  1. Was in an antique type shop this weekend, I bought a 1930's edition of Huck Finn for £2.00. Anyways, I saw a cabinet full of medals from all over the world and various ages. One of which was an american medal awarded to a sergeant in WW1 - it even had his name enscribed on the front of it, and what he received it for. It was for sale in the cabinet for £20 got me thinking about what he (and the other people who originally won the other medals) went through to get their medals and how they ended up in that cabinet, kinda sad in a way. And also fascinating.
  2. A friend of mine has a HW100 FAC running at approx 18 ft/lbs in .177. He loves it, he also has a 40 ft/lb Rapid in .22 and a 12 ft/lb S200 in .177. He uses all three in his profession (pest control)
  3. When I bought my SWB 2L Fronty about 2 years ago, the exhaust and manifold was rotten and basicaly knackered. I had a quote from a garage for a small fortune and eventually got a full stainless exhaust fitted (with a lifetime gaurantee) for a couple of hundred quid
  4. Not seen it yet, bit bumed out that kates not in it though - she's very easy on the eyes

I have one of those italian coffee pots that you unscrew into 2 sections and put on the stove. I've had several machines and plunger jobs but nothing beats the morning brews I have now
  6. Is a great story, shame jude law couldnt manage a russain accent and ed harris a german one.
  7. Just reading through the most recent issue of the mag, interesting article entitled - A brief (and extremely random) history of British game shooting. 1066 - William I introduces laws making hunting the sole privilege of the King. Offenders are blinded . 1080 - William Rufus adds castration to penalties for poaching . So either being blinded wasnt enough to deter people or prevent them from reoffending, or they just thought that being blinded simply wasnt punishment enough Like this one also: 1823 - July 2nd, Lt Col Peter Hawker observes in his game book: "I made a ridiculously good double shot this evening at a bat and a stag beetle" Riiiiiiiight
  8. Walther, Umerex and Brocock are all under the same company, not sure about the others.
  9. My Dad went out to Bosnia back in 1994-95 to build bases for the armed forces over there, he was getting around £400 - 500 (with no kevlar) a day if memory serves. Heard lots of stories when he came back, like the entire place being locked down because an american soldier 'lost' his rifle and seeing 30ft containers of fruit brought in the feed the troops - left to rot because the troops prefered the stuff from the 30ft mcdonalds and cokeacola containers, whilst the locals went hungry etc
  10. Personally I wouldnt go near any Nissan vehicle at all after my experiance with my Navara - the customer service / support is non exhistant. Just my 2p worth
  11. I have a dedicated stanley knife for skinning rabbits, as you can adjust the depth of the cut and it's always like a razor. I sharpen my 2 opinels on an oil stone and they are always bloody sharp. As for the kitchen - I have a chantry
  12. The RWS 500 is the same rifle as the Daystate Air Ranger, only exception being the shrouded barrel and stock being of differant material

  14. I sky +'d them all, not watched them all yet. The blonde moron of the rabbit programme had no right or reson to be there IMO. I wouldnt mind spending a few days on tha estate with Arthur and co
  15. I get £1.50 per rabbit skinned & gutted at a local butchers, or I can get £1 each if lft intact at another butchers.
  16. If you can consistantly get tight groups up to 30-35 yards and can accurately put the pellet in the kill zone then you can hunt any of the legitimate air rifle quarry species.
  17. Christ! i'll stick to me cyclone cheers
  18. Where would you get .45 pellets from? and how many shots per charge do you get?
  19. I got a 1L Stainless Thermos flask from tescos it's had a few knocks and still keeps the coffee hot all day :o
  20. One of my ex's refused to fill her car up because the petrol might go out of date in her car before she used it B) A friend of mine also told me about a lass he used to know who he helped pass her driving test, he was testing her on her road signs: Mate: why are stop signs a unique shape? Girl: dont know. Mate: it's so you know what sign it is even when it's covered in snow. Girl: thats a good idea, they should do that with all the signs
  21. Firstly, welcome to the forum mate As for your questions: 1. The only way to accurately test the power of your rifle is to run it over a chronograph, you will need to know the weight of the pellet in grains to do this. As already stated, a gun shop or a gun club is your best bet for this. The legal power limit for an airgun (either .177 or .22) in the UK is 12 ft/lb, any higher than that and you will be breaking the law . 2. The best way to do this (for me at least) is to set out several paper targets at set distances (10 yrds, 15, 20, 25, 30 etc), set your zero at 30 yards and shoot at the other targets to see how your trajectory alters - in .22 you will notice this easily. 3. I dont reccomend doing anything to a gun other than cleaning it and shooting it, if you think it may be waning a little - take it to a gun shop for a service and perhaps ask then to run it over the chronograph at the same time?. 4. Try as many differant pellets as you can, they all behave differantly in differant guns. Have a look here: http://www.pellpax.co.uk/acatalog/Pellpax_SAmple_Packs.html the trick is to find the pellet that groups best in your gun. If I were you I'd get the gun serviced and chronod, find the most accurate pellet for the gun and then practice on a hoof load of paper targets until you can consistantly get several shots within a tight group at various ranges - then you'll be able to humanely dispatch any airgun quarry humanely B) N.B - i'd also have a read of the BASC code of conduct thats pinned to the top of the airgunners section to brush up on the law etc. Hope this helps mate.
  22. I saw rabbit legs for sale in a local supermarket last year. I was surprised to see them, and had a closer to look to see how much they were, on the label it said "not to be frozen", this means it must have already been frozen at some point, so I thought - how far have these come if they need to be frozen? Answer on the label - all the way from ruddy china!

    Scumbag

I got burgled 4 years ago in my old house, guy broke in, nicked my keys, t.v, clothes (go figure) and both our mobiles before getting into my car. The lass I was seeing at the time heard him and woke me up, I charged downstairs (naked) and into the driveway just in time to get run over by my own car Spent the night in the infirmary and still have the scars to show for it. Lucky thing was that the guy wasnt the criminal mastermind he aspired to be and rang his mrs on my phone which promptly led the rozzers to his door. I now have a decent alarm which I set before I go to bed every night and keep wallet, keys, phones etc upstairs with me. B)
