  1. Over to NttF for this one william, he helped me a while back and it worked, mine is coming on brilliantly now I wish you luck, stay with it. I nearly lost patience with mine but she just "clicked" about a week ago and theres no stopping her now.
  2. How to win friends and influence people :( You whack a bag full of rabbit, P*** off the guy controling them, Upset the owner as he either got more work to do or pay for it to be done An you had heeps of enjoyment Good on yer
  3. If they have I am not aware of it, They do click on or off is that what you mean? The rubber covering grips well so taking them off and sliding them across the seat (for example) will be enough to switch them on and you don't even notice, hence even the forrestry stalkers have taken the ***** off.
  4. I guess it must be down to the individuals not being polite, but thanks anyway. Cranners, I have sent you a PM as requested. Cheers Col Pol
  5. Well thank you Floyd........................... *** :(
  6. I have sent quite a number of PM's and emails just lately and I have noticed they do not appear in my sent box and I don't seem to be getting any messages back. Are my PM's getting through? I don't think people are ignoring me (here comes the risky bit) If you all are ignoring me just say, a reason why would also help. Cheers Col Pol :*) :*)
  7. Sean I have a pair of the deben ones and they are comfortable and work great although I have two things about which I will comment. 1. If you leave the black ***** on them they DO turn themselves on whilst in your bag etc and battery life gets shot to ****. We have all pulled the ***** off leaving a shiny aluminium switch underneath but it dont put anything off. Secondly, I have had mine a No of years and when out stalking in real windy conditions its a similar noise to having your side window down in the car as your racing along to your shooting I think on later models they have covered the hole with thin foam to try and combat this problem. Other than that they are ok, I do find the batteries hard to come by tho. Always have a spare taped together in your kit. PP You got any details on those custom made jobs? Mine are getting old now and was going to get a pair at the MGF in Sept. Any advice would be appreciated. Col Pol
  8. Found some Cranners on you link.... thanks Col Pol
  9. Cranners Thanks bud I owe you one I have put the patch to work and its fixed. Thanks again. On a similar vein, you know where I can get help with these damn pop up things?? Col Pol
  10. Thanks Cranners I got this yesterday, it was a pain in the ****. Here goes.............!
  11. Red Stagg If you shoot a deer in the heart, it is undoubtably dead so why does it run? There are a number of factors that can influence this activity but I will keep to the basics as this area does overlap with balistics, energy of the bullet etc etc. In very simple terms, if the deer knows of your presence, eg seen you, heard you or whiffed you it will stamp one of its front feet this does two things firstly, it floods the system with adrenaline and second warns others nearby of danger. You then slot your deer and it will then run, usually about fifty or so yards until the body runs out of oxygen and it falls over. If your deer has no knowledge of your presence and you take a heart shot it will usually just drop to shot as the adrenaline rush is a defensive mechanism in the same vain as flight or fight mode in humans and wont be present if he does not suspect any danger is present. Hope this helps
  12. Big Dave There should be no problem in obtaining your shotgun certificate and I wish you many years of enjoyment when using it. A couple of points you need to give consideration too. There is no reason why you cannot have on your certificate a shotgun that is also itemised on your dads certificate so you should have no problems there. Infact when you apply you should ask for it to be put on your certificate. A more potentially serious area for concern would be if your dad has both a firearms certificate and shotgun certificate and keeps both the rifles and shotguns in one single cabinet. If you wanted to use your shotgun and had a set of keys for your dads cabinet, both you and he (more him) would fall foul of the law that could have serious implications. Let me explain, if you went to get your shotgun and there was firearms in the same cabinet and you do not have a firearm certificate, your father would be in breach of the conditions of his certificate and the law because you would have unathorised access to firearms and it could be argued you are therefore also in possession of them. Your father could lose his certificate. The solution, is to pay and install your own cabinet and ensure you and only you have access to its contents, likewise he with his cabinet. This will definately keep you and your dad on the right side of the law. Hope this helps?
  13. I will be there with Mrs Col Pol, she likes watching the dogs. Dont know whether it will be sat or sun yet, will have to find time to get it sorted. Has anyone got any details on this premier club they are advertising for £40? What do you get etc...
  14. From my perspective I would assume, like all manufacturing processes, you try and make the constituant parts as similar as you can to keep costs as low as possible, whilst making the product look as distinctive as you can to secure the premium costs you want to charge. So if we take a shotgun cartridge, for example, the size and tolerances are within certain parameters, that pretty much rules out the case, I accept the colours change but if your cleaver, you can change the colour and the bit in the middle is waste that you sell off cheaper. So what about the internal bits and bobs? Well you have powder that is developed over the years so it is a reasonable assumption that the powder will be "off the shelf". Likewise with the fibrewad or plastic cup and then we come to the shot, well again, shot is shot is it not. Therefore I do expect it will be pretty much a standard cartridge (to whoever makes it) with a different "badge" on it. I do accept, before the cartridge manufacturers get on my case, I have simplified the process somewhat but equally, I dont think I am too far from the mark. I also think we are in the same situation as Tesco's are with their own brands eg some of the big names actually produce for Tesco's own brand goods so to all sense and purposes whats in the packet is the same as the branded stuff further down the aisle. They don't have seperate production facilities. They just keep it quite. But I guess the higher costs will be attributable to the "high Development costs" incurred by the manufacturer that cannot be proven, unless you work for them. Neil if you want you can go to any manufacturer and have your own cartridges made up, you just have to have a lot made, hence your local gun shop has as a marketing strategy, try asking him what they are, he may tell you they are x or y brand with his own name on them.
  15. RAR Would consider membership for a Sth Wales guy? If so I am interested I am prepared to travel and can provide references etc. Please let me know Regards Col Pol
  16. I agree with you crapshot. I also agree with other comments from other PW repected posters that on the face of it, go and buy your cartridges for say £90 and donate an even larger amount to the cause. This does two things 1. you get your cartridges & 2. the cause gets a direct contribution of the difference, in this case it is potentially and extra twenty five quid. Now that would make a difference to the lobby coffers. I also think Cranfield has a very valid point with the amount of money going to the cause. I think they could donate a larger sum, it would be interesting how much money they do make from their manufacturing process etc.. I am a simple man and assume if I can buy cartridges for £90 / 1000 with the company logo on them and both the manufacturer and the retailer make money on them, then to take a a tenner off for the donation and another fiver for the delivery, to my mind and application of simple math, there is a deficit of £20 somewhere, where is that going? I may be wrong they may be better cartridges I don't know, I can only ask the questions I have that no one seems to be able or willing to answer?
  17. And only A PENNY goes to the cause for these cartridges if I read the article correctly.
  18. Why not have a dig Crapshot? I was on every march and coerced, tricked and forced people and friends to go along also. I am a member of various shooting organisations and proud of what I have done. I write letters to my MPs etc but measuring the responses I have not had I don't think they can read. Everyone who is shooting or involved in country sports can make a contribution in some way and those that participate and freeload of the backs of us out there doing our bit, is unfair and morally unexscusable. There are genuine people out there who for whatever reason cannot attend or cannot afford the time or money to go and do there bit and I for one wholly support them as they are the ones who are in desperate need of our voice and support and I will not criticise them in anyway, but those of you who are too lazy or too selfish and can't be bothered............. well shame on you all. We are on the precipiss (is that how you spell it) of the big greasy slope of ruin for our sport and our way of life and I will fight to the bitter end to keep it, but IF we lose the fight then I can go to sleep with a clear conciousience (big words ) knowing I did my bit, the freeloaders can't and I hope they have many sleepless nights but I suppose they don't care enough anyway so they wont.
  19. Sniper I use a 12v 17Ah batt for my rotor and it will keep the thing going for about two days. sad *** I am I tested it in my garden last year. I would be worried if your batt only lasts for such a short period. My mate, who is one of these electronic gizzmo gadget wizard types told me these sealed batts we use do not like to be stored flat ie no power they last longer if you keep them fully charged. So what I do is use it then let it charge and then mark it on the calender when I need to charge it again for storage. Once a month seems to work ok up to now so once a month I charge all my batts and touch wood, do not seem to be having a problem with them. Even my lower rated batts for my rotor last longer than 3 1/2 hours.
