  1. Good point I have re read it. He had done nothing wrong ignore the ill advice of the police. If it occurs again they need retraining. If I know the law and to be fair the only shotguns I encounter outside of my home or clay range are sawn off, then they should know, afterall I work for the same employer
  2. Quite simple, call plod as to speak to the duty officer, tonight. Explain what's occurred and ask for the immediate return of the gun, also state you won't complain as its clearly a learning issue and your sure a speedy solution is forth coming, if no joy complain big time, to the ipcc and basc. Also your son, on the facts as described had done nothing wrong, as far as I am aware it does not need to be covered either. Just unloaded. The duty officer will have keys to the armoury and will be able to return the gun tonight.
  3. Monies on The recoil spring has it ever been replaced? Don't cost much and the rest is enert metal that does as its told by gas pressure .
  4. Is this for real, because you can't afford the land you can steal from it, after all you were born here.... Is that like saying because you can't afford that nice tv you can help yourself to mine as I can afford it so its my fault you can't or something. Get a grip.
  5. Get it stripped and cleaned, lightly oiled etc. See how she goes with a few heavy carts. If it don't cycle completely then half the action is broke, the recoil spring that I believe sits in the stock and pokes the actiob forward after a shot. These wear out, not much else does. I'm sure it will be alive and kicking again shortly.
  6. This steel thing is bloody confusing, my al390 has 3 inch chambers and accoring to the proof marks its proofed for the same pressure as steel but hasn't got the steel shot proof stamp. Being the curious type I asked the gun smith, his reply was no worries if using under half choke and pointed out the yanks don't proof test for steel and have used the guns for years with no worries. I fiqure a small bit of steel here and there with quarter choke won't hurt.
  7. For a few pennies extra why worry about range and just use size 6? Each to their own and all that but range finding is hard to start with so size 6 removes some considerations and makes life easier. I know 7.5 does the job in the right place as done it myself but still use 7. Or 6 where I can with a preference for 6 as it does so many things.
  8. Arjimlad has it about right really. Not so drunk tonight. Arjimlad has it about right really. Not so drunk tonight.
  9. Its simple, it works. That's it. It works. Better on a pcp but just as well on a Springer. The firer of a Springer will heard spring noise etc. 10ft away you won't and its almost silent . thats my experience and I've had plenty of silenced springers. For a few quid its worth it.
  10. They are useful not brillantx 3 in 1 at a push, same as wd40. Get some rods and brush with a jag, kitchen roll. Oil, scrub, jag with roll, scrub, clean bit of paper, squirt of oil and then wipe up with the mop. Take the chokes out, clean and grease or oil the threads , either will do, replace. Wipe the barrels over with lightly oiled cloth. Pit away. Takes minutes Grease metal on metal uf u like, sorry about typos, had a bottle if red. Look afterbit abd it will look after you.
  11. 12 bore size 6 30g or size 5 32g will do all. Forget any talk of small or extra large shot for the steel plated Crows/pigeons. Its all talk, especially under 40 yards which still present a very interesting target . If you fancy a 20bore or even a 28 you can, but the cost of shells will go up and to be fair the benifits unless you want a very light gun and potentially high recoil, don't.
  12. Wel mine is costing a few pennies and I can't wait. Promised her we would go back so kept that, albeit late but hey ho. Loking forward to lots more shooting and time from work.
  13. Wont add any range but might be easier to shoot at range given its a bit flatter shooting. Go over your kit and make it as noiseless as possible, walk into the wind and avoid bright moon lit nights.
  14. Ok whose done it recently? I've had enough of london transfered the job ( waited 8 years for the opportunity) sold my flat, bought a house in the country and going to get a gun dog. When I say gun dog I think she who must be obeyed has decreed a cockerpoo ( it might fetch things and will get gun dog training, apparently (details)) Life's to short to waste in the big smoke and I miss my second home of lincs. Any pw peeps in or near market rasen?
  15. If you want to work there is work, your better off on the dole getting it all paid for a previous mate of mine proved that, he asked me one why I did 80 hour weeks and quick shift changes an never saw my Mrs when he sits on his butt all week has his rent and council tax paid for, never puts his hand in his pocket and expects more each year.. he had a good point but I call it principle, stupid I may be but I sleep well at night which with my past is not easy at the best of times.as for the comments about hope you don't have to claim, well the last time I needed to I joined the army. I was 18. Didn't enjoy it but it helped out in a time of need, I grew up and got a job with some responsibility and an appreciation of money, something lacking these days. I know its not easy out there but if Starbucks or whoever are paying minimum wage and its all there is then take it. Not every job pays mega bucks. We all start somewhere. My father worked for 55 years and was laid off, they paid his stamp for a week and said no more. They asked him how many jobs he applied for and he passed over 450 application forms from tea boy to area manager, as an x director of a bank with 2 Degrees he couldnt get work but would have swept the streets as he was not lacking in moral fibre. I really wonder about the upbringing of children today if they are encouraged to stay at home and live of handouts. Makes me sick get a job, its not that hard provided you don't expect to retire at 22. edited for typos
  16. In fact why give them cash, why not vouchers to exchange for food? Think of the health benifits when they don't drink or smoke themselves to death on your tax's. Rant over.
  17. Its not just 56 quid a week, as said above its rent, council tax, medical, etc etc etc, add that up and its on minimum wage. Why not get them picking litter and encourage them to get a job if they want to live better. The state's did this and unemployment fell overnight. How surprising. Besides thr dole is there to stop you starving to death yet every time I visit a council house they have sky, 50 in plasma tv's, nice BMW on the drive, kids in designer goods, smoking fags, yet don't work. That's my tax, your tax, paying for that why not ask for something back.
  18. Only ever noticed a real difference with the good stuff when I have a turbo, it is very noticeable then. Even with a n/a car there is s difference but most won't notice. I think top gear did a show on this and the turbos were 20bhp up on the good stuff but normal cars didn't change.
  19. Your kids dealing drugs, a neighbour complains, are you going to deal with it, is it news to you? Somewhat doubtful or he/she wouldn't be dealing drugs in the first place. Come on lets have some not some common common sense.
  20. Nice guy, good with neighbours, only young, just a bit of weed. Just like the lad who threw a .45 colt semi with 5 rounds at me when I smashed his door in. He is now doing 9 years to consuder his life choices. Call crime stoppers and let the police do their job.
  21. The choice is staggeringly simple, 1. Don't grass hi. Up to the plod (crimestoppers is truly anon) ans hope its just weed, that he's not a runner for some guy with an m 3 and he isint storing other things there under fear etcetc etc, and that a junky doesn't kick you back door in when at work for something nice to pay for his next fix. Or 2. Tell plod and let them deal with it. Maybe he's copying coursework but who knows, I bet plod with have an idea. Should it be legit I'm sure they won't raid him. Either way if you don't tell them, and do have concerns, and other stuff goes on, maybe some violence or whatever due to a drugs debt or rival dealer popping round with his mate's to take the gear (happens daily) then you can't point the finger elsewhere. As for some if the comments like dealers aren't all bad, I've met some really nice ones as well, wouldn't like to have been the guys they stabbed and shot when "working"
  22. Drink drive has no excuses, not fun dealing with the aftermarth weather its 3 pints over 2 hours or the next day, a dead body is still dead and I hate death messages . Completely avoidable with little effort.
  23. My hw99s was as quiet as a mouse with one in, I couldn't tell when firing as I heard the spring etc moving but from 10 yards you couldn't really hear it.
