    BREXIT

😖 Whilst in Slovakia I parked in a disabled spot in a supermarket car park whilst my wife popped in to use the facilities. A passing cop car pulled alongside me and asked for ID. I handed it over and my wife returned to the car. The cops wanted to issue a ticket for parking in the spot. I asked my wife to tell them that they had no jurisdiction on a supermarket car park. Very reluctantly she told them (or at least I think she did) and they had to let me go. They were only looking for a tip and could see my Polish plates and though it would be an easy 20 euro. It will be a while before these countries catch up and that's were the EU pushes the agenda and helps them get there quicker. 🙂

Agreed. We should rethink the loans system and look to support key industries. We need proper vocational training (craft and skilled apprenticeships). Look at the often poor quality of training for students that do not want to continue to university. Where is their support? Better education will make more money for the UK and save money through reduced support services. I did not know that.

👍 Its not a vote winner but I would go for it. When I am in Europe i have to carry ID whilst driving in Poland and Slavakia. It's the first thing I hand over at the very frequent (looking for a tip) check points.

And there is the rub. The migration should be followed with support for infrastructure AND we should spend much much more on education reducing the need for migration.
  6. The democratic vote was to leave. We just have to work out how. The inept handling of the process by Government (Tories) is not the fault of the people.

Yes. All of which we can do. Make it a lot easier if we agreed to ID cards but that's another matter.

We know from the data that migrants make a net contribution. We can and should manage migrant exit better within the rules. If we need workers we should get them for the benefit of the UK. If we have a problem with schools housing etc then we should tackle the problem.
  9. And so it starts. All great protests in history start as an inconvenience and gather momentum. Have you never marched in protest? Rather be in the UK with protest on our streets than in China. It's not hard to imagine protest getting more difficult in the UK as our Government lurches to the right. Lets control them like we do the workers unions. No protest without consent.

Skewed but still in profit. The UK without London is a basket case financially. I reckon the ONS data is very complimentary to other regions given the option for home working complimenting regional incomes. They are already slipping away. At individual and corporation level.

I got one of these for the office.

How? The biggest encouragement for the creation of enclaves will be our Australian style points system with sub continent trade deals. Nothing wrong with immigration it just needs to be managed.

The data shows that for London even after such costs it's a net contributor. I would criticise the lack of facilitation for immigration.

This is the latest experimental data from the ONS but there are other earlier versions. Have a play with the interactive map. https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/governmentpublicsectorandtaxes/publicsectorfinance/articles/countryandregionalpublicsectorfinances/financialyearending2018#main-points

The South East is London over spill. Yes. Makes you wonder.

    BREXIT

With the South East as a feeder station pretty much yes. All regions and countries of the UK are in deficit with the exception of a bit of the East of England.

I am lost for words. Think yourself very, very lucky the UK has London. We can take a Canada deal any day of the week but Parliament has said we don't want it. It would have tariff for agri goods, rules of origin based on EU rules, costly customs checks for some and only limited service liberalisation. Still subject to EU regs with no vote.
  19. We have all these services here via HSBC paying checks in by phone is very useful and drawing cash at the PO a handy service. If Barclays are stopping the service I cant see HSBC being far behind.

    BREXIT

Ironic that the EU appears more concerned for the social and economic impact of Brexit on the people of Europe (including the UK) than the UK Government for it's own people. All as we hear from our political leaders are sound bites that raise a cheer from the masses. It's no wonder team UK comes unstuck when you put them up against a well disciplined and organised team. A team that knows in detail the substance and technicalities of the trade arrangements and the legal framework underpinning them. The earlier guardian article nailed it when it said . The state can no longer undertake the radical planning and intervention that might make Brexit work. That would require not only an expert state, but one closely aligned with business. Simply put we have, within government, neither the knowledge or the skills required to deliver a successful outcome to a poorly formed and ill thought out process.

The FTA (CETA deal) proposed had NI staying in the customs union and parts of the single market.
