I decided, after much research and talking to lads that I know who shoot moderated .243's, to go for the Reflex T8. (I know from reading threads on here that some people think there's a potential rust problem, but my theory is, if it's well maintained it won't rust.......time will tell) The T8 was £199 and the screwing and proofing was £76, and they'll have it done in 1 week.

I've been toying with the idea of having my Tikka .243 screwed for a suppressor, and finally got round to sorting it this week, so called a few gunsmiths for pricing. The differences in cost of screwing only, ranged from £75 to £205 !!! Timescales ranged from 1 week to "About 4 weeks". On further investigation I found that 3/4 of the gunsmiths used the same engineering company to do their screwing. I approached the engineering company direct and they told me...."Yep, we do about 20 rifles every week, and we charge £50 for screwing, £75 if you want it cut, screwed and re-crowned" I eventually went through the gunsmith that quoted me £275 for screwing, suppressor and re-proofing, and if I get the rifle to them by next Monday, they guarantee to have it back by the following Monday. It pays to shop around......

An American friend emailed me today, and part of her email was........ "If these idiots ever picked up a history book instead of a Koran they might see what London looked like during the battle of Britain, and they would realize that they will never defeat Britain with bombs !" :(

Mrs Browning and I watched the program, and it had us both in tears. What an absolute bloody scandal. Heads should roll over this one. The other day I was listening to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2, about an Afghan war criminal that had fled his country and taken up residence here in the UK. because we have no extradition treaty with Afghanistan we put him on trial here. Total cost of his trial ? £3Million !!!!! Total cost of 10 years in prison? £30,000 a year for 10 years = £300,000 Total cost to this country (people like us as taxpayers) £3,300,000. Meanwhile the NHS is short of cash and employing low lifes like we saw last night to look after our war HEROES! This #### country just gets worse

Reminds me, I must get the wife a new razor.........

BD, One other thing I forgot to mention.....make sure you get a good set of mounts for your selected scope. Cheap and nasty mounts can ruin the accuracy of even the best rifle/scope setup.

Hi BD, I don't much experience of heavy barrel rifles, my only one was a Remington VSSF in .22-250, and I couldn't fault it for vermin control. Scopes however are different....I've been shooting, on and off, for over thirty years, and looked through more scopes than I care to remember. This year I upgraded to a Swarovski, 2.5-10 x 44, with a 30mm tube, atop my Tikka T3 .243, and this scope is absolutely the dogs b*ll*cks. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Does anyone have any idea where I can get a bore guide for a Tikka T3 .243 ? I've tried a web search but can't find anyone in the UK.

Extremely well put Mike

Maybe feeding less, but more often, with more excercise sessions would cure her ? I've always fed my dogs twice a day, and they get three excercise sessions a day. They always "empty out" during the sessions and never foul the run.

Happy birthday Mad ! Have a good one.

Hi Brian, you lucky ******, was that the Jebel Ali ground ? The Mrs is out there on business in September, so I'll be going with her again, ....see if Sheik Ahmed's needs a shooting partner again ! Cheers, Andy

Up at the farm over the weekend and my pal tells me he's aiming to start dropping his rape middle of this week.

Just ordered a set of RCBS dies in .243 caliber, and a set of RCBS scales from Cabelas.....total cost $83....approx £44. Total cost for equivalent in the UK ? Around £80 inc postage. Got them shipped to Mrs Brownings boss in the US, and he's bringing them to UK for me week after next when he visits. My local gunshop tells me his margins are very tight.......so who's making the money here?

Just heard on the news that hurricane Dennis is heading for Guantanamo Bay........Go Dennis Go !!!!!

My Dad and I have both written letters to our local Laborious MPs asking them to justify. If he/they ever reply I'll post it so everyone can have a laugh at the absolute rubbish they will no doubt write.

My 65 year old mum has just called me in tears. She has just been informed that, for the third time, her triple heart bypass operation has been cancelled.....WHY Because, yet again, they don't have enough beds in intensive care. No bloody government will EVER be able to justify to me how they can spend millions of pounds on trying to out-do the rest of the world, to enable a few athletes to compete for baubles, when they don't have enough hospital beds to treat critically ill people.

Rabbit Shot with .22-250 55gr Taipan HP
Browning replied to ashleybrook's topic in Sporting Shooting Videos
Surely a bigger challenge would be to use a bit of fieldcraft and get to within rimfire range? You'd then have something left to eat! -
Pity our government couldn't think of anything better on which to spend the colossal amount of money it will cost.......

Hi Mike, LBs advice is sound as a freebie piece of software. The important bit is the image resolution. 72dpi is ample for very good images on the web. This can be changed using the software that LB recommended, or you can do it on your camera if you're taking photo's specifically to upload to the forum. I would recommend saving them as a JPEG, you'll find that the filesize will be smaller than a GIF.
