  1. Meant to put this up ages ago but still proud as punch with my first woodcock from New Years Day Shoot.
  2. Hi all, I have a perm which has to be handled delicately, it's a nice golf club which I have been trying to get for some time and now I have it. It hasn't born much fruit yet but one particular problem they want taken care of is a large decked area which the bunnies are underneath, it can't really be shot cause it's too close to the clubhouse and would have to be done at night or in the very early hours. It looks like a ferret situation to me and I need to know if anyone can advise as to whether ferreting is carried out year round or best to wait till later in the year? Many thanks
  3. The spoils to the brave mate, I don't care what the weather is doing if I arrange to go out then I go out, I've shot from -20 to +30 and every type of weather in between. Well done to you both for your commitment.
  4. Can't help with his whereabouts but if you call them they will prob help you out. Wiltshire Rod and Gun 135 Victoria Road Swindon Wiltshire SN13BU View Map tel: 01793 497455 email: sales@wiltsrodguns.com
  5. I don't think either of you have to worry to much.....when you get to the same stage as us Arsenal fans and have to stop calling it a "Trophy Cabinet" and just call it "The Cabinet" !!! Then you can worry. Roll on the end of March when we can once again start to sell bags of disappointment on the open market!
  6. I only ever call in when I shoot on one of my golf course perms (golf course members are more likely to call the police). It takes a couple of minutes to give a few details (name, DOB, car reg, guns, lamps etc) and get a URN and another couple of minutes to close the log down on completion of the shoot. Whereas a visit from the police on site can take much longer to go through all of their questions, I understand that we don't HAVE TO do it but it's not really a big problem and much the same as I don't HAVE TO tell my wife that I'm going to the pub but it saves grief if I do.
  7. I thought that when I re-read it but then I realised I also said well trained ;-)
  8. By far the most dangerous situation we have seen in years, a huge, well resourced, well trained and committed military force controlled by a macho power crazed nutter!! He won't care about political, financial or any other sanctions which leaves very few options to influence the situation.
  9. Unfortunately +1 Diagnostics on PCBs can take a lot of time and can also be very frustrating, if a good visual inspection doesn't show up any obvious damage salvage what you can (arms etc) and buy a new one.
  10. Only ever seen one of these before, used to hold a mates garden gate open. Makes you thankful for modern kit really!
  11. Ummmm well thanks for all your posts.....everything is much clearer now lol I kind of wish a hadn't started this one. I guess I'm left with...I can but I'm going to hell if I do....!! Anyway time to go and steal sweets from small children. All the best.
  12. Well done mate, a great description of your day and genuinely made me smile for you. Great for someone to spend so long putting a post together to thank people. Keep up the good work.
  13. I'll accept that this vote should only be taken by residents of Scotland but with a caveat that IF Scotland decides to break up the union then they have to bear all the costs of doing so, it's naive to think that this isn't going to cost a huge amount of money on both parts to try and unpick the hundreds and thousands of links between us and because of that if we have to jointly bear the costs we should jointly have a vote. neither country is in a financial position to go through this now...the worst part about it is the timing as we have just been through (are still going through) the deepest recession in recent history I am open to the romantic notion of Scottish independence as I'm sure many Scots are but, the breakup of the union for any reason should be negotiated over years and not months and it should be based upon solid truths and robust information not as a mechanism for political point scoring. IMHO
  14. I think Munzy has a mate that's selling one :-)
  15. Jeeeeeeesus......as bad as that looks how lucky is he??? Maybe needs to buy a lottery ticket this week Hope it all heals ok.
  16. Had my hunters since July last year and including wildfowling, pheasant drives, pigeon shooting and bunny bashing over flooded arable flooded grazing and very soggy golf courses they have held up well, excellent value, warm, dry and good ankle support.
  17. I would suggest that with any hide net whether stealth, ghost or MOD you still have to blend them in. I wouldn't rely on the net alone as I would hate to think that I could have done more to give myself every chance of a good bag. I have posted these pictures of my hides in similar threads to show how I use different nets and foliage depending on the surrounds and seasons so apologies to those that have seen them before. This is especially important when decoying crows but I build my hide to the same standard regardless of quarry. I take the same care when setting decoys and preparing my packed lunch. Not preaching but it works for me. And this one.
  18. Sir, your strength in such adversity inspires me, I too have seen the effects of the recent weather and only last week I had to let one of the help go so that I could pay for flood defences around little Elizabeth's pony paddock, obviously the pony isn't in the paddock at the moment as we shipped it over to the house in the algarve but you can't be too careful with these things!
  19. Don't know much about oil filled but as far as upgrading is concerned it's always worth seeing if the landlords will agree to meet you halfway on costs as they get the benefit of betterment which you can take into account if the opportunity to buy the house arises, wife is a lettings manager and most of her portfolio are oil filled which she insists on having some kind of monitor fitted to so that e tank never runs dry. I've heard her tell many stories of negotiations with landlords who eventually come around on this issue, obviously depending on whether you let it privately or whether it's fully managed get your agents to start the negotiations as it will cost less in the long run.
  20. Yeah was about that time, maybe the same flock. Was great to see and made the 3hour journey ahead go quicker as it was all I thought about
  21. The question was asked out of curiosity and a desire to know more....I hoped that people who have more experience in matters of Canada geese would provide me with that knowledge and thanks to those that did. My mistake was to assume that posting the question in the right section on the right forum would not bring a critical and unhelpful comment like that!
  22. Don't think they lifted from the trees as they were in a ball (like starlings ) and it was how I've seen them lift from the ground in previous years. The flock was huge in comparison to those that I've seen THIS year. Note to myself....control my enthusiasm and kill off my optimism.
