  1. I'm not convinced the second Jill is pregnant now - when I checked on them last night it looked like she's come back into season again, although her teets are a little enlarged summers still looking like she's about to burst though bless her.
  2. This was one of my biggest worries to be honest. Thanks for the information guys, i'll let you know how they get on, Summer (my 1st jill) looks about ready to drop any day now
  3. Thanks for the info I spoke to a friend of mine this morning who has kept ferrets all his life and he thinks that both the Jills may be pregnant and one is trying to dominate the other (hormones etc).
  4. Great shot, any lower though and the fox would be missing his jaw I reckon.
  5. Hi guys, I've got a couple of Jill ferrets, one of which is pregnant with her first litter. The problem i'm having is the other jill has started nipping the back of her neck and attacking her . I've seperated them into seperate hutches for now, just wondered if any of you guys had experianced this before?
  6. This is the thing about differentiating between sport and pest control, I have a small permission where the rabbits are not a huge problem so I just take one every now and again (mainly to feed the ferret). On the other hand, I have a much larger permission that is 100% arable farmland and every single rabbit that I come across has to go, regardless of age or size.
  7. .177 FX Cyclone - killed far more scuts with it than I did with the Daystate or Air Arms
  8. Welcome to the forum mate, .22 is naff, .177 is the way forward
  9. Cheers, only took me a couple of days, putting a rope hammock tonight that I made myself Thanks, looking for 1 or 2 more. Also thinking about mating my remaining jill as she's just come into season.

Hope you have a good day mate, let us know how you get on and how it peforms - got my eye on one of those (eventually!)
  11. I've been on about making a new hutch for my remaining fert, with a bit more room for her to move about and play etc. As well as room for additional lodgers i'll be hopefully be getting this year I made the 1st half last sunday, and finished it off today. I was going to gloss the interior to make it easy to wipe and clean out etc. then the missus suggested lining it out with the spare lino from the garage, so the fert now has 'rustic oak' style cushioned lino under her feet It's now standing taller than me and about 4 foot wide, total cost of materials about £60 from wickes and my local hardware shop One happy fert!
  12. Nice one, sent you a pm mate
  13. As it says on the tin really, lost one of my Jills to a mysterious and sudden death a couple of weeks ago. Im looking for a replacement for her - any ideas? I've tried a local rescue place, but they say all theirs are failed workers and at £40 it's a bit more than I can spare
  14. Neither can I actually, we eventually got the house for £133,000 and the mortgage is now £760 month repayment over 30 yrs. I'm currently doing 11 hour shifts, six days a week at my full time job and 5 hours a night, four nights a week working part time - things were pretty stable until the mrs got made redundant last week, but she's doing her best to find something asap.
  15. Happy birthday Teal, hope you had a great one mate
  16. Know what you are feeling LB, so sorry mate. As others have said, you must have a ton of good memories to take with you - and you've done the best thing for your mate, chin up.
  17. I lost one of my ferts last weekend - saw her ok on saturday night, then on sunday morning she was curled up 'asleep' Anyway, my remaining jill is visibly lonely and getting a bit agitated when out and about. I've been trying to locate a replacement jill for the one that died (any advice on this will be appreciated). Then this morning I had the idea of mating my remaining jill, now I am still a novice keeper, but I quite like the idea of having a few baby ferts about the place - and having an excuse to build a bigger court for them any information / advice would be greatly appreciated guys
  18. Went back to the vets this morning and took the decision to put her to sleep.
  19. Thanks mate, I realise that. I also realise that most people dont regard cats as legitimate pets. In the absence of any close family network however, she IS a loved one. Im usually very upbeat, but I guess fatigue and worry can wear you down a little. Still gutted about the fert aswell to be honest.

    Gutted

We've had our cat for around 2 years, she's one of a kind and always been in great health - love her to bits. But for the last 2 weeks she's been struck by a sudden and serious affliction. A week of vets fees later, turns out she's got 6 seperate health problems all suddenly hitting her at the same time and she refuses to eat anything. That was enough to be deaing with, but then I went out this morning to feed the ferrets and found one of them (casper) had died in the night I'm going to try and find a replacement jill locally to keep my remaining worker (summer) company. Between the cat, ferret and holding down 2 jobs im feeling a bit bummed out to be honest.
  21. Depends if it's .177 or .22 surely?
  22. Not got one mate, have my eye on one though
