  1. Respect to you 👍I will never get near what you have achieved. I am in it as an enjoyable pastime and hobby. I am not a tight sod, far from it but I dont support anyone taking liberties and I believe a minority of shooting grounds do. As this thread developed and talked about the inevitable recession , I believe and hope the grounds that are more reasonable in their pricing structure have the bext chance of survival.
  2. Tight choke, I respect what you say to a certain extent as I am no where near as good a shooter as yourself from what I know. Neither I am in anyway as experienced. However your argument only stands for sporting. After all what in your opinion is a good target ,could be a poor target to someone else. There is only one fair way to compare grounds and that is by looking at the disciplines Just looked at Orston 33p to practice the disciplines Compare that to the grounds below Beverley 28p Northern ctc 24p Nottingham gun club 28p I would therefore say Orston are charging over the odds.
  3. How far would you let them push you and exploit you in order to keep them going ? 50p a clay ? I know one place who would apply do that if people were daft enough to pay. TC I would be interested to know what you pay in respect of each ground.
  4. I think my views are well known. I agree what you say in some respect but in my case would say Use the good uns, boycott the greedy so an so,s
  5. Looking at the website it works out at £23 per 100 Clay's. One thing you can say is that they are not trying to fleece shooters like some places.
  6. That's only one stand, it has 15 traps, covered stand ,computerised acoustics plus the fancy concrete trench. You could build a sporting set up for the cost of that alone. There is more than one range plus at least a dozen other ranges all under cover,UTR, ABT,and about 5 dtl ranges, plus the several skeet towers. Then there is some sporting layouts. There is no way whatsoever that any English sporting ground would cost anything near the set up at Beverley. Plus its run to full international standards ! You lot down south dont realise what you are missing out on 😉
  7. Like I said Gordon, may be I was a tad harsh. But I dont see why any ground should charge 30p and beyond for practice. If you can go to a cracking ground like Beverley and they can put on Olympic trap at 28p , that to me is the bench mark for a top ground that gives value for money. However grimsthorpe seems to have plenty of supporters so , I will go down and give it a go over this summer.
  8. I dont doubt it but I have shot this morning at 24p, had a caddy and got a very friendly welcome. It's just that I am a tight Yorkshire man and quite often think through my pocket. What I could not understand is the reduction of 2p per clay at a cost of £225. Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but I will always try and give my business to people who work their hardest to earn it.
  9. Just looking at their website 32p per clay but you can get that reduced to 30p if you pay £225 per year membership ! Not a place that I will be visiting.
  10. That's interesting, are you saying you have the powers of a constable. You seem to be suggesting by the above comment that you can enter a dwelling and search it when ever you feel like it, is that correct ?
  11. Just out of interest, there is more than one government here. The national one that only seems to have power over England and the other three . Right now they all have different policies but can anyone answer this. The Welsh and Scott's are choosing to remain in lockdown ,rarther than trying to open up their economies. My perception of both is that they despise the English and cant wait for total independence. However whilst they are still sitting tight they seem happy for the English return to work to fund it. Do they stand the cost themselves or does the wider UK pay for their prolonged lockdown.
  12. LZ Which one is that please.
  13. I am more of a traditionalist, I will be using a lovely antique thimble

I am far from being IT knowledgeable, but I have often thought who really knows what is buried deep down in many of the popular types of software. Remember WW2 when we cracked enigma. Many instances of knowing a potential event could not be acted upon for fear of given the nazis suspicion we had it cracked. I am with you I believe the capability is already there .
  16. Totally agree TC Thought by all the doom and gloom they were pedaling ,they would never be proactive and get things moving.

Well guys, one thing is for sure . Putting all the rights and wrongs to one side, this pandemic has a large price tag. I am certain tax increases and spending cuts will happen. However I can think of one spending plan we could ditch that will make a reasonable reduction in spending. Scrap HS2 ,bet they won,t and will still find the money for that from somewhere

Well just reading various stuff about how we are going to pay for all this. Various political commentators suggesting various measures and everyone is quite frightening. One thing is for sure, the vast majority of the population are going to suffer financially in a big way.
  19. Thanks for the reply Henry Looking at the 4.5 gun do you know if it was altered or improved on later ships. The reason I ask is my son served on HMS Edinburgh during second gulf war and it looks identical to the one fitted to that ship. It also looks identical to ones on later destroyers and frigates. He did say during the conflict a sister ship went in close to the shore to give fire support to land forces. The gun malfunctioned after a few minutes. The ship had to withdraw and a second sailed in to provide fire support. The gun on that second ship malfunctioned and had to withdraw. The edinborough then had to go in to complete the task and that gun remained functional.
  20. Yes read the NRA website this morning and saw that. Far more positive than the negative outlook being peddled by the doomsters at cpsa.
  21. Had a ride out to bempton cliffs today. The seabirds breeding at the moment are one of natures fantastic sights. Place was extremely quiet. However driving back through bridlington seemed busy
  22. Good on em 👍looks like the are quite happy to run their business as they see fit and not wait for the cpsa to grow a pair.
  23. This is the point I was trying to make. The large commercial grounds are like any other business and should be more than capable by interpreting the rules and recommendations and operating as safely as possible. In fact by their very nature, they should be far more safe than thousands of other businesses that are operating. Golf are up and running already. By the post regarding erswell lodge it looks like they and probably others were ready to go. However for some reason the cpsa have bottled it and put the brakes on. The government have made a clear statement ,seems the cpsa are now looking for reasons why they shouldn't open. Why dont they sit back ,let the grounds get on with it and run their businesses like they are capable of doing.
  24. Think the insurance issue is purely an imaginary thing, brought about by the how general way of thinking has been altered in this snowflake society. If it was true there is no way buses, taxi and train companies would be operating.
