  1. Hi Rosebank I didn't get it from helston I ordered mine from eBay. I think daves original post contained the link. It was £11.88 eBay number 330784152403 if it helps. Mines a 501, Dave or one of the experts would probably know if it would fit the 502. I'm not sure why if any the difference is, sorry. Colin
  2. Having bought a lense kit from Dave and the arrival of a new torch from flea bay all I can say is that it is now one hell of a torch, far more powerful than torches costing vast amounts more. Having managed to get out after SWMBO gave permission the other night and used it for the first time, it's almost too good, even on a .22lr. It does take a little getting used to however, I'm happily picking out rabbits at 200m. The only issue I had which Dave mentioned above was the fitting to an older style torch. Mine was a few years old and the pill had a slightly larger diameter which meant that the collar wouldn't screw on, even after a bit of filing (of the pill). A new torch sorted this problem out, and once focused and a spot of loc-tite on the threads it's spot on! It's outperforming my clulite and it's a no brainier really. £44 is all it cost in total, maybe a little extra if you want a longer remote switch but worth every penny IMHO.
  3. I thought I'd get rid of the car the insurance was about £200 a year and get a ford ranger or similar to use on the farm and for a spot of shooting. Bearing in mind I'm 39 no prangs or claims ever and police driving qualifications coming out of my ears the best quote on the price comparison sites for a 54 plate ranger was £1327.91!!! I wasn't sure if I choked, swore or did both at the same time! Apparantly truck cabs are classed as commercial vehicles and they class me as a new driver hence the stupid price as you cannot take across car insurance onto a commercial vehicle?? Strangely enough I didn't buy the truck cab with insurance that high and am still looking for a 'normal' 4x4
  4. This is true believe it or not! I've got 2 alpacas who have an 1 1/2 acres to run and look after my chook flock. I've seen them chase a fox out of the field and have heard of them trampling a fox to death who couldn't escape from a field. Mine go nuts if they see a dog on the perimeter of the fence and will run at it. Feel free to bring your dog to my plae for a practical demo.
  5. Believe it or not the spare cartridge which is located in the base of the hand grip is only held on by two plastic clips does get snagged in seat belts and door jambs. They come off in public order incidents and aren't the best of design. The cartridges are easier to lose and damage than you would imagine. The risk from a cartridge to the public would be minimal, the blast doors (little plastic doors on the cartridge) break all the time and get used as training cartridges, without an electrical charge to fire the barbs you'd have to pull them to get them out!

  7. +1 Looks awesome would look as good on my 452 .22!! Best start my Xmas list a bit early!
  8. Ian Hodges havent got a massive amount of stock, I know they were talking about expanding the shop but dont know if thats happened yet. The last time I went up he had about 50 ish guns/shotguns in various calibres. No issues with handling them and advice was freely given. Ammo wise they've always got plenty in, I use winnies never out of stock, same as carts. The shop is small but well stocked, like an aladdins cave really. Not sure on prices, a box of winnies subs in .22lr is £4.50 which I think is about average, the staff are always happy to answer questions. BTW I'm not affiliated to them, just like good customer service :good:
  9. Have a look at the BHWT (british hen welfare trust website) www.bhwt.org.uk or give them a call on 01884 860084 Colin
  10. Last week I had a night lamping with Dave-G who came for a visit to Cornwall (thanks again Dave! ). Despite the weather and fog not helping it was a good night out, with a few rabbits accounted for. Now the last time I tried shooting left handed was in the military a few years ago and after watching a mate get hit in the face by a hot 5.56 as it was ejected and laughing at him it wasn't something that I thought I would have to repeat, however, as Dave was driving and I was shooting out of the front passengers seat I tried the usual tactic of shooting with my dominant right side. As we all know we don't bend that well, nor does the rifle and I'm certainly no contortionist. Dave being a bit more wiley than I, suggested shooting left handed with the rifle resting on the wing mirror. It took a few rounds to get used to, using my left eye instead of right as well as squeezing the trigger left handed, fortunately the ones I missed were a country mile but it didn't take long to get used to and I didn't get hit by flying brass either. A cracking night out and I think I'm now a convert to a Sako Quad as well. How does everyone else get on cack handed?
  11. you could always phone east midlands air traffic control and ask them? Most towers are pretty helpful

  15. Interesting conversations. As a copper everyone is entitled I their opinion and I'm not going to get into a debate about some of the topics. Aside from arvs plenty of uk police are taser equipped now, including me and plenty of my colleagues in Devon and Cornwall. In the scale of use of force it is below baton and captor (or CS) and is just another item of PPE to be used where justified. As for warning shots, we are trained to aim and shoot at centre of mass, to put the subject down, you try to hit and arm or leg that's moving with a pistol, only happens in the movies I'm afraid. Speaking for Uk police every round has to be justified, if you can't justify it thats you in the brown smelly stuff! The yanks are trigger happy which might explain it! Just my tuppenyworth!!!
  16. Sorry blipped all firearms seized by the police end up at the force armoury after being transported by in our case g4s (I know)!!! After seizure they end up in a firearms cabinet at the station until they're transported, having been in the armoury at two headquarters they're Definately not damp and all weapons bein held are racked, for destruction are In a pile admittedly but the weapons are looked after!
  17. Chances are, if they do come for them, they'll be thrown into a damp storage facility and they come back dented and with major rust. ** got a bit carried away** see below for what I was going to add in respond to the above quote!!
  18. I don't know what Police area you live in, however, after discussing this with the custody staff after dealing with a feral drunk who deserved to be nicked I talked about this with the two custody sgts and put your scenario to them. Both firstly asked what the necessity for the arrest was (as a few of us have posted on here) and both said they wouldn't accept custody and to VA as the socap necessity test hadn't been met. CPS work 24 hours so I'm surprised that you were bailed out, whilst it would mean a little longer in custody, we phone cps, fax/email across the evidence they read it and make the decision there and then, bearing in mind the custody inspector can make an nfa decision him/her self. I've gotta say that speaking from the other side I'd be embarrassed, one of the problems we have is that common sense has been taken away and there are too many bobbies into the numbers game. The next problem you're likely to have is your firearms and certs seized. Licencing departments check custody records daily and any fac/sgc holders flagged get another visit for your weapons and paperwork firstly to ensure that you don't self Harm or do something stupid and secondly whilst they assess the outcome of the case and your suitability to continue to hold a fac/sgc. My advice, photograph your guns showing dints/marks etc ( you'd be surprised at what happens to them) and get an itemised receipt. I'm sorry you're being dragged through the system and hope it goes ok Thursday. Colin
