  1. Next one listed is here, about an hour from you I believe...otherwise I'd do what I did and contacted my regional office. http://www.basc.org.uk/en/departments/shooting-standards/basc-training-courses/introduction-to-woodpigeon-shooting.cfm
  2. It was good. I've shot a good few ducks, and am getting a handle on crows and pigeons this season but not big bags. I fully expect this day to improve my success rate purely by improving my decoys and decoying.
  3. I wasn't quite sure where to put this post but decided that actually, it was a good tip...go and do the BASC Pigeon shooting course if you are lacking experience or looking to up your game. I did it because it seemed exceptionally good value, and nothing ventured, nothing gained...and I'm glad I did! Don't get me wrong, nothing earth shattering, but many small comments that made me sit up and think 'Oh that's why that happens', and a good part of the day dedicated to gear (a lot of what you don't really need even though it's often billed as essential), and what you do need, mainly movement. Plenty about how to modify your existing decoys and how to tart up those tatty old decoys to best effect, as well as what you need to 'upgrade' on many of the shop bought decoys (strong neck and wing bars being the biggest thing that's weak on shop boughts) A section on patterns and not getting too stuck on a particular pattern and just sticking to the main principles of closing off the head of the pattern and providing a landing area. I discovered a huge mistake I've been making with the magnet that may well be scaring birds, it's been sited much too close to the pattern, and I also have a better understanding of what I want from my bouncers and floaters...as well as some DIY mods to make them behave better. Todays course was presented by Shane Robinson, he's a good mate of Chris Green (Google the Cornish Countryman if you don't know who he is and want to), as such, many of the ideas are available to buy but he had no hesitation in telling, nay encouraging us to do this ourselves. As he said, it's all made by them, so if they can do it, so can we. I enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend it and, at £45 for members or £65 for non -members, I'd suggest it's a bargain. You'd save more than that with not buying **** you don't need!
  4. He has got a point though. If the farmers stopped working they'd get unemployment, and they still get family allowance/tax credits etc just the same as everyone else. It's not as though you are any more hard done by than the rest of the working population. Having said that, I wouldn't want to do your job, too much like hard work
  5. I've been out on the beaches solo and had a couple of worrying events, both turned out to be **** heads wondering what the light was on for. Still disconcerting to have a drunken **** head in your face on a deserted beach. Hence why I now either fish with human company, or take 55 kilos of Rhodesian Ridgeback x Mastiff with me!
  6. It has now gone subject to payment verification.
  7. Will you post Edd? If so and it's as you think, then again, yes, I'll take it off you.
  8. Definitely want this if it's a reasonably light class. More info please. What it says on the rod would be good or a piccie of similar.
  9. And therein lies the answer! I shoot over a very busy farm. By busy I mean it has a lot of footpaths through it, and it's on the outskirts of Brighton, a major city. At weekends it can get real busy. The farm is a mixed farm including beef cattle, the cattle are not in the fields crossed by footpaths, sheep are and even a few horses, but not cattle. The gates are all self closing. The farmer has had to learn to deal with the rampaging hordes as he has no legal right to stop them. I don't see that as unreasonable. It's exactly the same as when we shoot it. Some areas we won't even consider at the weekend due to the amount of 'traffic', instead, we shoot a quieter area of the farm.
  10. Sorry, can't agree with this. While solar is an attractive option it's certainly not the only reason to want to keep a hot water tank. As yet nobody's mentioned the reduced hot water flow rates from a combi. If you have or want power showers then a combi won't generally satisfy the requirement. A basic power shower can easily use 17litres of hot water a minute, most combis won't deliver 17 litres a minute and God forbid somebody opens a hot tap elsewhere while the showers in use and increases demand further!
  11. How much rust on her mate and where?
  12. LOL, what it says is 'Forester Turbo 05 plate. Now, to me that says you are selling a 2005, Turbocharged, Subaru Forester...but that's because I'm a silly man who speaks English passably. Turbo for/from/off an '05 Forester would all have made sense and no, I don't think it is pedantic this time. And....if it had been an 05 Forester for 150 quid I'd have ripped your arm off for it....with no tax, test or fuel!
  13. Only one real response to this comment. T-wat. That's like saying Rossi is rubbish because he's Italian, just nonsense.
  14. Nah, he's right JK and I say that as a biker and track rider. Don't get me wrong, I admire them immensely, but, road racing is the most extreme version of bike racing and for the real adrenaline junkies/nutters! Even the likes of Sheene wouldn't risk the roads. For the ultimate adrenaline rush I guess you have to flirt with paying the ultimate price more. You only have to look at how many die racing roads versus how many die racing short tracks to see just how much more dangerous it is.
  15. Am I right in saying you are just selling a turbo.
  16. Trouble with this ruse is it got so prevalent that the insurance companys have started putting eyes on the ground. I have personally seen a 'stranger' taking the vin number of a crashed bike.
  17. No, it doesn't need to be a van. A pick up looks more and more likely, just need to get the mpg sensible.

Bleeding expensive fitting on the tyres! £180 quids worth of rubber.... http://www.btyres.co.uk/continental/conti-road-attack-49 Maybe next time buy the tyres yourself and get them fitted. Shouldn't be anymore than 30 quid-ish.
  19. Guys on road bikes will be more careful, no doubts. Wil cry more if it falls over too! No Limits aren't the worst mate, it's just the joys of track riding, you get good days and bad. Last time out we didn't have one stoppage all day, before that I've been on days where theres been a crash/accident every session! You wait until you do a Focussed Events day. If things go wrong then it tends to be big style in my experience especially if little Hitlers running it! They are also known as *****d Up Events for good reason IMO! I try not to use them.
  20. In short, you don't. Only way this gets covered is if the OP took out a trackday insurance policy. I did on the few occasions I tracked the road bike, but have a track bike now and TBH, when that goes over we pick it back up and fix the broken bits...last time was a 100+mph lowside at the top of Paddock Hill at Brands Hatch! The bike cost about 150 quid to put back together, insurance would have been similar and this is my first time off this bike in a dozen or more days on her! My fault, too much lean, too much speed, not enough tyre left! ... but I got up and wandered away, the joys of track riding! :-) Mikaveli, it sounds as though you are fairly competent and of reasonable pace...get your **** out of the novice group ASAP! It's full of people who have never been on track or, are lacking in confidence or ability and as you have found out, they fairly often ride beyond their abilities or get carried away! At least in Inters/fast you tend to get more consistent riding. You can still get muppets but, so far I've not had any major incidents (that's tempting fate, I'm at Snett on Tuesday!). You will find that there are plenty slower...and faster than you in inters but it's a bit safer. Glad you enjoyed it and have booked another though.
  21. Northall CPC in Sussex have had major issues with local residents about noise and had to put up soundproofed sheds to try and mitigate, other issues as well. Speak with Dan Kerwood the owner and father of Charlotte Kerwood.

+1. I do feel though that unfortunately though, the sun and moon may both be waning and maybe Vale is past his best. With the likes of Marquez coming through, can he ever really be competitive again? Race wins are on the cards, but another championship? I'm not so sure.
