you for the reply. We’re not sure why ours haven’t been used, we thought they might have been too high so lowered them but that didn’t make any difference. The ponds are heavily used and we feed them right through the season, some have small islands a couple of which have been used for nesting but so far the nest tubes haven’t attracted any ducks to them - very strange!
  6. Interesting in the uptake. Our syndicate have put a few up, probably 10 or so overall over the last few years and none have been used. We refurbished them and lowered them slightly to about two feet above the water level, still no joy. They are positioned so they’re sitting 90 degrees to the prevailing wind but no joy. We used hays for the packing and put some on the inside as well.
  7. Totally agree though now I load my own, mostly 21g #8 for clays and 24g #6 or #5 with cork wads for game.
  8. I did exactly that and haven’t regretted it. Bought their Gamekeeper boot in wide fitting they also did an extra wide, comfiest boots I’ve had and if you look after them will last for years.
  9. I have a 28 bore, bought it to try 28g without spending a lot of money. The gun handles and shoots well, for the money it appears to be well made. The trigger pulls were heavy 8lbs plus out the box so I had a gunsmith adjust them, now much better to shoot. Im not sure how it would last with heavy use but so far shooting clays once a week, 70 or so clays plus a few days game shooting over the last year it’s been fine.
  10. Is that the Nitehawk seat that comes with a rifle rest and arm rest? Also does it collapse so you can pack it along with nets, poles etc etc. I have a Bergara seat but I’ve had a leg collapse a couple of time so very wary of using it now.
  11. I sent you a message and picture about my Sako 22-250 AI did you receive it?

  12. Last season I tried some Eley VIP 28g #5 steel cartridges, unfortunately with plastic wads, they were “old” stock. I also had Eley VIP 28g #5 lead but with felt wads, putting both in my cartridge bag. I didn’t notice any difference in performance between them on partridge and pheasants, this through my Browning B25, which has open chokes in both barrels, about 7 thou choke in each barrel. I’ve shot Clays with steel shot and again noticed no difference in performance.
  13. I tried #5 Steel last season to good effect, no problem with pheasants and mallard. As I’m now loading for a 28g I’ve got some #6 steel shot to try, anybody else use #6 steel shot?
