  1. I'd recommend getting friendly with a local farmer and decoying over stubbles. The geese in that neck of the woods fly high and are pretty wary hence not much going on there.
  2. Peltor electric ear defenders, you'll never shoot with anything else again

I tend to wear Sealskinz to shoot with as the leather palms and fingers enable you to hold the gun without slippage. And then large warm mittens over the top that you can slip off at the last minute. Not cheap but an amazing combo.
  4. I have a whole ridgeline suit, very good and durable and the hood is great. I wouldn't say it's perfectly waterproof but it's very hard wearing, have fowled in it for the past six seasons and it's still in really good shape.
  5. Hello All, I am looking for a guide to take five of us fowling in the Isle of Skye or North West Scotland around Ullapool next season. If you could private message me with any numbers for guides and any recommendations I would be much obliged. Cheers, OT
  6. Dear All, Some friends of mine and I are researching a fowling trip to Lewis and Harris next season and were wondering if anyone has any contacts up there for accom or guiding? Four or five of us looking for about four days of shooting. Cheers, OT
  7. A mate of mine had a blank trip one year and on our night out at the end of the trip he snogged a granny in a nightclub to make sure he had something in the game book!
  8. I've just edited that Wikipedia page to include wildfowling in the sports section, let's see how long it stays there!
  9. Just a bit of a rant really, Sir Peter Scott was a keen fowler and learned a huge amount of nature out with his gun, yet his Wikipedia entry doesn't mention shooting once, it's ridiculous... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Scott Somehow 'conservationists' imagine that being a fowler and a conservationist are mutually exclusive, which of course couldn't be further from the truth.
  10. I'd just say you're brave to take your wife!
  11. Hi all, I'm on the hunt for some Greylag or Pinkfoot decoys, preferably fold up decoys (FUD). If anyone has any that they're looking to divest of then please let me know. Thanks, OT
  12. Certainly wouldn't be me as I'm too tight to pay for all that hevi shot!
  13. Hi, we had a cracking guide last year in Orkney called Brian, his number is in my game book which I can give you if you call me this evening at about 8:30pm - 07915 668232. That's the only time though as I'm off fowling on the wash tomorrow evening, wohooo!
  14. I have, we shot around the spit just to the North East of Nairn, it's beautiful there and very quiet, the geese fly high so you ideally want **** weather. There are also good beaches further West towards Fort George, but there's an army firing range between the road and the beach so be careful as you might get more action than you bargained for!
  15. Thanks Richie10, that's very very good to know! I was under the impression that you had a right to shoot on the shore. OT
  16. Hi there, I might be interested, but I'm based further South, is there any chance of couriering this item and if so how much would it cost? Cheers, OT
  17. Hi Boys, Late to this thread, just wondering where in the wash you'd recommend heading out from? And is the access easy enough? Cheers, OT
  18. Hello everyone, A group of three friends and I head North to Scotland in search of geese once a year. Due to the long distance this year we're considering heading East to Norfolk or the wash. We are a little concerned that, unlike Scotland where there are very few people, in the South there will be a greater population density and we'll fall fowl (pun intended) of the local trespass and fowling laws. Can anyone give me some pointers as to where might be good to go? And if there are any clubs or associations that we need to contact to seek advice from etc etc. Ideally we'd just turn up to the coast and shoot fowl there, but I'm expecting it not to be that easy. We are prepared to pay for a guide if need be, but would prefer not to for obvious reasons. Also, for the morning flights, do you know of any farmers who like fowlers to go and shoot geese on their land for them? Many thanks in anticipation!
