  1. Sometimes life has many twists and turns. It seams to me that at the moment a lot of guys on here including me envy you your life style. It sounds idyllic although I suspect tough at times. ATB
  2. You just have to select your place sensibly and where you place your shot
  3. Jack pyke do reasonably priced t shirts and over gear
  4. You're having a great season fenboy and well done. You are obviously doing something right, keep it up and people will be pleased to be guided by you.
  5. OK thanks all that has put my mind at rest
  6. I'm not so much concerned about the fit or compatibility, it's more a case of has it had a replacement barrel,at some stage or is there another gun out there with visa versa numbers ie, Somewhere two guns have been mixed up. If they should be the same numbers, how easy will it be to resale. (Should he choose to)
  7. My son has a Beretta extrema and the serial number on the stock is different to the serial number on the barrel. I would have thought they should be the same. Does anyone out there in the PW world also have one and can you confirm this is the norm for a Beretta or not please?
  8. Common is similar size to say a turnstone, Jacks are smaller more the size of a Dunlin
  9. Size is important, but I would also say a common snipe. (Luckily)
  10. His is a very interesting story if you google and read up on him. I have contacted him about guns in the past and he has been very helpful.
  11. Congratulations to you both, what an exciting time. Christmas will be a blur this year for you and your wife I suspect.
  12. It all depends how close you are to a marsh I suppose. You're a bit like me, miles from a marsh. When I lived in South Yorkshire I used to work and apart from a few days off which I may manage if I knew the weather would be good for fowling, I just used to settle for every weekend on the Humber regardless of conditions. Now I really only Wildfowel a couple of seperate weeks in the season when I travel to Scotland and theit prebooked so can't obviously react to the conditions. For me and like many Wildfowlers it is just the joy of being out there. If the conditions are right and the birds messing it's a bonus for me.
  13. Yes you're probably right, for ONLY doing 70 in the outside lane. Then again it was the M25 so lucky we were moving at all!!
  14. It did cross my mind and I jokingly said at the time "I haven't been shot there's no blood" guess it could have been an air rifle!!
  15. Today whilst travelling on the M25 in the outside lane doing about 70MPH the window in my drivers door completly shattered with a very loud bang. For a second I wondered what the heck had happened, glass every where. Anyway I managed to get it booked into the main dealer for tomorrow for a replacement window. They were amazed that it had happened and so am I, in nearly 50years of driving it is the first I have heard of this happening. The obvious thought is a stone, but how would a stone from the opposite carriageway hit my window. At the time I was on a stretch that has the solid concrete barrier which makes it even less likely. Anyone else experienced this?
  16. Excellent choice and the right way to get a bargain.
  17. Typical rubbish press. I blame the people that buy newspapers. Don't buy them. Any of them.
  18. I agree with all of that. I do go to the shops / fairs whatever try them all out, but then buy second hand from somewhere like ebay. I have bought some cracking equipment all at a fraction of what shop retail would cost. If you are patient you can usually find what you want quite close by so you can even travel to collect. Don't buy new from a retailer.
  19. That's a shame, no point wishing for the time being then.
  20. I think it is a risk. If I was you I would wait until I was sure what I was getting.
  21. Fantastic photo. Falconry is one of the true hunting sports and it is great to see in recent years it is having a revival. My son was a falconer 20 odd years ago but we kept and flew only the lower value birds. He aspired to have a true falcon, but in them days the price was prohibitive for most. It is good that they are now slightly more obtainable for some.
  22. Is there any military type markings on them or any other markings? What material is the strap made off? They have the build look of Hensoldt or Bresser but difficult to confirm with no markings. I'm intrigued by the flip up rain guards. Do you not know some one who has a reasonable pair that you could compare the optics with. They could be a reasonable pair made for the military or some cheap Korean copy. Impossible to say unless handled.
  23. Thanks Cranfield. Those that have heard it. Is it a series of bangs quite close together or a solitary bang every now and again?
