Good stuff . Sounds like you are getting better results with the PPU's than I did.

The slide arm on my mates winchester 1200 broke the other day, does anyone know where he could get a replacement one either second hand or new. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Bradders. I am heading down for some deer stalking in august and, for the first time, some fox shooting. The scope I have on my .223 has fine cross hairs and is not easy with a white light and I am told will be harder to see with a red filter so I am looking for something with an illuminated reticle.

Does anyone own one of these scopes? I was thinking about buying the 4-12x50. Any first hand experiences with these scopes would be good to hear. Thanks in advance .

I nicked one of the kids kinder hippo things not long ago . I love them, they are a bit like a poor mans ferrero rocher. Its tricky though as I have to eat them in secret as I get the wiss ripped from me from the guys at work

Chuck them in the bin, you would be better using bathroom scales ha ha. Joking aside I struggled on with the lee scales till I purchased some RCBS scales and it did make a difference.

My BRNO .22 went to pot all of a sudden not long ago, best group I could get at 60 yards was about 2 1/2" I thought it was shot out as it has done a lot of shooting. I got it in the shed and noticed the fore end was touching the barrel for the first time since I had owned it so i cleared that and gave it a good clean around the bolt head and the breach, it was all caked up, I am afraid to say my .22 doesn't get much attention payed to it . All put back together and it was back to its normal self .

I have been thinking about a BP revolver now for a while but I have heard that to have one you need to be a member of a range where they are permmited, is this true?

I have been holding off reloading for the 6.5 till I got a mod for it, well mod arrived yesterday and with the nice day today I had a go at some loading. After loading 15 bullets and trying them down the range I couldn't be happier. With winchester brass, winchester primers, varget powder and 140gr nosler partitions i loaded 5 with 34gr, 5 with 34.5gr and 5 with 35gr just to get me started. Here is the results. 34gr 34.5gr 35gr 35gr After the 3rd shot I was starting to wonder whether I was missing the target altogether with the 35gr load because the hole didn't change so I put a small stone in the hole, after the 4th shot I went down range and the stone was gone and the hole was a bit bigger. Just goes to show that you don't need a super high mag scope, I wouldn't have thought it possible to shoot a group this small with a 6 power scope with heavy cross hairs, I had to colour in around the bull to make it a bit easier to see at 100 yards. Next move is to load some more and try them further out and put them through the chrony to see just out of interest what velocity I am getting.

I bought a remmy 870 express (the laminate stock one) a while back and sold it again within a month. The finish on it was as rough as guts, I was very disappointed with it. My old winchester 120 that had started life on a salmon farm looked better than the remmy did after a couple of weeks doing very little.

Just started watching it, I think its great and can honestly say when its on I am "happy happy happy".

The gun that regret selling the most by far was a 28" side by side .410 choked 3/4 and full, I think it was a Rota Luciano. I loved that gun. It was so well balanced and it fitted me like a glove. I always used express 2 3/4" no6 as they seemed to kill just as well as the 3" shells. When using the gun a lot I could kill rabbits just as far away as I could with the 12, or put it like this, I had as many pricked rabbits that the dog had to run up with the 12 than I did with the .410. There was one outing with the .410 that I will always remember, I was out shooting rabbits on a bitterly cold frosty day when I spotted 3 mallard dropping in to a ditch up the valley. I hadn't had the gun that long and wondered whether I should bother stalking up to them or not. I thought I would give it a go, I got to within 25 yards of the ditch when up went the ducks along with the .410, the first shot took down 2 and the second shot bagged the the third, all dead. I was well chuffed. The best fun was shooting snipe with the .410, very challenging and I usually missed more than I connected with but a lot of fun.

I had three different scopes on my HMR when I had it and my favourite was the leupold 4-12x40. For down on the bipod 12 was plenty IMO.

When I read the article I had a good idea something would be said here on PW. 35 yards with 16gr no6 steel on a goose is just a daft thing to put in a magazine purely because of the reasons already mentioned. I am not knocking steel, even 16gr of lead is daft IMO. I always thought thought that with a good 12 bore 2 3/4" no3 lead load 30-35 yards would be coming up for maximum range for me and I would have said a good 3" 50g BB lead load through 1/2 or 3/4 maybe up to 50 yards. These are just ranges that I feel comfortable shooting at. I have shot geese a lot further than 50 yards away when the goose fever was running high and desperation had set in but thinking back I would think that more geese flew off with pellets sticking in them than what fell to the ground. This is what I would worry about using 16gr no6, nail them in the head and neck every time and alls well, but how many can do that, I sure wish I could.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with vortex scopes? I was looking at the viper PST 6-24x50 illuminated. I have a leupold VX3 6.5-20x40 with target turrets on the .223 which works well for me but it suffers with low light and the fine cross hairs. The vortex scope offers everything I want but it does seem cheap!! Any help gratefully received

This pair was just outside the garden fence the other day, the gander keeping a close eye on me with the camera. And this chap was taking a rest from the wind just inside the fence.

When I got my .223 I thought it would be ok without one.......................I bought one 2 days later. Even a couple of shots and my ears we're ringing. I bought an ASE utra and I am very Happy with it. Edit to say, I would imagine there isn't a lot of difference between the 223 and the 222 but I don't know.
