  1. Mungler - for someone who does not insult others, you do seem to be having a junior dig. If you have something on your mind - just spit it out and stop being a ****.
  2. Mungler - whatever argument you had or did not, you just lost credibility with a really silly statement. In the present climate, why did you feel the need to be so stupid?
  3. George - the Police don't just say someone is unfit to hold a licence. There has to be an explanation. Either your dad didn't tell you the full story or we are getting a shortened version.
  4. This incident relates to a Pit Bull Terrier. I fail to see how English Bull and Staffordshire Terriers got dragged in to it. Try banning:- Collies - been bitten by one. Labrador - attacked my Akitas. Bull Mastiff Neapolitan Mastiff Bulldog Boxer Airedale Terrier German Shepherd Rottweiler Mastiff Doberman Anatolian Shepherd Hungarian Kuvasz Alaskan Malamute Leonburger Shar-Pei Standard Poodle Karelian Bear Dog French Beauceron Chow Chow Hovawart Rhodesian Ridgeback Bouvier des Flandres Estrela Mountain Dog Tibetan Mastiff Maremma Sheepdog Komondor Japanese Akita And last but not least Jack Russell Terrier. All of these dogs are capable, or in some cases have, inflicted serious injuries on other dogs or persons.
  5. Alternative would be to have the stock made adjustable or buy one that is already done. One of the snags about having a gun fitted and then altered (by removing wood) is that you are stuck with it, if your gun fit alters. I would buy a secondhand Browning, Miroku or Beretta with an adjustable stock. There are many well within the lower end of your budget. You could get a new one for the bottom endish.
  6. Mungler / Baldrick. I own two Japanese Akitas. The "big pup" is ten stone. Whilst taking them a walk in St Ives last year, a Labrador sprinted 200 yards up the beach to attack my dog. My dogs were on a lead. I don't let them off unless I am certain we are alone. My Akita reacted to the attack and defended itself. The owner run up and berated me about the damage to his Labrador. He gave no excuse for the attack, nor the fact that his dog was unleashed. He just made the foolish assumption that his dog would never attack. I used to have German Shepherds - a Collie attacked my bitch and then bit me when I separated them. I trust no dog whatsoever with children or even adults. When people say "my dog wouldn't bite anyone", I have to smile. Any dog is capable of snapping, given the provocation. Problem is that you can't read a dog's mind to know what causes them to snap. This incident is a tragedy and if the owner has a banned breed, then I trust he will suffer the consequences. However, I see little point in rash generalisations about Staffies, English Bull Terriers, Rottweillers, Akitas, German Shepherds etc. When walking my dogs over a twenty year period, a number of smaller dogs have lunged at them - Poodles, Jack Russells, German Shepherds, Staffies, West Highland Terriers and more. So please - judge the individual dog and owner, not a complete breed.
  7. Mate bought a Browning XS, with adjustable stock, for £200 recently. Slight corrosion on ejectors, needed barrels re-blueing and chokes were stuck in. I think it cost him £140 to put back to VGC. Makes you sick.
  8. My friend Mark has a Winchester X2 - done nothing - £350. In your area.
  9. Lord Geordie - Thanks for that. After seeing the price, I fainted, but have recovered sufficiently to realise that I could fasten my existing gun slips together. I have seen them in the past where they were sewn together. Plan B - get wife busy with needle and thread. Happy New Year.
  10. Anyone know where you get the double gun slips to hold two O/U's? Not seen any in recent times.
  11. I paid £93 at kelbrook Shooting School - Lancs. / Yorks. border. At that price, I would buy more. If they stick them up by £10 per thousand, I will go elsewhere. I get Victory Sporters at £100 per 1000 and would stick with them or Challengers. It's not that they aren't worth it, just don't like getting ripped off.
  12. How much do you pay for them?
  13. I normally use Victory Sporters. Very good shell, cheap. I also have been using Victory Challenger 8's - quick and relatively cheap. However, bought a 1000 Eley Olympic Trap 7 1/2's for £93. Clean burning and pretty damn good. Well impressed. Haven't used any for about 15 years, but I will be using more.
  14. At that sort of money - Browning XS. Lot of gun for your money.
  15. Are we talking oil finish or a paint job? Interested either way.
  16. All my guns are Trap guns. I like the weight and the high comb stocks. Any Remington I have picked up has too short and too low a stock. You don't see many Trap models. I could get one, but would have to start altering it.
  17. One in Ebay - just up the M6 from you. Stands at £10.51.
  18. There was a lad on here selling a Remington 1100 with two spare barrels for £250 the other week. Looked in good nick. The only thing I regret about Remingtons is getting rid. I am used to O/U 32"'s now - can't go back - I have tried.
  19. Michael - can do - just PM me an e-mail address. Gordon
  20. Got a Classic Doubles (Winchester 101) 32" multi-choke - with 10 chokes - for sale. Same Japanese manufactured gun, not the Italian version of Winchester.
  21. Remington 1100's have won Olympic Gold at Trap and Skeet. They also won the World FITASC Sporting championship in the hands of the great Duncan Lawton. Nice bloke, one helluva shot. I've had three 1100's. Nice guns. They are heavier than lightweight autos, such as Franchi and Benelli, but better for it.
  22. Got a Winchester 101 Supergrade Trap. 30" barrels - skeet and skeet. Mechanically excellent, no play in action, blueing very nice. Stock had medals in the side which have been removed and filled. Spare stock. £300, but not a penny less. Just don't use it anymore. Bolton area.
  23. They are not made by Lyalvale(Express), although they are distributed by them. They are made by Rio and re-badged as D and J. I have shot 2k of the plastic wad 8's - they seem okay. I have used 100 of their felt wads. I will never, ever use another. Quite simply the filthiest cartirdge I have ever used, including Baikal. Took ages to clean my barrels. I would not have them as a gift. That was in a Classic Doubles 101 Trap. My mate had the same problem in his Gamba. Truly dreadful.
