Most shooting grounds I have visited have one way in and out. CCTV could easily cover the entrance to record who comes and goes. Dosn,t stop theft but helps to catch offenders. As far as I am aware I have never seen it fitted anywhere .

The lake in question gets a mixture of all three as a rule, but the numbers of swifts have never been the amount I witnessed this evening and yet not a solitary swallow.

Been for a walk round a large lake in west yorks this evening and never seen as many swifts. Literary thousands,the sky was full. Was like a feeding frenzy over and around the lake. A few house Martin's amongst them but not one swallow. Looks like a good year for the swifts, dont know if others out there are seeing such large numbers

You seem to know a lot about this, so I will ask you another question. Can you explain why the French having clearly seen a vessel leave French waters. Will not allow the occupants of that vessel once on board a UK boat to return to France. Ok let's accept your argument made previously about them refusing a french rescue, so the french backed off for safety issues. However when safely on board the UK vessel no return is allowed. Although it's obvious to the French the illegals left their country.

Vince, I know all about that,I had a house in the murcia region . That area provides most of the UK salad crops. I also know the pickers are nearly all immigrant labour. Mainly morrocan and other north Africans. Many started moving into the village where I had my house and the place started to go down hill, so I sold up and moved further north. Decent homes that the Spanish vacated when the moroccans moved in. It's a massive problem in certain areas as they totally overwhelm the local services. I am generally a supporter of the Tory party and this government. However they are insulting peoples intelligence right now. Firstly they are making a lot of hot air about this new points based immigration system. Secondly they are taking about UK citizens legally entering the country and being put into quarantine with threats of £1000 spot checks and fines. Those policies in isolation make sense. However what's the point of any of it when these illegals are being quietly encouraged to enter the country. The numbers will quickly grow this summer . Furthermore we are talking only of the channel, there are dozens of other routes where the illegal invasion is happening.

I spend a lot of time in Spain. The amount of these illegals landing there is far greater than UK. They are already swapping certain regions and in some reported cases over 60% of the population and growing. They are also making life unbearable and Spanish are being forced out.. This is just the start in the channel, soon there will be thousands a day. The med is a greater expanse of water ,the channel is nothing to these illegals

The UK is not a country anymore. It's basically a destination that everyone in the world can come to and be supported. The country is rapidly becomming a third world latrine. You only have to visit many areas of our large cities and see the downward spiral of deterioration. The way this country has visibly changed in my lifetime is quite astonishing. On another thread someone was discussing emigrating to Australia or NZ. I would say if you are young enough get out now because the UK is rapidly on the way down as a pleasant place to live.

Yes they are cunning critters. I also believe the egg that is laid also resembles the colour and marking of the particular hosts nest. I stand to be corrected if I a wrong on this. However back in the egg collecting days of my youth we found lots of nests with cuckoo eggs and the colour variety was vast. Either all the females eggs were the same design so she restricted her eggs to the host that matched, or she could alter her egg pigmentation to match each nest. Any experts out there ?

Well looking at the scenes on the news this evening, the above seem to be far from a small minority. I can understand why people are questioning the country going into massive debt so many of the above can enjoy an all expenses paid long holiday.

I am not disagreeing with much of what you say . However I can tell you one thing for sure, from my experience of local authorities dont be so sure that they are happy to go to court for such issues. They have to stand the cost themselves and they are always extremely cautious about what they do. If they were aware of a strong trade association with the power to defend their members I can assure you they would think twice. They will act like bullys against soft targets but will be reluctant to take on someone with power and resources. Has it ever crossed your mind how a group of seemingly loan individuals seem able to flout planning laws all over the UK. It's because they know that every case they take these individuals appear to have bottomless funds and resources to fight them and that's why they back off. Our sport should organise itself and stand as one. Neither would I, that looks a fair enough price. Sounds like a ground worth supporting

Well just been out and about this lovely sunny afternoon. Thousands of kids out and about in large groups. All opened shops massive queues outside. Retail car parks rammed full. Loads of other groups walking cycling etc. Everyone seems to enjoying an holiday in the sun. Everything I saw today simply goes against the perception there is a virus about . So if we get another spike we will know why. However if we dont get a spike after all I have witnessed today then many will be saying we have totally over reacted. We shall soon find out.

Here is just a thought. Any shooting ground that operates under the CPSA ought to have legal liability insurance to fight such instances. Again being relatively new to this sport this is one thing I cant understand.Surely the CPSA could offer insurance cover for such circumstances. Once they did that I am sure as a sport the cpsa could protect grounds with this cover. It would only need one group of locals to empty their pockets pursuing a fight they could not win and the word would get around. All cpsa clubs should stick together and not let nimbies try and pick them off one by one. Am i wrong thinking this is not the case
