  1. Just watched the vid online, as already stated - LACS spokeman was a fool and the adsence of any alternative veiwpoint (BASC spokesman for example) is a pretty poor show. The biggest fallacy for me though was Craven matter of factly stating that Venison is sold for "around £2 per kilo" - whaaat! as if mate
  2. Now then guys, Had a pretty busy few months since I was last on here. Lots of changes and additions to life, not least with these two Zak is 7 months old now, lab / collie cross - retrieves ANYTHING lol, absolutely mad and has more energy than the sun more often than not. Nando is 5 months old, lab / wiemeraner cross a lot more subdued than zak but very obedient and loving. Both boys are doing very well although I dare say that i'll be on here from time to time to get advice etc from the more experienced amognst you. Jim

    Now Then

Evening all, it's been a while since I was on here last (March I think). Largely due to lots of work, moving house and relationship changes etc. Have to say I really like the new style forum - thanks to the management bods etc. Got a couple of dogs now (one of the perks of splitting with the ex missus ) so will be putting up a few pics etc shortly. Havent had very much time at all to get any shooting done, but am planning on getting the gun and lamp all dusted off very shortly and having a good few days with the ferts! Jim
  4. Barton mate, about 20 minutes from Grimsby
  5. Hi guys, sadly due to work commitments, the arrival of a couple of new pups and numerous other factors - I've decided to rehome my 3 Jills. The polecat (Summer) is the mother to the other two. All are healthy and well handled etc. Summer is 3 years old and the two sandys were both born last year. I'm not asking for any money for these girls, I only ask that they go to good decent homes were they will get the time and attention they deserve. If you can take all three, then I can also let you have the hutch that they are in at the moment. Any questions, please pm me Cheers, Jim
  6. Good Morning! it's been a few months since I was on PW, apologies to the guys who were wanting to buy the frontera that I sold in january, it's been a hectic time of late. I've managed to split up with my fiance, sell the house, get a new house, new car, new job and a new other half! lol It only took me 4 months Have to say although it's been a stressful time, life is a lot better this this of it - I have a 10 week old pup (lab x collie) that i will most likely be seeking advice for in the future and I'll be joining the local clay club soon as my new neighbour (as luck would have it) is a great guy and also a member there hope you guys have all been keeping well, Jim.
  7. Now then guys, im selling my trusty fronty as ive just got a new company car. Its on a P plate (1997) with just under 90,000 on the clock. Tidy car, very reliable. 5 good tyres, full stainless exhaust, T&T. Looking for £600. Will post some pictures tonight. Jim.
  8. Really sorry to hear of your loss, I've lost a few close companions and it never gets any easier. Best wishes.
  9. I've got a cracking little FX Cyclone in .177 that i've been considering trading in for a while - any good?
  10. I'm a head chef myself and as others have said - there isnt one manufacturer thats above all others etc. At the end of the day, its not unlike your rifle / shotgun - it's down to personal preferance. The japanese (global) knives are very light and easy to maintain, i've had a couple for just over 10 years and they still get used every day. The germans (henckels, wustofs, gustav emil ern) make heavy solid knives that are excellant but require a lot of care to keep them in top condition. The french (sabatier) make knives similar to the germans although not as expensive - you will be hard pressed to find a chef above the age of 30ish without at least a few of these in his box. The swiss (victorinox) make a vast array of good quality knives at good prices, as above, i think you'll be hard pressed to find professionals who dont have a few of these knocking about. I own several knives made by each of the manufacturers named above, and i use them all regularly for various tasks. At the end of the day it's down to personal preference and experiance. Perhaps get the lad to visit a good quality cooks shop (with knives on display) so he can handle them for himself and get a feel for whats comfortable for him, you dont need to buy them there and then. Have a look at Nisbets online aswell, you get a discount if you spend over certain amounts etc. Hope this helps
