  1. I'll be there, all day both days, manning the IPAS (Iron Plate Action Shooting) stand in the Airgun section.
  2. As you live in a rented flat, you may be wise to check with your landlord. There may be a clause in your rental agreement that prohibits the storage of firearms on the premises. I hope you'll be OK as once you start, clay shooting is a fantastic sport. Kind Regards Bob
  3. Ah, thanks for the info and the link guys, most helpfull.
  4. Hi all, Please forgive my ignorance but What is it? who can play? and how much does it cost please? I have only just started clay shooting but as I live in Daventry, this looks quite interesting. All the best Bob
  5. Mine hs [CH] under the monoblock so from other info I have been sent, it would appear mine is 2011. I am really looking forward to getting to know this gun.

i'm just up the road from you in Daventry, and yes, same here. Where are you shooting tomorrow?
  8. Emtech will be at the shooting show in Newark. As I will be there exhibiting Iron Plate Action Shooting I will be paying a quick visit to their stand and have my ear impressions taken for a new set of internal ear protectors that still let you hear the spoken word. I have the Peltor Sportac but I will not wear them while shooting my new DT10 because I hate the thought of the things denting the top comb.
  9. Yes Timps, I'd read about yours nearly getting a swimming lesson. :o Those photos were taken before I had rubbed some English Walnut Preparation oil in to the wood. That has given it a nice sheen and seems to have brought the grain pattern out even more. One fellow has messaged me to say that when he bought his "new" it was in fact 3yrs old and on top of that, when he traded it in, the young lady who dealt with him found a hairline crack in the stock by the top lever - apparently a common problem. Does anyone else have experience of this, or know how to check the age of the gun via its serial number?
  10. They didn't but it's close enough to Kettering/Wellingborough to be well worth considering. Lots of shooters attend Kibworth from both these areas, also Corby and Daventry. So, in the spirit of being helpful to the original poster, it was worthy of mention.
  11. LOL SOD OFF!! It is not a EELL, it has the rather plain action but it does have lovely wood (a bit like me when I saw it
  12. Following on from above, my SGC finally arrived Yesterday morning and I picked my new DT10 up from Matt and Hanna today. It was bloody cold but not a breath of wind and I had a fantastic time, allbeit alone, shooting 50 clays.
  13. Knowing my luck I'd end up throwing my gun and trying to shoot it with a bit of clay stuck in a lump of rubber.
  14. I also shoot at Kibworth. Quite a good ground with good facilities. The 100 bird shoot may soon be discontinued so it might not have to be avoided soon.
  15. I have a beautiful DT10 waiting for me at Doveridge. All I need is for Northants Police to get my bloody SGC delivered and I can pick it up. I can't wait to get my hands on it and join some of you folks. Reading these posts makes me all the more eager.
  16. Thanks for your replies chaps, much appreciated.
  17. I am a returning clay shooter. I am by no means experienced as I only shot local, non competition stuff before I stopped and have just decided to return to the discipline. I have just bought a new DT10 and after doing so, decided I would get some instruction/help from a coach. I was taken to a pattern plate where shots were fired and adjustments made to the combe of the gun until the pattern was centred on the image and roughly 60/40 above/below the image. What I did notice was recoil. Before any adjustments to the gun were made, I was kicked quite hard on the cheek bone. After the work on the pattern plate, the felt recoil on my face was very much less infact I would say non existent. BUT the recoil always felt harsher when shooting the pattern plate than it did when shooting clays. This is the bit I can't understand and why I have bothered you all with this post. Why would shooting a clay from both gun down or pre-mounted positions produce less felt recoil than when shooting at the pattern plate
  18. Yes, I'll be there. I'll be dressed in Black with Gold IPAS printed on my shirt and baseball cap demonstrating Iron Plate Action Shooting with my team using CO2 pistols.
  19. I vote YES, Sack her. Not just because the comment was "racist", although in these days that is reason enough, but because it shows an appauling lack of judgement, extremely high level of childishness (on her part), an unbelievable amount of ignorance and an unaccaptable level of bias to one section of community. ALL of these things are why this stupid, arrogant, racist woman is not fit to be an MP.
  20. When I was searching for my gun, one dealer I spoke to said that the Browings were slightly more susceptible to rusting than the Berettas. This was seconded by another, independent dealer. The second chap did qualify that though by saying as long as you wiped the Browning down with an oily rag after each shoot it would never be a problem. The trouble would arise if you got home from a shoot and had some kind of emergency to attend to, put the gun away without wiping it over and went back to it several days later. Apparently the Berettas are more forgiving in this area.
  21. Well, Googling your head line "Blighton Clay Pigeon brought up several responses but it would seem that Blighton should be spelled BLYTON. If I am right, BLYTON is in Gainsborough and the clay ground that came up was one called Pinewood Pinewood Shooting Ground Sandbeck Lane, Blyton, GAINSBOROUGH, DN21 3LN I don't know if that is the one you wanted but it was all I could find by searching Blighton.
  22. Thanks Ed, so it's pretty much as I thought, a bit of a folly just to build up your average on one or two "easy" (if only there were such a thing at my level) grounds. Thank you all for your replies. All the best Bob
  23. That makes more sense to me. I haven't got a class and I think it will be quite some time before the issue is relevant to my ability. I don't even know which way to point a shotgun yet, let alone worry about AA A B C class etc.
  24. Hi and thanks for your reply. I can understand the bit about building confidence, particularly if you have recently gone through a bad patch, but the post which prompted my question made it seem as if some shooters just use so-called "easy" grounds in order to boost their standing, which sort of seems counter productive to me due to the fact that the next time they shoot a "shoulder to shoulder" match, their scores will reflect their true ability. A bit like cheating at a postal competition only to be exposed at a live match.
