  1. Tie a piece of cloth onto the bait spike and then rub peanut butter into itπŸ‘
  2. Think it's a very old conger eel hook, conger eels are renowned for spinning when caught and the eye of the hook was made like a swivel to allow the spin without throwing the hook. I think the hook shank was made very long to prevent it being completely swallowed so the eel couldn't bite through the fishing line.
  3. Talking about shooting somebody's dog is not the best way to start a conversation I completely agree. A dog can only be shot if actively worrying livestock, it cant be shot just in case it does.
  4. I frequently have issues with dogs off the lead especially this time of the year where I work. The problem is simply that we as the land managers and the surrounding wildlife don't know which dogs are well behaved and will stay at heel and recall if needed. The main problem is other dog walkers see dogs off the lead and will regardless of how well behaved their dog is will let theirs off, so it is a case of following by example and one rule for all. I don't think it's wrong at all to question why a dog is off lead, and unfortunately it maybe useful to remind some people of the consequences.
  5. As you well know it's all about shot placement and the shooters compitence. Your not going to kill a goose if you shot it in the **** with a 243, however a single shotgun #3 pellet to the skull will.
  6. I no expert nor ever owned a gas ram so hopefully somebody with more knowledge will help. I know the HW90 uses a Theoben gas ram and I just assumed that they were identical.
  7. I don't know but is it worth looking up HW90 for possible parts and diagrams? https://spares.bagnallandkirkwood.co.uk/weihrauch/weihrauch-hw90-spare-parts-2/
  8. Don't know if it complicates matters but I guess your gun is FAC and subsequently what parts of the pressure system are covered under that ?
  9. No issue at all so long as you can create a backstop by putting yourself in a suitable position, shoot from an elevated position and the ground becomes the backstop. Look at how foxes are shot in urban surroundings from upstairs bedrooms etc. Shooting from the same level as the geese with no backstop obviously not safe. 22lr subs head shots only at 60-70yrds in my experience, 17hmr chest shots out to 85yrds. I'm sure other will have their own opinions but for me this works. If noise isn't an issue I would choose HMR, your never going to shoot more than a couple each session even with sub 22's as the impact noise alone will scare them off.
  10. Just what I was thinking, not that that's a bad thing.
  11. The original advert before it was edited was along the lines of "Gun for sale, pictures later" and that was it, why not wait until the pictures, price, caliber, and what is included in the sale could be provided?
  12. "However, it is very clear that he is spending money on a scale quite out of the reach of any 'normal' farmer " Your not wrong, Β£25k for two chicken huts with 50 chickens, that's a lot of eggs to sell to (excuse the pun) recoupe the outlay!! It is amazing why people still farm in this country with all the problems associated around it but thank God they do.
  13. No because it can be used in a non FAC gun, don't forget only the silencer registered with your FAC airgun can be used on that gun.
  14. Thanks for the input. Basically I haven't used my FAC airgun for years since I got a 22lr. I'm not saying an FAC air gun doesn't have it's uses over a 22lr but not on my land whilst I own a sub 12ft/lb. Its an older PCP model being an RWS Excalibre (with a shot count of about 35 at 28.5ft/lb), looking at other older FAC airgun prices it doesn't seem like its worth much other than in spares hence my original question.
  15. I was wandering what parts of an FAC registered PCP air gun could be retained without restriction when it is scrapped? I would hazard a guess that the stock is obvious, but what parts of an FAC gun makes it FAC?
  16. I think half the problem with people is wishing to be seen as activists for a good cause led by celebrities, acting like sheep following the largest pack regardless of the truth. Easy to agree and click 'like' on a social media site than to be seen as against the norm. I don't think it helps when almost all natural history programs anthropomorphize everything these days, people just don't seem to grasp how life and death are interconnected. If people can't grasp certain concepts then their voices shouldn't be heard.......but then I guess we would be accused of bullying and non exclusivity.
  17. Are you happy to be accused by Wild Justice of being a major contributing factor in the demise of the Woodcock despite the custodial stance that we take on their habitats? Like it or not the wealthy in land assets suitable for the woodcock and other susceptible wildlife are frequently of the shooting fraternity. This land in many cases exists purely on the basis that it supports shooting either directly over it or the areas adjacent to it, no shooting and these areas would most likely be changed to something more profitable and less environmentally diverse. Areas of adjoining land are regularly managed for shooting say by the addition of game covers, many are mixed covers which benefit a whole array of birds in particularly those that are red listed. Money generated on large estate shoots is often put back into to land in the form of new game covers, tree belts, hedges and to subsidize less profitable land adjacent. I know that without the shooting industry where I work and live we would lose so much wildlife. Wild Justice seem to believe that without the shooting industry wildlife will thrive, but how is that going to be possible without suitable habitats? So ignore Chris and Wildjustice if you wish but the general public and those that are anti shooting are lapping it all up and forming inaccurate truths that will become the basis of public opinion, public opinions help to create rules and the way we are going the future of shooting looks bleak.
  18. Just noticed on Facebook Chris Packham promoting Wild Justice's petition to ban the shooting of woodcock until the 1st December https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/619615?fbclid=IwAR137eGxy3IsIPSo7GpVk7bax7oQwPgPlOsGV04yvqK8t-x9Psj9H7sInOY Looks like I've come to this late as it ends on the 25th Jan. From what I understand the main cause of decline in woodcock numbers is the loss of habitat, funnily enough I believe the shooting community is the least likely to be the main cause of this and the most likely to create and maintain habitats that are suitable. Make of it what you wish .......
  19. Milner Off Road will become your best friend if you own an L200, great for UJ's, bushes, suspension parts, bearings, front axles etc.
  20. When I shouldered a Kofs and Yildiz I found they put my eye at a different heights in relation to the rib so you need to try each gun. I also found the Kofs trigger to be much much heavier than the Yildiz however this may have been a one off.
  21. Not what your really asking but, I've been there and done that for the same reason. Not worth the change in calibre in my opinion, better off trying to improve the gun fit or gun weight. I bet you will still be shooting 21gram cartridges or similar which will be cheaper in 12b than 20b.
  22. I'll take this please if you'll take Β£35 inc PP. Payment via PayPal FF? Regards Dasher
  23. Problem is trying to find anyone with an open FAC slot for a 9mm garden gun, I'm not sure on what grounds a licence for one would now be given.
