Ok, you got me thinking for a moment. As for Mung he,s just being Mung, lol

What do you suspect shaun The only theme I see is I go out shooting as often as I can and get results..
-
I wouldnt do that. But ! ! ! I would shoot fox and deer if asked, I think under the circumstances I will stick to the pigeons. The farmer is well aware I would shoot the fox.s and deer, I would rather wait to be asked, like the rest of my permissions,of which I am lucky to have got from word of mouth only. It is very possble it may end up getting verbal in one of my locals.

The comments are really what I expect. Its the fact that the other armchair shooters are having a good old moan,i cant believe they have the b@%& or sense to understand why someone else has been asked. The way they are going I hope I end up with it,they dont deserve it.

Here's the situation, Having a pint in the local i was asked by someone if i could shoot some pigeons as they had loads on there and they had asked other people but i was told they didnt bother showing. I didnt need to be asked twice and made it clear that i would more than love to. So next available time i was the phone had a chat with the land owner sorted out were to go and were not to go, up there, set up my hide deeks and pop off a few pigeons, not too many but none the less i was there on the field. I packed up and on the way to the farm catch a chat with the farmer, give him my thanks and appreciation and the offer was there again from him,, "pop up any time just give me a ring before you come" So next available time i ring up the farmer to ask if i can shoot more pigeons, the answer was "no problem get on them" and was told the wheat had been cut so i went on the stubble the other day, had a really good day shot plenty could of had more but thats another story, but the thing was i was there on the field again, had such a good day i went the next day aswell but not so good, name of the game. Now i know someone else shoots on there for Deer and fox, (well they have permission anyway) The thing is now the chaps that have permision but go only when its a blue moon and its got to be a sunday, are not too happy because they think i'm after there bit. My oppinion is if they aint going to go and do what the farmer wants to, them why moan when someone else is asked, if they went then i would not have been approached in the first place would i. MY opinion is i am doing nothing wrong in accepting the offer, is it just me, bearing in mind i only intend shooting pigeons. Now if i was asked to shoot fox's then i would ask myself why am i being asked, my answer would be because no one else is doing the job,simple's.. The question is how many of you would have taken the offer

Dougy replied to swiss.tony's topic in Sporting Pictures
Looks like it bottom'd out on the sump. Didnt you see it coming Ive just got in and there are simalar tracks from tractors going over when the fields were wet through, but i did manage to get through most. Mind you some were about 2ft deep, the combine didnt bother with some sections of the fields, the farmer recons he's lost about 3 ton of rape. And you only got 6 pigeon,,, woooops -
Simon it shot pretty well before, but started to go down the pan after around 3000 shots possibly more (new toy and all that) its longer than the standard so a tad heavier too, if i played around with loads more it may improve, but saying that i tried it at 405 yds and was putting around 2inch groups on paper. To be honest you can try and reach perfection and spend more time shooting paper and developing loads than actually using the rifle what it was for in the first place. I am happy with the results with this rifle so that will do me now. If it get a re barrel i may change cal for something simalar to yours.

Its not foam silly Its a scrunch (i think thats what there called) it for my hair, i tie it up in a bun cus it gets in the way when out lamping, and i put it on the barrel to keep safe. B) It was a tip of "Sir" Robert Bucknell to stop scope glare from the mod, and it works too

Yes i got it back from Steve Kershaw back in September 2010 but only really started sorting loads for it early this year so not had chance to use it much. I am now waiting for one to come back from "Brock & Norris" in the next 2 weeks see if there is any noticeable difference, but then i suppose that will be down to my input more than anything

Nice grouping Simon, and well done on the 3 fox's....if i may ask without sounding rude, why the small text, and your finger nails need scrubbing

Sorry no, it was cheaper than your cheap "Fox Call CD's" that your selling.

Been there had that happen to me for quite a long time, its not nice, specially when your told when you return to work after you rest days your going to get a rollokin and this is the call you get when you have finished work maybe hours after getting home, (I work perm nights 12hrs) as been said a word is needed pronto, he has no management skills or manors. When this happed to me on umpteen occasions it ended up with me blowing all gaskits and giving my gaffer a right gud ear full +. Never happed since. I would reccomend a quite word first though or slip another phone in his jacket pocket and put call divert to that phone from yours

Well another one to the cheap fox call, Same as the other night, caller out on a bail 100yds into the field, on with my play list 1 and shuffle that gives me an hour of- silence rabbits squeals and the odd rodent squeals and the odd minutes of silence here and there. Again not long before i see a pair of eyes, a little high i thought for a fox at least 6ft in the air, thats a bloody big fox first though it was a Barn owl as there are a few about perched on a bail, checked through the scope wound the mag up a tad, lamp straight on, Blast its a fox sitting quite happy on the bail,i clocked it jump off, but lost it between the bails somewere for a few moments then it appeared again, heading towards the call. Trying to get a shot on both of the last foxs in this field was like Boar shooting in the woods Croatia style only Fox. Fox----Bail-----Fox------Bail------Bail-------Fox, the caller stopped for a minutes silence so the did the fox, just long enough-------- 195yds another one in the bag. In total thats 7 in only 2 weeks from only 2 fields of about 20acres all using the "cheap" ipod caller and not had to wait for too long for a response, max i thing was about 1/2 an hour
-
The wheat had been taken off and the straw bails left behind,so a call to the farmer asking to pop down for a look, "No problem get yourself on it" The first one taken on Monday night at about 21.50, put the caller out on a bail about 100yds into the field, got back to the pickup and it was spotted comin across from the left corner of the field,if it wasnt in the fiels allready it got there bloody quick as a quick check with the lamp on arrival showed nothing then only about 5-10 minutes it was onto the caller. The only problem was it seemed to be playing hide and seek with the bails, now you see it now you dont, has it gone,no its there------were it stopped just infront of a bail looked over to the lamp. which was only showing its eyes (kept low) i quickly grabbed a chance for a shot 195yds Bang !!! pooo missed it, eyes popped up a few yards away,.Not bothered at all by the lucky escape it just had it was intent on getting to the noise coming from the caller it was back on track, i couldnt believe how unlucky this fox was, it had to be a cub . It stopped again his time it wasnt so lucky Bang !!! Job done. I waited for 1/2 an hour to check if any others were about but called it a night.

The rod is a cheapo Rod Hull (Ron Thompson) 12 foot, i really cant see the point in over spending, the use its going to get is maybe once a year after this, and its a big maybe. It wont be for a couple of weeks or so, i may see if there are any deals at the Midland this weekend for a bigger reel. Yes a mono for the leader. not too fussed about lures as its more tackle to buy that i wont be using much after. The most important part of the tackle is going to be the seating
