I don't ferret but i found out chap swill still do it with leads? I was concerned about the spring growth obscuring the warrens.

Chances are you'll just be standing around lots while the ferrets are fast asleep having eaten a litter of rabbit kits,

I gotta tell you Ditchman, you are one scary dude, If I saw you coming out of my wood shed looking like that I would **** myself and run a mile, I tried metal detecting once, about as exciting as pigeon shooting in Norfolk.

I watched something this week think it was called dig Britain? Showing lots of different areas, well one was three guys metal detecting hour and a half they had one musket ball between then, then beep beep, oops we've found five or six THOUSAND gold and silver coins from Viking times. They had filmed the whole thing it was quite good.

A quick mooch around tonight looking for Branchers and I stumbled across a neat pile of grey Partridge bones with a handful of feathers attached.  It’s was a very neat job with pretty much just keg and wing bones left behind.  Any ideas?

No pictures? Bird of prey was my first thought as well.

  4. I bought an Axsor with the intention of fac in the future, quite a few folk mention the AA510, lots of others mentioned in threads on other pages.

why do you want .22 if you already have a .25 impact? Guessing less power?

A tackle shop in Devon has agreed to display some of the stuff I make. A mate of mine takes his fishing holidays there and has got talking to the owner and after much sending of photo's he asked me to make a small display for his new tackle shop. Its taken me ages, one of the knives I've already posted pics on here.

Even the box took a while to do,.....5aefe9cbd075a_photo(20).JPG.b6c34512170df095c2415bebc4792001.JPG

Quite pleased with it. But my only concern is I am in Essex and my stuff will be in Devon, He hasn't bought any of it. But if a customer comes into his shop and wants one of the items he contacts me and I make one, the stuff in the box is not for sale, but controlling that from Essex is a bit of a worry.

End of the day you have to take risks, I would just be sure to take a deposit for any orders you take, the display looks great if it didn't no one would look, good luck.

  6. very good article, thanks for the heads up and the link.

It's also bang on for what I've found in my own garden, now there are very few if any squirrels about, the birds that come to feed are much more relaxed on the feeders and spend longer on them.

I said around February last year i was going to start shooting squirrels in my garden as i knew they were having an affect on the song birds in my area.

The river bank and surrounding area was squirrel heaven you were guaranteed to see three or four without really looking. Now you may find one but you will really have to look for it.

we've now got loads of song birds about all sorts of tits wrens, robins, nuthatch, finches, pigeons everywhere, at least three nesting in my garden that i know of.

so its working, lots more chance for the birds to successfully breed, just have to start on the magpies now.

I haven't watched it an have no intention of doing so, but as a thought....one way to really upset the antis would be for the riders, hunt supporters, followers et al to be masked also.

They would probably ring the police saying they were scared

It twisted as it went over and opened the doors . I  woke up half in and half in the ditch . Cranked my neck a lot but then I rolled my van 6 years ago at 50mph and damaged my neck again , broke my ribs , damaged shoulder and night mares for years to the point of almost crying.

You should come with a health warning mate, and walk around in one of those zorb balls

Spent Friday morning in the river mersey at low tide near new ferry looking for pieces of the GREAT EASTERN. I've always liked history and especially I. K. B. ISIMBARD KINGDOM BRUNEL. So decided to take Fri off on leave and go hunting for pieces of the great ship. After wading through the mud for about half a hour I came across a piece of encrusted metal approx 18 inches by 7 inches, after knocking of the loose layer I discovered a row of rivets. I bought along a tape measure as I had researched that the thickness of metal used was 1inch and 3/4 and 1/4 inch thick depending where the metal was used. The piece I had found was a portion of decking plate as it was attached to a piece of 4 1/2 inch angle iron which was used against the bulkheads. Got the piece home and cleaned it all up, decided to cut it in half as I want to display the piece in my garage in a cabinet with some photos and info regarding the ship. So if any one wants a piece of the great Eastern I've got one going free all you have to do is clean it up. Sat, Sun, Mon just chilled.

We'll that was certainly different, glad you found a piece.

Keep filling and sooner or later they will return - beginning to wonder if feeding them is actually increasing their numbers - there seems to be an inexhaustible supply of the beasties and it seems impossible to bring them under control for more than a couple of weeks, mind you, it's good fun trying. BTW - got the final tally for the year and it's a bit disappointing - 147 in total with 47 down to me makes me question what the other 5 guns have been doing?

Not going out in the rain and snow by the looks of it, doesn't look like you'll be able to take it easy next year.

  11. Great weekend, happy wife and kids worked Monday night.

we spent Sunday afternoon messing around in sand dunes and throwing pebbles into the sea before an ice cream and chippy tea.

The only blight was the amount of glass and beer cans that had been dumped in the area, funny how folk manage to carry these things when there full but can't manage once there empty ??

  12. strange game this squirrel shooting.

last week fisherUK and another chap spent 6-8 hrs in the woods and never saw a single squirrel? We often see them perched up high out of reach but not often you see nothing, plus feeders had hardly been touched.

That was sat/sun i went Thursday and all 4 feeders were empty no nuts just a touch of grain in the bottom, i saw three and managed one, with fisherUK getting another on the Sunday. All feeders had been used with one being nearly empty, i thought we were just on top of them, now i have no idea, maybe had some move in to fill the void?
