  1. They dont have poisonous spines but... ..unless you know exactly what your doing with them that will kill you almost as quick as a bullet!
  2. Hi sorry i should have put that in originally its right handed.
  3. Another thumbs up here for a multi shot s200, i have owned and shot quite a lot of far more expensive pcp's and my s200 is just as accurate and reliable as any one of them. Cracking little air guns.
  4. I couldnt agree more. I find that it generally takes 15 to 20 minuits for them to reappear after they have scattered from the noise of a hmr or mach2.
  5. Heres my marlin in mach 2 calibre with dm80 moderator.
  6. It could bw as simple as clayman said here. I am right handed left eye dominant and before i knew this i was hitting about 1 in 15. After one lesson with a coach i would say that on pigeons and crows i was hitting 7 out of 10. It cost me £50 for an hours coaching but believe me it was well worth the time and money. All i do is close or squint my left eye.
  7. So how much are you looking at for a job like that then
  8. I think thats awesome, , unfortunatly i havnt got a gun worhty of such a job atm.
  9. Thats a hell of a bag there, well done. Ive had this happen before, only once as i dont make a habit of .22lr on fox but the bullet bounced clean off its skull. I think its probably to do with the angle of their head when head on.
  10. Good advise above there, but may i suggest that you have a good look round for places they might fing nice and cosy. One of the farms used to shoot had huge numbers of rats, regardless of how many i shot there was always loads, right up until he tydied away all the piles of wood etc that were nearby - no more rats! Also, nothing getts rid of rats quicker than a hard as nails cat, dogs are good but cats are like a 24hour rat killers that require no supervision. So a trip to the rescue centre for a big ropey looking male cat might be the easiest way. Sounds like a daft thing to say but im a bit jealous, i find rat shooting great sport and kinda wish i had a rat problem! Ive always had a cat and in 30 years ive never seen a rat or a rabbit in my garden and i live right in the stix. They dont tend to eat squirrells though so if one of them turns up he gets lead!
  11. I have a riflescope 8 x 56 mounted on it at the moment, i would like something like 10x magnification really but im a bit skint, new gun, boat engine recently packed up etc etc. Compared to a hmr (which i have got aswell) obviously the ammo is half the price, the noise unmoderated is a little louder than a moderated hmr but the bunnies dont seem to mind and none of my shoots really require a quiet weapon. Im zeroed at 100yrds, i havnt shot past 100 yrds with it yet but when the opportunity presents itself i will be happy to go out to around 130 yrds, the drop is still manageable at that range. I have achieved a 1/2 inch 4 shot group at 125yrds with my hmr but i havent had the mach2 long enough to really explore its potential for accuracy, but i will say that from a bipod i can count on one hand the number of bunnies ive missed and ive shot well over 100 with it now so its pretty accurate. The rajectory is pretty flat out to 100yrds, about half inch high at 70 so i have to aim a little low between 50 and 80 yrds. At those ranges it has enough energy to fragment the bullet and cause hmr like damage to the bunnies, i was quite surprised by that. Really its a toss up between ammo price and that extra 50 yrds you get from the hmr. I will keep the hmr for now, maybe sell it and get a hornet but the mach2 really does fill a gap between the .22 and the hmr in my opinion as long as noise isnt a concern. Im very happy with it.
  12. Well i guess thats one way of looking at it and i didnt want to ruffle any feathers. Anyway i just checked my licence and it says vermin/fox and groundgame so next time foxy's going down as the chap has horses and chickens.
  13. I dont doubt they will drop a fox, to be honest though i was quite enjoying watching it digging in the poo. Im also not sure what the general consensus is on mach2 for fox or for that matter whether its on my ticket
  14. They were shot between 10yrds - 90yrds, most of my shots are off a bipod so anything upto around 70yrds ill take headshots, over that its chest shots for me but only because i only have a 8 x 56 on it atm. If I had a little more magnification i would go for headshots at longer range. I got the mach 2 because the ammo is less than half the price of hmr ammo and most of my shoots dont need the extra range of the hmr.
  15. Hi all, havnt posted for a while as ive not been out a lot recently. I treated myself to a marlin .17mach2 the other day and nipped to a stables for a couple of hours. Im very happy with the gun, very accurate and the damage it does to the bunnies is devestating I got 17 bunnies and watched a fox wander around about 30yrds away for 10 minuits, it was a youngster and completely ignored the pile of dead rabits right next to him and instead was digging around in the horse poo. Although im cofident that the mach2 would take foxy out cleanly with a headshot i left him be.
  16. looks like mine was a bargain then at £240!
  17. I have an ags swat 4 - 16 (over £200 not cheap in my book) mounted on my hmr that has this issue, i just put it down to the scope being dodgy and just zero and shoot on x 16 mag all the time.
  18. We were between Newlyn and Lands end. We employed a method to avoid the smaller fish but my friend swore me to secrecy before we went. Its happened before when hes had a good run of fish using a certiain method and someone spots him and within 2 days you got 20 boats doing the same and wipe out the fish in that area in a week or two, it happened last year on the bass.
  19. the peackock belong to the local manor about half a mile away, theyre a bloody nuicense as they eat and rip up everything in the garden and make a hell of a racket all night and in the early hours. Shortly after that photo was taken the walking stick came out and they were encouraged to leave. They wander about in the road and occasionally connect with the trucks that run to and fro from the quarry, but i wont be losing any sleep about that!
  20. thats the way mate, right in the head good shooting. As far as drink and guns is concerned whilst i agree its not a great idea in certain circumstances it may interest you to know that i attended a anual charity clay event and the police granted a license for beer to be sold there so they obviously werent that bothered about mixing alcohol and shotguns. Mind you i didnt drink and kept my eyes open.
  21. I got up this morning and when i looked out of the window i was greeted with an amazing sight, it was like a bleedin zoo!! 2 x pheasant, 1 x squirrell, 1 x magpi and 3 peacocks :( Crappy mobile pic unfortunatly. I thought id show a picture of my biggest pollack to date, we didnt have scales but we were pretty sure it was double figures. My friend and i had half a dozen around this size and it was a great days fishing. At one point we had fish on 3 rods between 2 of us and at the same time my multiplyer packed up it was a like a scene from the 3 stooges or something but we had a good laugh. Cant wait to get out there again.
  22. Got my first squirrel today, it managed to drag the "squirrell proof" bird feeder of its hook and was happily muching away so I decided he had to go! He was so close it ended up getting it in the neck, hoped about 5 feet and droopped. After wrestling it out of its skin i found the pellet, only slight deformation on one side where it must have clipped a bone. gunna look for a recipe now, after all i have been feeding it for months
