  1. Excellent . Some day if I am spared I would love an under lever, probably a winchester in 30-30.
  2. Our 3 boys (7, 4 and nearly 3) so far have grown up knowing where their food comes from and the process it goes through to get from on hoof or fin to the plate. Even the youngest one has been with me in the jeep shooting rabbits and watched me gut, skin and cook them. They have all eaten McDonalds, chicken dippers, super noodles and the various other carp thats quick and easy when we are pushed for time but they know, at least the older two knows, that in the long term its not healthy and that they are better off with a lump of beef or home grown lamb or better still daddy's roast duck, crunchie tatties and lashings of gravy, crunchie tatties being roast tatties ha ha.
  3. I remember shooting sporting at the clay range and we came to a bird that one of the guys had set up earlier, it was a horrible low but climbing quartering away and going like hell edge on deceiving ******* of a bird and only one guy hit it twice, anyway my turn came up and the guy pushing the button was standing behind me telling me I was far too far infront every time so on my tenth and last shot I deliberately aimed about a foot behind the bird and according to him I was still too far infront. The best bit was when I was done I took the button from him and asked him to show me how to hit it, a box of shells later and quite red in the face he still hadn't hit it.
  4. I have plenty powder just now and my dealer has some in stock the only thing I was having trouble getting was 35gr v-max for the hornet but I think my dealer has ordered some from edgar bros.
  5. We were down a few weeks ago for a wedding which was in the royal botanic garden which was beautiful and well worth a look IMO. We ate out at a few places but my favourite place was Hamiltons at Stockbridge.
  6. All my duck decoys have about 5'-6' of line on them with a strip of lead about 10" long by 1" wide on the end. The line wraps around the keel and the lead around the neck of the decoy, it keeps everything tangle free for setting up in the dark. If you need more weight for tidal shooting just cut the strips a bit longer. If you find lead at a scrap dealer its just a case of cutting it in to strips and punching a hole in one end, it should be cheaper than pre cast leads from a shop. Just an idea.
  7. Anyone looking for a fishing holiday or fishing with a change of scenery should have a look at northmavine charters. I havn't been before but know a few who have and they loved it, I have a trip booked with him in august and cant wait. http://www.northmavinecharters.com/

    taking 2 guns

A couple of times I have been out with my friend and we have sat with decoys out and I have had his single 4 and my semi 12 but it has been close to where we can get the vehicles. The 4 for any birds passing and the 12 for decoyed birds.
  9. 6.5x55 varget .223 H4895 hornet lil gun
  10. Well done, nice pics once again
  11. I just have a shelf in the cabinet for my rifle ammo which the police have been happy with for the 7 years I have had it.
  12. I have a remington 700 and a tikka T3 lite, if I was going for another centerfire rifle I wouldn't hesitate on getting another T3 lite. I paid £ 700 for the rifle and £280 for an ASE utra moderator. If you want a light gun the T3 lite fits the bill IMO.
  13. I was asked to make a shield and mount a head like that for a guy I was doing some work for. I wasn't sure what was best but he said it had been screwed up through the two holes in the skull before so since he was happy with that that's what I did and it seemed to work but welshwarriors plan sounds better.
  14. I have had a few scopes on my .22 and what I ended up sticking with was a leupold 6x42. Nothing to adjust or think about just point and shoot. http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Sights-And-Optics-For-Sale/Leupold_M8-6x42-duplex_Telescopic-Sight_For-Sale_120803101503001
  15. Looking good . Get some more loaded and try them at different ranges and see how they perform.
  16. We have a lot of them here in Shetland, there has been a huge increase in numbers over the last 10 years. They have never been much of a problem till lately, I suppose growing numbers mean more bellies to fill. A farmer near me has just been granted a license to shoot ravens as he has just lost two calves to ravens. Beautiful bird and extremely clever but its the same as anything else they can become a problem when the numbers get too high. One morning last season I was sitting on the edge of a barley stubble waiting for mallard and between first light and when fowl started moving I counted 367 ravens that were coming out of the cliffs and heading east over the top of me, the were still passing over me once I started shooting but I lost count.
  17. I can better that as I got mine for nowt LOL. I was having a look at the CZ 453 premium probably no more accurate than a standard CZ but they are pretty.
  18. I am having exactly the same problem with my BRNO mod 2 just now. It went from being a fairly accurate gun to shooting 3" groups at 60 yards in a very short space of time. I gave the rifle a really good clean and floated the barrel which hadn't been floating before and it did improve groups slightly but not much. The gun was secondhand to me from my wife's uncle who had put many thousands of rounds through I have put thousands through it too. I honestly think that the barrel is just worn out which is a shame because I really like the rifle. I didn't think a .22 could wear out but when I thought the amount of bullets that have gone down the barrel that have come out of pockets and pick-up or tractor cubby holes full of grit and carp that stick to the wax on the bullet its no wonder if its worn.
  19. My SX3 has a sling on it 99% of the time.
  20. I can second Lewis for recommending the A-bolt. I have one and love it. It is such a good rifle for the money. Edited to say that after a look on guntrader I see the savage edge is a good bit cheaper than the A-bolt but after handling both in the shop I preferred the A-bolt.
  21. I have the ASE utra on my .223 and have no complaints, just bought one for my 6.5 too.
  22. Only one thing for it I am afraid, you are going to have to get one of these..........
  23. I cant say as we have no foxes here on the isle but looking at some of the rabbits I have shot I cant imagine a fox shrugging it off.
  24. Good luck with the reloading . The load I have found best so far in my CZ is 12.4gr lil gun and 35gr v-max. It does tend to open up a bit after 100 yards but like you I don't have to push it out too far as I use the hornet mostly for lamping and everything tends to be under 150 yards and when its like that its just point and shoot.
