  1. Are you talking about the orange and yellow one ? Brilliant fun, my son and I got a twin pack from Tesco's homestore for £14.99
  2. Apart from the running costs of CO2 bulbs, thats an adult size rifle and possibly a bit heavy ? Edited to say : I thought it looked a fairly substantial lump and assumed it would be quite heavy. Gammo do a couple of 3/4 sized offerings in .177 or .22 for around the £100 mark and Stoeger do the X5 which in my local RFD is £105 and looks like it might not be big for juniors.
  3. Sorry, well spotted my deliberate mistake (just shows who knows their Air weapons) Ok so, I might compromise on something 60ft/lbs IF only I could remember who it was I'd seen listing them but yes the idea would be to use a heavy FAC pellet for its knock down power which is why I was suprised to hear him suggest .177
  4. SMK Syntarg has a skeleton style stock which help keep the weight down, cost wise was £99 including a 4x32 scope and a slip, perfectly fine for plinking at 10-15 metres
  5. have none of you had to pay customs duty/import tax or vat ?
  6. have none of you had to pay customs duty/import tax or vat ?
  7. Before going any further I'll apologise if this has been done to death before? I'm considering an FAC Air for Rabbit shooting for the pot, Up until now I've figured on FAC to give me the longer range over a 12ft/lbs and a .22 as having a heavier pellet and hence better stopping power/more sure of a clean kill ? Was in Rayleigh today and was suprised to find the Airgun Centre OPEN, so we stopped in and had a look, (seemed rude not to ) following my train of thought so far I've had in mind the Daystate AirRanger and in particular the Ranger 80  The chap in the shop suggests the 40ft/lbs is better as over this there can be a tendency for inaccuracy ? And went onto suggest "if you wanted the 80ft/lbs for longer range, then why not consider going the route of .177" quoting flatter trajectory and less effected by wind as his reasoning. Your input appreciated ? WHY
  8. I took my son out to the countryside yesterday morning (Saturday) he's been busting to take his air rifle out so he can shoot at something a bit more than ten yards away We got out to the farm which is a new permission for me (and a first) about 9.20am, we walked some more of the fields following on from where we left off the last time, together we were scouting out where the rabbits are feeding and digging, and where they run in and out of the cover. We spotted where the pidgeons are roosting and the bare patches in the fields where they've been feeding and on the way round we found foot/hoof prints in the mud which he asked if I thought they could be deer ? We didn't see any rabbits so we contented ourselves with a fallen tree stump and an old drinks can from the hedge, and plinked away for a little over an hour at various distances, and ashamed to say he was beating me hands down after a while the cold started to get us a bit as the sun had clouded over and the wind direction had changed so we cleared up, picked our tin can up and headed back round the field towards the bus. On driving home, we stopped along side a field where just 50yrds away was a herd(?) of about a dozen or so Deer, heads down chomping away through a rape field, from my point of view, lovely to see but maybe not so good for the farmers and frustratingly for me as I doubt I'll be allowed a calibre for Deer at this early stage in my shooting career All in all a nice morning out in the fresh air and we got home at 2.30pm
  9. ohh isn't jealousy a terrible thing
  10. I'm just starting off with a s/h Rizzini 12g O/U 28" £365 from my local RFD, and next week we're trying another one but in 20g for my wife and 10yr old son to use.
  11. Have a gander over on youtube and see what people can/have done to/with it.
  12. We started off with 6 hens of warren type (bred for egg laying) lost 4 in one night to a fox :o Now have just the two so we get on average a couple of eggs a day which is fine as its only the wife who'll eat them, neighbours buy some, my mother has some but complains they're to fresh. my next project is to raise hatchy eggs and raise birds for the table They are messy, but the poop and sawdust and straw goes in the composter and goes great on our two/three allotments, but be warned, loose chooks will wreck yer garden. But, you'll love their character and comic antics, and as for rats, I've had one in 2 years, Now I have a Air rifle

Im no expert but looked at doing something along the lines of a couple of sheep and/or pigs. Apparently sheep are harder to keep, supposedly more prone to injury/infections and general illnesses. There's quite a bit of red tape to get through (various movement permits)in getting pigs transported to your land and then to slaughter again when ready. The there's probably many regulations on selling the meat products, mainly hygene related I'd guess. have you looked at cost of having the animals transported and slaughtered ? have you considered how/where to get rid of that amount of muck ? Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, just lots of things crop up that maybe don't always get considered from the get go. If you do it, Then Good Luck to you, I'm very envious already
  14. I was told that you're expected to keep the bolt seperate from the rifle, however it wasn't a legal requirement after all, how do you store the bolt of a semi auto if its not removable from the rifle ?
  15. Well, had put my SGC application in and finally heard from the FLO and made an appointment to suit him the next day, the last thing I said to him was just to let him know that I had since put in an FAC application (10 days after SGC application) At that he said that there was no point in coming to see me and would have to wait for my FAC to be received Now, from my point of view, I've put in and paid for two seperate applications at £50 per application, So I think he was a bit mean not carrying on and processing my SGC seperately, And tonight I hear from one of my referees that theyve had the referee form sent back to them asking them to 'expand on their answer' that they know nothing about my attitude to firearms.
  16. Some years ago I got my HGV through a scheme where the job centre put me in touch with an HGV driving school, who in turn found me a sponsor firm who would employ me IF I passed my HGV test which they paid for I went from being a car driver to HGV 1 in five days finishing with my test on the Friday then started driving HGV on the next Monday, I had to leave though as the firm that sponsored me were somewhat less than reputable. Anyways, Good Luck with it.
  17. Well done little fella Will you ask daddy, where did he get the camo effect done on his air rifle please. ? keep shooting and make sure mum wraps you up nice and warm if dad's gonna make you go out in the snow
  18. Has the shop seen your son shoot, Have they spent the time with him that the coach has ? I'll bet the answer to both is No have they got a nice 20g in stock to sell him/you ? I'll bet they have
  19. Those look like ferals rather than woodies ? (Im new to this) How and or Where did you get that camo finish on the 410 ? And roughly how much ? Thanks
  20. the trouble is they always want to bring her back (Been trying to find someone to take my other half.........)
  21. I was wondering how many people use them ? from what I can see the average belt holds 21 - 30 cartridges ? So what use is that on say, an average clay shoot or a day out hammering pidgeons(hopefully) unless you're gonna be wearing multiple belts and wanna end up looking like a Rambo movie extra.
  22. Google 'Air Arms' and have a look at their website for all the facts regarding shots/power etc
  23. I'm no expert as I've been looking at the same question essentially. from what I gather the 410 is quite popular for rabbits and a good tool for the job, to get most benefit of the hushpower you need to use the lower velocity cartridges, the effective range I think maybe less than the 12 bore. Shot for shot the 12g is cheaper to run comparatively than the .410 Im sure someone more experienced will come along and correct me
