  1. Fully aware it will move many many miles in a day but it will move in a fairly predictable direction.
  2. Pretty strange that they can't pick up anything from the debris they have found in the air searches and logged the GPS positions of though??
  3. I don't think doing stupid things in confined to motorcyclists, on the whole I'd reckon more motorcyclists are the victims of moronic car drivers than t'other way around. I drive cars and ride bikes so don't have any sympathy with anybody who causes grief to others by total stupidity, some accidents are caused my tiny momentary lapses of concentration which unfortunately we are all capable of doing, however proficient we are. For me it is the ones caused by callous, often arrogant indifference to other road users that make me really seethe, we see far too much lazy and distracted driving, not necessarily at high speed that is just an accident waiting to happen. Ideally there needs to be more accountability for those who cause accidents, injury and death by their poor driving/riding but I don't see it happening. When somebody can pull out of a side road without looking, while illegally using a hand held phone, thereby causing the death of another road user and avoid any sort of custodial sentence we don't have a hope in hell.
  4. The insurance company will always take the cheapest and easiest way out for them, "knock for knock" doesn't involve them having to appoint legal assistance for the customer so they just split it down the middle. They tried to screw me when some young chav ran into the back of my car that was stationary at a red traffic light in the middle of Brighton, can't see how there can be a less contentious accident as far as blame is concerned. Needless to say they had to put it right! Don't take any carp from them Prawn! Give em hell!!!
  5. You can add the Nissan dealer in banbury, total wasters!
  6. At 55p a litre the heating oil is about as cheap as I've found. It would be interesting to put some through an older diesel car and see how the engine faired.
  7. Already been done http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/278963-500-new-royal-mail-second-class-stamps/
  8. Care to elaborate..............................................
  9. Hmmm, so you can take a mobile phone with a potentially dangerous battery in your pocket onto an aircraft but you can't take a fishing reel with line on it in your hand luggage in case you strangle somebody with the line.
  10. Anybody tried heating oil (kerosene) for off road use only obviously?
  11. Got blimey teal, have you banned 500 members!!?? You've been busy
  12. Save yourself the grief and get a Nissan pathfinder
  13. Did a fair bit of off road riding before getting on the road about 43 years ago, raced F2 sidecars and did a bit of twin shock trials riding as well as a fair few thousand miles on the road both here and right across Europe. Had a few offs but learned from them all, let's hope the guy in the video did likewise.
  14. Yes, target fixation. Could have made that corner easily. One of the first thing I tell the newbies is to go for the corner if they think they've overcooked it, most of the time it is doable or of it fails ends in a low side, whereas getting on the brakes will stand the bike up and often ends in a nasty high side. It all comes down to the ability to make snap decisions which some just don't seem able to do.
  15. You only have 14 days grace if the tax discs are coterminous, should you decide to sorn the vehicle over the winter you cannot get a tax disc online starting on the first day of the month in which you wish to change from sorn to being taxed again. That is the stupidity of the current situation, it would be simplicity itself to reword it to take into account people wishing to change from sorn to 6 months tax. As for CPS capability, don't get me started on that one when they refused to prosecute the scrote they caught red handed in possession of my stolen trailer.
  16. Some interesting responses, the original objection was to the draconian manner in which members of the public are harassed by visits and threatening letters, which all seems way out of proportion to the "crime" if compared to the lax way in which some other criminal activities seem to be dealt with. Not really to do with what the actual price is. It also seems way OTT that it is still a criminal rather than civil offence, if an offence it should be at all. Perhaps that will be resolved shortly.
  17. Harleys are self governing, they can't go round corners very fast due to limited ground clearance. I thought so too but bear in mind that none of those guys were actually going very fast. The helmet cameras give a false impression but if you look at fixed objects they are passing you get a better idea. Average speed cameras are OK anyway once you know where they are, you go though the first one then "arry flatters" until just short of the next one where you stop off for a fag break. Or so they tell me, I don't smoke so couldn't do that.
  18. Valid points, I was merely highlighting yet another poorly thought through government scheme that wouldn't take much in the way of change to benefit the "customers" Not suggesting that the system originates from the present government, I'm sure it is just another inherited issue. I'd have a sneaky little side bet that anybody caught with no tax disc is likelier to get prosecuted than somebody who has just been caught red handed nicking diesel out of a farm tank. LOL
  19. My original comment on your post had two smileys, which I thought you would have taken as intended. If you've misread any of my comments as alluding to you being taken in by him then I can only apologise, you are clearly far more astute than that.
  20. You said "Clegg comes across as" suggesting that he gives you the impression that he is thoughtful. Had you said he comes across as according to a third party that would have been a different matter.
  21. Typically screwed up but nearly makes sense: When you apply for a tax disc online or by using DVLA's phone service you are able to legally continue to drive your vehicle for up to 14 days after the tax disc has expired while you wait for the new tax disc to arrive. This will only apply when you have applied for a new tax disc before the current one expires. You should continue to display the expired disc on your vehicle, until the new one arrives. So for people who quite legitimately tax their vehicles for 6 months of the year and declare SORN (another ridiculous hoop for us to jump through) for the other 6 months there is no facility to take into account the delivery delays.
  22. See, you've been taken in by his bliarisms !! ;)
  23. Another well thought out online system! It clearly states that the tax disc will "take up to a maximum of 5 working days to arrive" yet doesn't allow payment for tax discs required to start at the beginning of the month until that month has started. I tend to tax my bikes and motorhome for 6 months starting in April so it would be handy if I could pay now and have some chance of the tax discs arriving for the start of the month.
  24. Methinks he relies too much on his bliarite speech hesitation and hand waving to gain some sort of credibility? Anybody who thinks we are going to be taken in by that again must need certifying!!
  25. "Twist of the wrist" Keith Code................. All those in the vid could do with getting the book and DVD!! If you look at the footage closely none of them are going fast and the guy that binned it had already made the corner he was exiting from. I've actually seen it happen in front of me due to a momentary lapse of concentration, that can be all it takes. This one looks like target fixation on the oncoming car IMHO.
