  1. A shooting friend has a Winchester X2. Fired about 500 shots. Asking no less than £400. He's fallen in love with a Beretta Technys - mega expensive, but doesn't look any better to me.
  2. They used to be Savage Stevens, if my memory serves. Decent make, well built, but I suspect a little older. Don't know what spares are like compared to Mossbergs, which seem plentiful. What price?
  3. Here are a few. There is a site called "Where to Shoot" - might be useful The South West ~ Avon Huntingford Sporting Clays Middle Huntingford Farm Middle Huntingford nr Huntingford Mill Charfield Gloucestershire Tel : 01454 325 349 - no website to date - Disciplines : ESP Lady's Wood SC Mapleridge Lane Horton Chipping Sodbury- look for The High Tower - Tel : 01454 294 546 - no website to date - Disciplines : ESP Littleton Clays Oak Hill Lane Hallen Avon Tel : 01454 417 722 email : brian.pearce@omegaland.net Disciplines : ESP West Country SC West Country Water Sports Trench Lane Winterbourne Bristol Tel : 01454 773 599 - no website to date - Disciplines : ESP Weston Lodge SG Valley Road Portishead North Somerset Tel : 01275 842 225 - no website to date - Disciplines : ESP Wrington Hill SG & Blackwell Claybusters Reeves Farm Long Lane Backwell Avon Tel : 01179 521 200 - no website to date - Disciplines : ESK, DTL, ESP Yate & District GC Tel : 01179 697 152 - no website to date - FARLEIGH WOOD LTD AFFILIATED 01373 831495 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MONUMENT SPORTING GUN CLUB AFFILIATED -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stockwood Vale Gun Club Affiliated 0117 957 0376 email us -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WESTON LODGE SHOOTING GROUND AFFILIATED 01275 842225 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YATE & DISTRICT GUN CLUB AFFILIATED 01179 697152 Good luck.
  4. Webber - where is Stan's - Lyndale? Toplands Farm at Woodplumpton - decent 50 bird shoot. Skeet range. Felt wads. Good, cheap food.
  5. Best gun I ever picked up was a Russian Vostok O/U. Nothing crude about it.
  6. Tony Kennedy was the last importer. You can get secondhand ones. I've had a lot of guns - still have two Winchesters and a Browning - but still looking for a 30" Laurona multi. They are blacked chromed barrels on the outside - mega rust resistant and chrome inside. Very strongly made guns.
  7. The noise - she should have expected. No sympathy whatsoever. Stray clays - that's something else. If they are sending clays on to her land, they will get closed down and rightly so. I shot at a club many years ago, whose Skeet range pellets kept rattling a local farmer's windows. The club couldn't understand his problem, which was stupid of them. They are no longer in business - I wonder why. Whether she is a crank or a bit over-sensitive, they are going to have to deal with what she says or the writing is on the wall.
  8. Get a Laurona instead. Better built, rust resistant and cheaper than Lanber.
  9. One of our Akitas - the fluffy 10 stone one. Not much use for retrieving or hunting, but he's ours. Now can someone tell me how to load the photo?
  10. Use anything but D and J - felt wads. Dirtiest cartridge I have ever used, including 5000 Baikal - 20 years ago. I phoned a gun shop last week and they insisted D and J are made by Express - which they are not. They are marketed by Express and made by Rio. They are cheap - I now know why. Plastic wad shells seem very good.

    GORDON BROWN?

If Gordon Brown becomes Labour leader, they can kiss the election godbye. Whatever his qualities or shortcomings, he is plainly boring. Voters will switch off. I am still not convinced he will win the party over. Someone will emerge to leave Brown even more bitter.
  12. I have two Japanese Akitas, but much as I trust them, I would never leave them with access to any adult, let alone a child. If we have children in the house, the dogs are locked out. They are fine if either my wife or myself is present, but you just wouldn't take the risk.
  13. Rishton - £10 for 50 - best food ever. Blackpool £20 for 100. A6 Gun Club £5 per 25. Bobbin Mill and Holmfirth - same.Seems to be the average. Bolton and Shaw and Crompton cheaper.
  14. I have friends who shoot a Benelli and a Winchester X2 - no problems with either. I have had proably ten makes of auto, including Beretta. Best made was a Fabarm. Best handling - Remington 1100.
  15. Grahm - thanks, but they are US only - will not ship abroad.
  16. Posting this for a friend:- Does anyone here: A) Have relatives in the states or travel to the states if the answer to either is YES I have a favour to ask... I am trying to get my hands on a couple of Benelli Gun Slips (or Gun Cases in the US) These to be precise http://www.impactguns.com/store/737618087696.html Problem is I cant seem to get anyone who will ship to the UK - Ive tried Beechwood, but they are useless - all they do are guns and some spares - no accessories So . . . . . can anyone help ?? __________________ Cheers Graham,

Try Ebay - awash with chokes in the hunting section.
  18. The rib matters only when you are waving the gun round in the shop. Once purchased and used for shooting, you will probably never, ever notice the rib - thin or wide - ever again.
  19. Try Ebay - they are usually awash with them.
  20. Mungler - shame you are not up north. I have a 30" Winchester skeet o/u gathering dust.
  21. Still looking for a Trap Laurona. Had a few in the past and nostalgia is getting to me. There msut be one out there.
  22. Rarms - conspiracy - he's charged with conspiring with others unknown to sell illegal weapons. If they haven't got anything, they wouldn't have got it through the CPS fast charging system. He is not guilty as yet, but clearly has a case to answer.
  23. If you can see any rib at all, your gun is shooting high. Your rib must not taper from the breech to the muzzle in a downward direction. This too, will shoot high.
  24. A mate of mine has one. Very impressed. Never seen a jam and decent handling. Prefer them to Berettas, which seem to have cornered the auto market.
  25. Suddenly gone off the idea. Hadn't really considered health risks to my dog. quote name='new to the flock' date='Sep 12 2006, 11:07 PM' post='215997'] Doing a controled breeding both dogs will be on a leash with handlers present. It is not uncommon for a breeder to want to breed back to a pup that they have bred in the past. However over here it is the breeders responsibility to have the hip and eye certification done and stud fees are; a pup back or the price of a puppy. Also be sure that the breeder has her bitch tested for k9 brucellosis (sp)...doggie vd... and k9 herpies virus as both can cause many problems for your male if exposed to the virus. NTTF
