  1. Same as pig watch or whatever its called, loads about and wouldn't worry to much about it either. When you find yourself on every similar site you get a free pen or something.
  2. Pretty good but a bit dirtier than others, nothing major though and the bottom line is they work.
  3. Best read if you have trouble sleeping
  4. My 390 loves wd40. Goes for 500 or so before I need to worry.
  5. The clear view nets are good, I use them, but still keep movement to a minimum, its the only thing I've noticed them pick up on and they can do it from quite a distance.
  6. Just DO NOT MOVE when they approach. Not even an inch, they won't see you. When they are fixed to land theydo just that, if you move they see it from miles away and go elsewhere. Dead still and no messing with it and you will soon see that you can have your head poking out over thr top of the hide. I do as I get bored sitting and have no issues. I've even stood still when they are coming in and I'm changing a magnet battery or whatever and they still come in. Just don't move. How simple is that. Well not very really but it really works. Dead still and youtrsr set.
  7. Big card board box packed tight with newspapers and than wrapped with tape to hold it together. Always worked for me. When there are too many holes in the front of the box just wrap more tape round it and carry on.
  8. My Beretta is 28 inch and considerably longer than my 28 in lanber o/u. I woukdnt go bigger, try some and see what suits you.
  9. Hmm now your asking, left them at parents as I'm moving up in a couple of weeks whilst the house sale goes through and I transfer jobs. I think they are flocked but to be fair the wings are what seems to bring them in, they are waxy paper and work great, bit like a flapper on a rotary if you see what ii mean. I would hedge a bet they are flocked but until later this month won't be able to confirm.
  10. Re the burglary aspect its simple,if you have taken precautions ie locked your front door then you have complied, you cannot have a situtation where an under 18 burglar breaks into your house committing a criminal offence and therby putting an I ncocent home owner and victim of crime in line for prosecution for failing to secure there home sufficently to prevent someone smashing a window in and stealing. An air rifle from ontop of a cubroard or wherever. Anyone who thinks differerent is mad or just arguing for the sake of it. In regard to preventing an undr18 having access then put it out of reach or locked in a cupboard or whatever, provided of course you have under 18's visit, if you don't then I wouldn't worry to much as if they don't visit/live there they won't have access to it. Edited for the amusing auto correct.
  11. I folded them back up and stuffed them in my bag, light as two shell decoys. Didn't make any noise when moving, certainly none to scare the birds. Pretty sure they would go on a bouncer quite easily as they just slip onto the rotary and screw tight. They moved about a fair bit on their own but worked great on the rotary, the day was fair from ideal but I am certain I only decoyed what I did thanks to them. And I am not a big fan of magnets if they can be avoided. The only set up required is slipping a wire thru some loops on each wing and there is the benifit that the wings etc won't come off. As I say they worked as well as a real bird does and weigh nothing so the battery lasted Mich longer, all day in fact when it normally does about 3 hours with dead birds.
  12. Send the wife shopping and then sneak it in, she will never know. Worked for me.
  13. You have to prevent under 18 year old getting to it, does not state a cabinet so a lockable cupboard, room, bike locked to a wall or whatever should do. Wait till they licence them......
  14. Jeans and t shirt in summer, I have a vest, made by Beretta or at least badged Beretta. Bigger than I need so I can put a fleece on in the winter. As long as it does not catch when you shoulder the gun and its comfy then get what you like. Being able to empty a box or two if carts into the pockets is handy too, sometimes I take it pigeon shooting just for that reason.
  15. Pretty sure a shotgun does not need to be in a slip, just unloaded. Unlike an air rifle. There is a lack of consistency in the firearms laws and it seems a need for education on both the police's and publics side. There's an easy 8 pages in this thread but I do think the point has been covered quite well enough.
  16. I thought I would try the pro flap from a1 decoys. Very impressed. They took minutes to assemble and fix to the rotary and being very light the battery lasted almost twice as long as it normally would. Now the interestig bit, they worked very very well, I saw at least twice pigeons changing direction from over half a mile away (binos were employed) and home straight in. There was a gentle breeze abd cloudless sky so not my fav decoying situation but still bagged 37 and to be fair they were attracted by the pro flaps. Was set up on stubble. Quite impressed and thought I should share a decent product.
  17. Fair enough. Off to bed. Have a field of stubble to shoot tomorrow hopefully won't get stopped by plod for having a gun in a field.
  18. Because everyone on here is an expert in grammer, pronunciation and spelling. Ok, fair enough. I shall try harder. However I do openly announce my profession when asked, I am not a pc, I do not know it all, no one does. I may not get to the point but to be fair I don't have to. This is pigeon watch and not get to the point forum. As for hated profession I guess it depends on who you talk to.
  19. Welsh, marki, I am not trying to rip peoples posts up, just help a guy whose son had grief. My Grammer may not be the best but I am trying to help. Clearly as plod I shouldn't bother as my fate is sealed on this site.
  20. Refer to my earlier post, I am on a phone, it auto corrects, I shall email the company immediately and express your concerns about its inability to deal with the English language. What part of the rest of my comment makes no sense, the part correcting your illiteracy or the part questioning your useful or not comments in relation to my comments on this thread whilst agreeing that the posters son has done no wrong?
  21. No, I'm a dc. There Is a difference. Albeit small. I have to forget my use of the English language to satisfy some of the pw community as well as pass other tests/exams and take my work home with me. Its illiteracy by the way. Out of interest, as I am trying to help a fellow shooter, how are your comments helpful to the thread? Would you rather I sit here in silence ?
  22. You try typing on this phone after a roast and bottle of red, besides I don't need a degree in English to accompany my other degree or understand the law. Something I'm pretty good at. Your attitude is It seems representative of the current climate, if I don't know where everything is, be able to diagnose every medical complaint, fly a helicopter, know ever single one of the 18000 laws let alone the European ones and case law as well as have perfect English, then I'm ****. Well well done. I look forward to your next post.
  23. Read your post again re it firing on an empty chamber, the mag might need cleaning and or the spring replacing. You can do this ykurselfi,YouTube is your friend
  24. Poke a pipe cleaner thru the bleed holes, see what come out. My gun is newer but its the same principle. If it fires and ejects but the problem is the reload then it may be the recoil spring or flappy thing that lifts the shells. good clean normally sorts but I know those springs are never changed and cause untold problems until they are. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
