  1. Personally I would not buy either and go for a second hand Browning/Miroku or Beretta .
  2. Another point did you see the guns ? No multi chokes , No recoil reducers or adjustable stocks .I bet non had 32" barrels or 3.5" chambers . How did people in those days actually manage to shoot at and hit anything .
  3. Best that most people only get to see the best bits .Keeps the magic alive if the punter doesn't see the welding torch and the big hammer.
  4. There are numerous "safety " catches ,some work solely on the trigger as a physical block ,others detach the trigger from the sear and yet others act on the hammers or a combination. All depends on the gun O/U , SxS , sidelock or boxlock . Some work extremely well others hardly a all , dependent on the design ,quality of build and how well maintained. It is not uncommon to see older guns with half the safety features removed due to the trouble caused by the complexity of the design ,Bonehill intercepting box being a good example .One rule that all shooters should stand by is that a loaded gun on safe is still a loaded gun and should be treated as so .
  5. This is not an uncommon problem and requires what is call freeing . Basically when a gun is new it is a little stiff ,some of that stiffness is purposefully left to allow the gun to settle or bed in after shooting . Occasionally there are some surfaces that do not bed in so need a little help . There are however several things to check that may not be apparent to the "man in the Street" but to an experienced eye can be quickly detected .So it may not be just a matter of easing the bites in fact that could end up making things worse in the long run. Cost could run any thing from £35 to £65 dependent on if the gun need to be stripped. Where are you ? May be able to suggest some one to help

    Milton Keynes

Thanks for the feed back ,sounds mostly positive and like most towns you need to pick your areas . Will pass the comments on to those concerned .
  7. No land line . Suggests a part time outfit to me .
  8. Used to think he was an OK guy but in the 1997 election campaign he hijacked the Referendum Party slogan of "Keep the pound and save Britain" then went on to claim that the Conservatives were the only party that wanted to do so . Never trusted him since .Personally I can not think of a bigger threat to any country that closer ties with the EU .Ukrainians should as far as possible go it alone ,if the rest of the world will let them but not much hope of that .

    Milton Keynes

A family member has been offered a job near Milton Keynes .So honest opinions Gents whats the place like ?
  10. Colin at Wilds will see you right .
  11. Its worn but as there are several variations of design it is not possible to give a definitive solution . Probably the extractor slippers need to be replaced to compensate for the ware on either the cockint rod trippers or on the extractor its self . Needs to be looked at to be sure .
  12. Only 5? Well here's some in no specific order - Silver Machine, Hawkwind Amsterdam, Beautiful South Tusk, Fleetwood Mac Anything at all by Kate Bush [i know that's cheating] After the Gold Rush, Prelude version
  13. Afraid not ,if there was shops would be lavishing it all the guns they have on display . I have tried all sorts of things from lacquers to car wax .You also have to accept that some blacks/blues are dull and don't shine and there's nothing really that will make it better other than reblacking . Wax may give it a slight lift but its only temporary .
  14. Take it back to where you bought it from and let them sort it out !
  15. I'm not sure I understand the question ,do "low level surfaces mean coffee tables ?
  16. Pins are not hard to make so any competent gunsmith should be able to do so .Springs can be found . Or is it that you want to do it yourself to avoid paying someone else .
  17. Actually Berettas and Browning's /Miroku's and all other OUs shoot the same . You pull the trigger and they go bang and shot comes out of the barrel . The feel ,fit and handling are a totally different matter and that's down to personal choice .Its what rocks your boat .
  18. That's 12 bore smaller bore have different sizes continental guns tend to be in increments of .008" or .2mm , Spanish chokes are between set sizes in steps so there can be large tolerance even in one choke size .There is a sticky on another UK website that give s these
  19. These guys are not doing anything that Mandelson and Kinnock and Blair aren't so what's the fuss .Tax avoidance is tax avoidance ,its just that some seem better at it .
  20. As we import more from other member states of the EU than we export our withdrawal would not mean as our boy Clegg says pulling up the draw bridge , The Germans ,French and the rest will be falling over each other to sell us their VWs and Citroens ,wine and handbags scent and frocks . We on the other hand can make trading deals with individual counties and will not be affected by "protected status " rules so our cheese makers can make any type of cheese they want and export it world wide for example . We can get rid of the criminal discard of fish and control our boarders . One reason the EU does not want us to leave is the question of Ireland ,think of all the Irish wagons that travel through Britain ,so that in its self is a bargaining chip ,free passage otherwise all Irish produce would have to go by sea and that will be very costly .
  21. Dose this apply to the police as well . Live rounds were fired in a residential area in Darlington by police last Sunday . Police denied it at first but had too admit it later .
  22. Needs to be fully stripped ,bluing removed by what ever means you like ,acids ,polishing etc. If the action is hardened then there should be no problem but I always lacquer before reassembly making sure that there is no lacquer on any faces or bearing surfaces and that non has gotten into any where it may cause problems .
  23. Commercial thinners from a auto paint supplier is good .What I use . Best to warm it first to get it to sweat and wipe off excess oil with a tissue before soaking in any solvent . Will leave you with a "white " finish but should stain and oil Ok after .
