  1. Had a moment this Saturday whilst out roost shooting. Was stroking my labs head and telling him that he was being a good boy for just sitting there and not whining when he suddenly raised his head and tracked a pigeon. This tells me that he is starting to suss it all out.
  2. Personally I would have a hilux, all the people I know with landies have problems with them, but they love em still. Get a hilux with rear diff lock and it will not disappoint.
  3. Nice to have a happy ending for once. Heard on the local radio that from 2016 all dogs will legally need to be chipped.
  4. I give my lab one a week, find this stops him trying to eat his kennel. Well slows him down abit.
  5. My Lab tries to walk when he is having a dump. Very frustrating when cleaning up after him.
  6. A great day and fantastic memories for both of you, I bet your son will remember his first day and shots for a long time . My Son has just progressed from a Yildiz 410 to a yildiz 20 bore, he too had a grin from ear to ear on Saturday after getting 3 of the 9 we shot together. I decided to get him a full size gun and got it altered for him, this way I can always put back on the 2 inch and use it myself in my old age. Size of bag is not always important, but quality time with my boy and teaching him the basics is time well spent.
  7. Shot a handful of birds roosting, every single one full of ivy berries.
  8. Got 4 yesterday roost shooting with 10 year old son Jack. Total 107
  9. Brilliant Pete. She looks just like our pat Molly. She is my beating dog and loves the hunt. I have to watch her with ground game though lol.
  10. Ordered a pair of hypa flaps yesterday at 13:30, received them today ready for shooting tomorrow. A big thanks to Sarah and the gang, fantastic service. Got the pw discount too. Quick test in the garden they look great. What do you guys think of them?
  11. Welcome, wish I had thought of that user name LOL.
  12. Hi Andy and Dog, welcome to PW. You will find lots of interesting and usefull info on here mate. Thought I had a problem or two with our lab Merlin ( 6 months old ) but looking through the forums seems that it has all happend before to lots of members and are just age related that they grow out of as training progresses. Enjoy
  13. Received all items, thanks Teal.
  14. Hi Teal, just ordered a mug and a couple of car stickers. Great site mate, have learnt so much and been invited to a clay club next month. Cool.
  15. I find that walking my 6 month old lab down the tram lines in a beet field has improved his heel work alot. He almost has to walk behind me with just his head level with my leg.
  16. Small world. Jack plays for the Wanderers, now called Ashmanhaugh and Barton wanderers after yet another merger. Not been fishing for along time.
  17. I know what you mean Lakeside 1000. Saw plenty of birds about yesterday, we managed to get 18 but should have been more like 50. Really struggled in a quartering away wind. Will do some cleys this winter to sharpen up a bit. Took merlin out this morning with jack on the starters pistol he was more interested in the dummy not the shot, , well pleased.
  18. Thanks for the warm welcome guys, like the Norfolk crest Whitebridges Young Jack is a keen cricketer and is in the Norfolk under 10s as well as enjoying his shooting. He is a better cricketer than me and probably be a better shot than me too soon.
  19. 1995 mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 lwb auto with muds 21 mpg. You don't wanna know what pajero means in Spanish lol.
  20. I second what Whitebridges says , the Buxtons and Lord Hastings own a huge amount of the North Norfolk landscape. Add to this the huge amount of land that is protected or national trust the woodies soon learn where it is nice and safe. Believe me it is not for the want of trying to gain permission. This must be the same in most Counties though.
  21. Thanks guys. I think the reason that I have not been out shooting is that you need to do so much field watching. Every time I drove to the farm and searched each field there was nothing time and time again, it soon puts you off even looking. With Jack now 10 and loving his new to him 410 and Merlin the the pup eager as ever for a walk there is no excuse not to be over the farm. Will keep you posted on how the two of us get on and in a year how the dog enjoys his first tast of the real thing. Les Jack and Merlin
