  1. We also give £50 million a day that's £50,000,000 to the EU. Money could be better spent at home I think .
  2. Never let facts stand in the way .He's only following in the tradition previous Scottish leaders ,Blair and Brown, when did facts ever bother them ?
  3. I left Lichfield in1979 .Went back last year for the first time in 20 years .Only 5 shops in the town still the same . Essentially still the same place I grew up in ,so hope you enjoy your stay .
  4. At least Bettinsolli and Ylidz have been around for a while and from what I have seen the Yildz are OK but like all guns of there price will depend on how much hammer its going to get. They also seem to make specific small bores nor smaller barrels on a standard frame . As to the rest Personaly I would avoid .
  5. Up to you but I have seen a "heritage " up close and think it is ugly gun that has no saving graces at all .Compared to B25 custom grade that it is supposed to copy .As far as I am concerned B25 every time . If you want to use 3" steel buy something cheap and nasty so it wont matter when the barrel is damaged .I have seen thee guns with barrels scrapped by steel shot in the last year .
  6. What I don't understand is why if the Scott's want independence do they want to remain members of the EU ? This will mean far more rules and regulations that ever ,or is it just so Mr Salmond can have some one else to blame as there will not be the "Westminster Government " to blame for all ills ? Membership of The EU for a new member and that is what Scotland will be considered will have to have the Euro s it currency as a matter of course which in turn will mean that all budgetary plans will have to be approved by the EU ,in effect negating any independence the country will have gained . Personal I feel if they leave the Union the they should forfeit any right to its currency .
  7. I have said my piece about gun fit on this and other forums so I will not repeat it . Appears to me that a number of gun dealers staff have little knowledge about gun mount , fit and handling .This should be an essential part of their job . To be able to advise you on the gun that is most suitable for you and to be able to advise you on stance , mount and fit .So that any novice or new comer to the sport is given good practical advice and not stuffed up /palmed off with something that is not suitable .
  8. . If its stamped at .729 it will be fine . It is guns that were stamped at .719 that were the problem .Been a long day and I left my reading glasses at work so I misread your post . That's my excuse any way. Sorry about that and apologies for any worries I may have caused . I have withdrawn my earlier post to avoid any further confusion . As my old foreman used to say "we all make mistakes ,even me and I'm perfect ".
  9. Paddy you were very lucky ,Pray tell us when that was and who did it as I can send them some work .
  10. As its Birmingham proofed it will have a date stamp .Is the proof size .729 or .719 ?
  11. Not a lot I'm sad to say £30 to £50. Cases have to be in fairly good condition internally and externally to realise any great value . The Blanch label is only of interest to the owner of a Blanch gun of that era so your market is limited .
  12. I bet I know someone who wants one .Must be his lucky day.
  13. Years ago when I did a lot of air gun repairs ,when all else failed I have resorted to heat . Heat gently and evenly with a large nozzle gas torch over a larger area than the blockage push out with a rod and allow to cool slowly. Never had a problem . After all sight blocks and swivels are brazed on as were barrel lugs on air guns and .22LR's
  14. Mechanically they will all be the same ,wood work and ribs will vary dependent on specific specification ,trap , field , sporting . Funny thing about guns is that if you have 5 identical guns of the same make and model one will always feel better to you when you handle them . Price is certainly a major factor but if you pick up a gun that feels right even if it is a little more than you wanted to spend ,weigh that against costs of possible stock alterations and the nagging feeling that the gun you bought wasn't as nice as the one you didn't .
  15. Unless someone has a scrapper I think you will be very lucky to find one . Not the sort of thing that dealers bought for stock so no chance of some one "having one on a self some ware" 'BWM wont have any as the 800 was before they were set up . Just possible one of the US stockists may have one but shipping out of the US is a problem . Good luck in your hunt .
  16. Lengthening the chamber is not a problem ,proof should be OK provided the barrels are in good nick .Later GP's were 2&3/4" but if memory serves me correctly the length of the breech block is not long enough for a 3" case .Not so much the loading but the extraction after firing .
  17. If the front trigger is articulated then it will probably not swop over as they usualy have wider blade than the back , they can be set so they are more friendly to a lefty . Double discharge or both going off together is another problem . Could be that the sears are worn or that they are to hard on the trigger blades .I would consider the gun to be unsafe as it is and strongly advise caution until it is fixed .
  18. What ever you decide don't buy a cheap pad ,they never finish well and usualy look poor .Is it a recoil problem or just to lengthen ? Personaly I like Pachmayer .
  19. Early Miroku's had disc set strikers as do some O/U double rifles ,but apart from these I am hard pressed to think of another . What usualy happens is that the front end of the striker breaks off at the root base were the larger diameter of the striker starts and gets caught in the return spring so that it dose not actually fall out and will often work for quite a time , but get it checked .
  20. Most people in my experience who shoot 16 bores will tell you what a good gun they are and would not go back to a 12. It was once explained to me that the 16 has better ballistics due to the size and shape of the shot column but I leave that can of worms for others to debate . As said cartridges are more costly and less choice . I do know that enquiries for both new and second hand 16's have increased of late but whether that's a trend like the quest for longer and longer barrels remains to be seen. It all coms down to the individuals choice .
  21. If I am wrong then so be it , but it is my understanding that this 5 pence is a tax introduced by government not a charge for the bag its self . If this so then why hasn't the same tax been levied on plastic drink bottles, starbucks coffee cups, plastic trays in chip shops and burger outlets, that put things in disposable containers whether they are taken away or not etc. As I said I am not against minimising waste and that includes recycling .I am all in favour of clean air and cutting pollution . What I do not believe is that a 5 pence tax on a plastic bag will do any of these things . If you want to talk about democracy then look up the figures as to how many people actually voted for assemblies in Scotland and Wales . This is an emotive issue and we might have to agree to disagree on this point .
  22. I am not opposed to clean air nor am I opposed to minimising the amount of waste we produce I do not believe that taxing plastic bags is the answer when so much else can be done but it will mean a fundamental change for instance the return to using reusable glass bottles instead of plastic . This as I see it is all part of the fact we have been lied to so many times over the last 40 years by successive governments ,blindly obeying EU laws and directives without telling us that the government of the day no longer has the power to govern us . If enough people stand up and protest maybe the truth will come out . Such as the whole con about "carbon emissions " and so called global warming or discard to protect fish stocks .Laws mean control and obedience of a population , look a Stalinist Russia . Do you want us to end up like that , because as I see it that's the way its going .My action although it may seem petty was a protest ,think of it as democracy in action . So when lead shot is banned by EU directive are you just going to say, Oh well never mind ? End of Rant .
  23. Went into a supermarket in Wales when on holiday and was told that if I wanted bags they would be 5 pence each . Told them to put all the shopping back on the shelves and walked out .
