  1. Was good shooting for only £10. It is only once a year the day after the Beckbury show though. The pub next to it is good too!
  2. Just putting my gun in its case now, good weather today so it should be fun.
  3. 14 inch I think. I am 5ft 11 and it fits me like a treat.
  4. It has got ejectors by the way and no pitting on the barrels. I need the extra space in the gun safe for a new arrival. The stock has been re-finished with true oil. First person to give me £50 gets it, but face to face only.
  5. Fancy a morning or afternoon having a walk round Bobbington, hopefully getting a few pigeons, crows, rabbits etc...?

Let me know if you feel like it, how are you keeping?

    Atb, Richard.

  6. Brilliant post! I always wondered what was involved in preparing deer, biggest I ever did was a rabbit and that ended up looking like it had spilled Mike Tysons pint.
  7. He was desperately funny aswell! Plenty of his real stuff (not tiswas) on youtube though. R.I.P Frank.

    UKIP

The 2 best reasons for voting ukip are the labour party of Blair and his cronies, most of whoom are still there (Cooper, Balls, Harman, Millibands etc), and the fact that David Cameron comes across as about the biggest liar possible, u-turn after u-turn. He chucks money at any terrorist state his little pc media friends tell him to and ponces around acting like he was born to rule over us proles. Let's be frank, with the exception of the lib dems anyone is better than what we have now. By the way, can the welsh painting bloke who is into David Icke tell me why Kris Kristofferson (the singer) is apparently a trans-dimentional, alien lizard man? Having gone to Ickes sites due to the above link, it does not strike me as the workings of a sound and rational mind. Mind you, having said that, vote David Icke, he can't be any worse than the lot we have had for the past 20 years!

    magpies

I use a couple of pellets in an old 35mm film pot, works good with a couple of decoys attacking a false nest with an egg in it or use a bit of road kill instead. I don't shoot a lot of mags when I am out though, they are very wary. As I have a lot of blackbird, sparrow and greenfinch nesting in the trees of my garden I tend to shoot more magpies there, squirrels too as they will go for eggs and chicks. They are a horrible problem these days, so I wish you good luck.
  10. I am going to try this, the only problem is I seem to miss every pigeon going at the moment!
  11. Loads of buzzards circling over Bobbington today, including over the main pigeon roost in the woods across the road from the vinyard. The pigeons don't seem to pay them any attention. I have seen buzzards take rabbits caught unaware and imagine they take pigeons caught feeding on the ground, although I have never seen this happen. I have seen them swoop on decoys and also take those shot pigeons I leave for them. I believe the buzzard to be more of a scavenger and as such presents no problem to pigeon populations.
  12. Gun shoots great in a vice on a 12yd target. This is a working gun that gets rained, snowed and hailed upon, usually knocking squirrels off clients roofs/trees. I will make a note of your advice though, but I don't expect a 20yr old springer to be as sharp as a new pcp costing £1k. At the same time I don't suffer the continuos maintenance costs or get worried by a bit of grit or dropping it. My gun will still be around and be saleable in 100yrs, will a daystate?
  13. Got my old Fwb .22 back from Sandwell field Sports on thursday. It had a re-spring and a general clean/service. Put the scope back on today to zero it in and it shoots beautifully for once. The only problem being I now have no excuses for being a **** shot! I might be sticking with the 12g when I am in company. A big thanks anyway to Tony for getting the old girl straight, worth £35 any day.
  14. 54G BB for your foxes! I suspect you don't have many runners. :o
  15. Oh well, it,s a good buy (for sombody else) Let me know if you get another one like that. All the best.
  16. I am very interested and could collect tomorrow afternoon if the previous buyer falls through, let me know either way. Thanks.
  17. Good stuff mate. I spent 3hrs walking around 700 acres and only got a squirrel to show for it the other day
  18. Bit like swapping an older mercedes benz for a new allegro.
  19. Stick to 25yds maximum, until you fully get the hang of the gun, which won't take you too long. Start with pigeons (head shots) after all there are loads of them, making a pest of themselves, then when you are happy with things, go after squirrels. Be prepared for them not to drop on the first shot, though. Good shooting.
