  1. If you travel a bit further along the M54 to jct 1, there's Millride. £25 for 25 birds inc cartridges on have a go Onsite cafe and toilets I don't work for them lol but my fave site
  2. You could try here http://www.sunglassesforsport.com I've not purchased glasses from them only anti fog solution
  3. That's what I wasn't sure of, how close does the supervision need to be? I was always within 20ft He started shooting the same time I did so it's not like he's a complete novice being given direction on the stand. This was our first competition style shoot and the issue of sharing didnt occur to me before hand. We didn't hold up the line but I was glad it was only a fun shoot.
  4. It was compak and we were next to each other until we ended up at stands 1 & 5, bit of running around then lol. That was meant to be a bit tounge in cheek 😉 My query was more over us being on different stands, with a gun each at the same time
  5. For general practice it's not an issue but the competition threw up something I hadn't considered My lad doesn't live with me so I have a 90min round trip to fetch him for shooting by my house, there are some sites by him we'd like to go to but they don't have section 11 so there's a need to get him a licence anyway
  6. My lad's got some wrap around shooting glasses with interchangeable colour lenses and a perception insert
  7. Thanks HDAV, looks like he'd be covered by part b of the non licence holders section as its a commercial ground and recently police inspected to boot😎 I guess the credit cards Xmas pounding isn't over yet lol
  8. He'll be 16 this year and built like a brick outhouse so don't imagine he'd ever be questioned
  9. I plan to put in for his licence later this year 😉 The ground have section 11 and are pretty easy going so I'll ask next time I'm up. Would both of us shooting at the same time be OK? Sounds like a good excuse to buy another gun lol
  10. I take my lad shooting on my licence at the local ground. At the weekend we took part in a fun competition, sharing my gun. It was a bit of a pain passing mine back and forth, so I'm wondering if, within the terms of the sgc, I could get another gun and he could use it as long as I'm nearby?
  11. Millride Essington Wolverhampton Small but very friendly
  12. This week's video features a response saying the law only states firearms should be kept securely but doesn't say how. Sounds like a cop out because of the flak they got
  13. The item I read a while ago asked, in the doctors opinion if there was any reason to not grant. I could see the doctors potential issue with that but, if the question was as quoted I see no come back to the doctor
  14. I took this from the press release The new BMA guidance still says that GPs may charge for processing firearms licence applications but it re-emphasises that doctors cannot simply ignore the initial contact letter from the police or delay a reply, as this places them at professional risk. So I take it that doctors have to reply. We don't pay for a appointments so why should we pay for the initial response? It'd take the same time slot but with the bonus of the doc having a brew at the same time
  15. According to the latest info, doctors cannot refuse flat, it's their responsibility to find a Doctor who will respond and cannot charge for the initial letter.
  16. Just had this via twitter https://basc.org.uk/blog/key-issues/media-key-issues/basc-welcomes-bma-statement-conscience-firearms-licensing/
  17. I got my sgc last month from staffs, took 14 weeks to land on my mat I missed the call from the FEO and it took a week to get hold of them to book a visit
  18. I bought mine through eBay and very pleased with it. Proud to show it when buying cartridges 😊
  19. I got an sgc grant in 14 weeks from west mids police. It seemed like forever but looking not to shabby in this topic!
  20. This suggests to me that your room is liable to be broken into 😮 I would have thought out of sight in the room would have been better than wandering around advertising
  21. I was shooting at my local ground yesterday and was cleaning up the shells from my SA when a chap with an o/u walked into the stand, loaded and shouldered his gun next to my head! As I take my son with me I'm all over safety, so this this chap hacked me off to say the least! To me SA maybe safer, my safety flag stops the action from closing where as an o/u with cartridges in only needs to be closed
  22. Right handed, shoot left handed and load right handed. I wondered if there was a 'right' way but decided whatevers comfortable was right
  23. I've always thought hearing nothing from the Dr in 3 weeks was dodgy, what if a 'no'got lost in the post?😨
  24. Closed for me too, don't fancy a box of cartridges swinging round 😵
  25. I met up with Salopian this morning for some instruction and had a brilliant time. With his guidance I was soon breaking clays consistently from various types of trap. He took it from the basics, taking nothing for granted checking eye dominance, stance and mount. Then moved on to method of hitting the clays that I 'knew' in theory but honed to make it work in practice. I discovered I think to much about the technical side and need to 'just let it flow' instead. To address one of my original comments, I fired 75 cartridges in an hour today. However I felt like every one counted and taught me something, underneath, in front, behind etc. After instruction I was able to see why I missed and correct it for a hit on the next shot Most importantly I came away feeling like I learned and accomplished a lot Many thanks to Salopian for today!
