  1. Shotguns were lucky - there was a special provision to allow non-S1-conforming to be altered (18" barrel to 24", folding stock to fixed etc.) to avoid S5. With most other guns, once classified as S5, they stay that way. Then, the only lawful way to retain one, would be deactivation.
  2. Section 5 is the prohibited (banned) category... that's semi and full auto centre-fires, handguns, rocket launchers, exploding ammunition etc. It is the list of things we can't have! When high capacity shotguns were recategorised, they went from Section 2 (shotgun licence) to Section 1 (firearms licence).
  3. Ban targeting just .50 cal and MARS according to BASC, in an update from today: https://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/latest-news/plans-to-change-firearm-laws-not-supported-by-evidence-says-basc/
  4. It'll be a lot of noise / bad press if the government don't compensate after seizing (stealing) lawfully acquired and used property. Still, the reclassification may not go ahead. Grandfather rights may apply - or they may even move to S5 with a competitive shooting exemption (just like S5 expanding bullets worked for hunters).
  5. Benelli M2 used to be the default go-to gun (and in many circles still is). Everyone I knew with one a few years ago would spend hundreds upgrading it to get it competition ready... The newer SP looks like a good option OOTB, but it's still £1500. The Beretta 1301 Comp would be my choice now (c. £950). The Beretta is gas operated rather than recoil - but realistically this just means you need to clean it every 200 rounds or so. ...and yeah, Hatsan MPA's... good value gun, but frustrating to use for PSG - the loading gate costs you loads of time and there's no real way to fix it. Strictly for the casual shooter. If you only have a £ 500 budget - get a used version of something else.
  6. If your mate sells 'em (and if your local to Cambs), I'll buy them. Anyone into target shooting will know there's still plenty of (long barrelled) "hand guns" around. I've got a stainless steel, 7 shot .357 magnum revolver and a Marlin lever action. I load .38 special and .357 mag for both.
  7. Is he a member of a target shooting club? You can use members rifles on a guest day if so?
  8. As the title states, I looking for a reasonable priced shotgun for clay pigeon shooting. Not ultra fussy, but my basic requirements are: 12 bore Multi-choke Not an auto-safety Reasonable condition Within 30 minutes drive of Peterborough or Spalding Priced no more than £400.
  9. I don't think there's any legislation to suggest that? Correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. Tis true. We (as a nation) love an underdog.... But, if the underdog consistently moans about their position, they lose their appeal. Yeah, racing is about bikes, but Rossi's popularity isn't just about his wins. Crutchlow needs to learn that.
  11. Do you mean that you missed a month's payment on a couple of your cards or that you actually 'defaulted' the account (missing 6 months of payments, then having the accounts closed). If it's the former, it's not a massive issue - particularly if you have a deposit bigger than 30% of the mortgage value. If it's the latter, you'll struggle to find a mortgage for at least three years after the default - 6 if you don't clear it yourself. If you've got "nearly have of the value" of £250k, why not just buy a house for cash and then save up? A £150k mortgage will cost you around £850-900p/m for 25 years! Saving that amount at the same rate would take less than 14 years (and you wouldn't be in t'shiz if you lost your job etc).
  12. Er, if that can actually fire a cartridge, you realise it's a prohibited weapon...
  13. It is strange - I hope the member of public hadn't actually bought a copy...
  14. I know more and more people hiring cleaners - and not especially wealthy people either. Just 'normal' people, usually working couple who'll get a cleaner in once a week or so - doesn't sound too expensive by all accounts. Whilst I'd like someone to clean my house for me, I don't think I could trust a stranger like that - I don't want to have to lock up / bolt everything down to get my house cleaned.
