  1. Techmoan on YouTube, loads of reviews https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9AE23A7F0C9FDC91
  2. Give THESE a whirl. Custom earplugs £6.99 from eBay. They do work..... I had them for a while but didn't like the muffled sound, like swimming underwater. I use modified sonic 2's now.
  3. Just took delivery of this bad boy for my Hatsan pump..... Its taken from the V3 series chokes
  4. I was on the last stand at 3:10 and they where driving round asking for people to finish
  5. With the exception of these bloody holidays..... Place has been heaving all over the holiday period. Closest I've managed to park has been opposite the paint ball place. Prior to the holidays, you can go any of the days, but Wednesday is the quietest, just go about 1 1/2 hours before closing at the weekend. The busiest area is the practice stands, just go round the main course and stand hop. People will watch, but they wont judge on your ability, sometimes it actually makes you concentrate a bit more.... Quite a few friendlies around who will offer some good advice. I can tell you how to set the stand to send the targets on report when your on your own that's about the extent of my expertise
  6. The 612s has a different rib to the wood and synthetic version. The rib on the 's' remains the same height to the end of the barrel (around 11mm if memory serves, like THIS ), where the others diminish. Very different shooting IMO. I would try and shoot both, as the high rib was no good for me.
  7. +1 for Teague. They're making me a 3/8 ported extended choke for my Hatsan pump (which uses v3 Hatsan chokes). For any Hatsan owners out there interested.....I did also speak to trulock, who said that they are planning to 'reverse engineer' the v3 chokes in the new year
  8. +1 A couple of lessons should be your number 1 priority. I had 3, all with a different gun. Although I still didn't really know which I preferred, I did manage to drop one of my choices straight away. You do really need to try before you buy. I bought the Armsan 612 sporter, cracking gun but I couldn't hit jack with it....
  9. Another huge +1 for Brian Clegg, great guy. Based in Fauxdegella but worth the trip and a nice ground to boot. If its just a quick 'have a go lesson' you want just to see if he likes the sport, then try John Bailey at Worsley (Manchester Clay) he's a top bloke and got me truly hooked.
  10. I didn't say it was true..... just saying what's said on the site HERE Trust me, I'm laughing with you....
  11. According to Shooting UK 2010. Prior to that it was just the 686E
  12. Take a gander at THIS and the video review is HERE I'm going to get one after Christmas, worth the gamble
  13. Cheap alternative on THIS review worth a look Also buy from HERE
  14. I had a Armsan 612 Sporter, really nice gun. Very much like the SX3 in looks. How did you get on with the higher rib? The sporter model has parallel rib (like a trap gun), which I didn't think would affect me much, but 2 rounds of 100 clays I didn't get over 50! I borrowed a friends standard 612 and hit a 66 straight out of the box. The standard model has the usual diminishing rib, which obviously suits me better.
  15. Hi Welcome I shoot at Manchester Clay Shooting (AKA Worsley). So I can recommend there I have shot at Prospect, nice little ground 50 ESP across 5 covered stands and a rifle/archery range. Really nice people who run it. A few grounds that have been recommended to me, but I haven't managed to get there yet are ,Catton Hall, Kingsley Moor, Oak edge and Garlands. Pop them in Google and see if they are within your range I would also recommend Fauxdegla as mentioned
  16. Macavoy's are not showing the 612, but do stock them. 612 Sporting Red 30" £459-00 and also the 612 Camo 28" £489-00
  17. Had a 612s really nice gun. I couldn't get on with it at all, might of been the high rib on the sporter model, but I couldn't hit anything. Nice gun for the money though
  18. Tried some Cheddite UT 28g fibre out the other day and started to have some issues with the semi auto. Reverted back to my usual Hull superfasts and all was fine. It was only when I got home that I noticed the variation in length. What size should a 70mm shell be after crimping?
  19. New addition to the pump club ... Got myself a Hatsan Escort Field Pump..... Quite impressed with the build. 5 chokes, shims and 3 butt pad spacers. I was going for the Winchester SXP, but after reading through several pages on here about the LOP issues and needing 14 3/4" for a fit, I decided against it..... roll on the weekend
  20. For some instant feedback, shoot both on a pattern plate
  21. toxo Copy and Paste this The CPSA Clay Target Shooter’s Handbook into Google and you will be given the PDF file as the first hit. Download it and print it out. Its the first thing I read before I even applied for the certificate. Lots of good info in there, including the info HDAV has given Its not an 'answer all' booklet, but worth reading if your are new.
  22. Ahhh the feeling you get when that certificate lands on your door mat ....... No sooner had mine got snatched from the grasps of the postman, it was in the hands of my local gunshop getting the first purchase stamp on it... Fast forward 8 months and I'm on my 4th gun! So +1 on what HDAV says, fit and a lesson or 2 . Enjoy your shopping.....
  23. I sacrificed our annual holiday this year to get some, and had them installed in June. The fitting company 'should' be able to give you some idea of of how long the payback will take. They use your houses location and average sunlight hours over the last several years, you can do this yourself... Here 'up north' mine was estimated at 5 years. This is based on the energy you generate and get paid for and the money saved on using your own. To give you some idea of money..... June - Aug I had a payment of £256 from the energy company and Sept - Nov £150. During these periods I have generated 2,392 kwh, which I have almost certainly used and not exported to the grid, this equates to £289 if used from the energy company. So from June - November, I have had a payback of £695 in 6 months. Next bill I submit will probably be £100 ish and the the last bill for the 12 month period should reach around £200... After the payback, each year should see you pulling in £700 cash and saving probably a lot more due to increasing energy prices. Your feed in tariff stays fixed by the way, they cant drop it, well after 2034 they can Find out more on it HERE
