When I say oil finish, im not after a mirror finish. IM just after a polished finish. A mirror polish would take hours! May be called a satin finish?

I would, but I respect it more than that. I don't think I could nail the chequering. @demonwolf444 - what do you think? Any examples?

Evening team, Im looking to send a Beretta 686 S stock and forend off to be satin oil finished. The current lacquer finish is looking somewhat shabby after many years. Do you know of anyone who is good? Im not wanting to spend massive bucks on it as its not worth that much. Send me options if you wouldn't mind? Ideally with references. Cheers 👍

I bought some 2 weeks ago in 3's. I must admit that the Eley Lightening have accounted for the same amount of geese. I went in for Bismuth but came out with Steel as its 1/3 the price.

In truth, not really. There are hardly any commercial shoots up here. Auchterhouse or Dunkled Clays are about the next closest good shoots. Dunkeld requires you to be caddied which I can't be bothered with as it adds to the cost for no real reason.

Steel has a minimum of 1/2 choke generally. Only a fixed choke gun can take steel to Full in my experience. -
🖐️ My local ground. I try and shoot it 2-3 times a month minimum. It generally caters for all with a dedicated bit for beginners / stag do types, but they are still good to get warmed up on. There are roughly 12 stands of sporting and a new Compak setup which I really enjoy. They also change the birds a fair bit. Its not majorly expensive and they have Hull Sporting 100 / Hull superfast / Comp X to buy to save you trailing them all the way up. Saturdays can be busy, I prefer a Sunday morning.

I have been, lovely setting but very driven orientated in my opinion.

I have never personally subscribed to the figure of 8 thing. It seems alien to me in fact - Its way to much to concentrate on. Personally, ditch the middle bead and cover the clay with the barrel.

I have seen this on vehicles with 70-100kg shafts and its not pretty. Its like a steel strimmer.
