  1. I need to take delivery of a rifle and mod by RFD transfer (2 different sellers) I have spoken to Lambert and Wiltshire, Tal Arms, Forward Diving, Modern and Antique firearms and John March. They all Want £30. So thats £60 just to accept a delivery and sign it over to me. I am all for supporting local gunshops and try to by ALL my equipment, guns, ammo, clothing etc from local gunshops and avoid firms like sportsman if I can possibly help it. I understand they have overheads and have to turn a profit but £60 to take delivery of 2 items and fill in a ouple of slots on my FAC is in my opinion taking the ****. I could understand if they were losing a sale because I was buying elsewhere but they are not! I have tried to find a remington 22-250 and DM80 mod locally but to no avail. Anyone know of anywhere more reasonably priced or a part time rfd who would do it for a bottle of something nice or a crate of beers??
  2. Well it has taken 2 requests, the first was turned down about 6 months ago so I thought whilst my FAC was in to have a 22-250 added I would ask them to remove condition that land be cleared on my HMR and FAC shotgun. I said I was happy for the condition to remain on the 22-250 as its my first CF and I knewe there was no way they would open it up. So that 2 years before first renewal. It all came about because I realised that I could only legaly use my Section 1 shotgun on cleared land. My FEO agreed that was quite restrictive. Should open a few more doors

  10. Tomorrow morning I am collecting my Browning 525 from #### following the damage caused to the barrels after being dropped. This has got me thinking. I have several thousand pounds worth of shotguns, rifes and scopes, none of which are insured. Our house insurance does not cover damage to sporting equipmemt when in use or out of the home. Has anyone taken out a policy just to cover their guns? Sporting Insurance Services will provide- - Loss of or damage to your sporting gun(s) and accessories - worldwide - £5,000,000 personal liability (on top of any cover provided by BASC, Countryside Alliance etc) - £20,000 personal accident cover - £300 personal shooting effects - worldwide - Legal Helpline They will cover my Browning 525, HMR, Mossberg, 22-250, MTC viper and a S&B 8x56 (supposing I opt for the schmidt!) for £110pa. What are your views?
  11. I arrived and within 200 yards of driving onto the farm a fox ran infront if the car in broard daylight. Within an hour i had need 8 foxes! It was dusk and there were several people walking their dogss I went to another of my shoots to have a walk around so it would be dark when I went after the foxes I quickly bagged 3 bunnies to use as bait. I went back to the first farm and flashed the lamp over the field were I had seen 3 foxes earlier on. I was met by pair.s of eyes! It turned out to be 4 roe and 2 foxes. I started to squeek using my foxcalluk. The foxes just sat and looked in my direction. I would say they were about 80 yards away. I cycled the bolt on the rifle and using a bit of pipe lagging foam I ripped from the piece i was using as a rest over the drivers window and used it on the window to try and call them in. All this time it was raining lightly then as I was gettingh comfortable the heavens opened!!! The rain made it impossible to see as the light form the lamp refracted off everything and my scope lense was covered in droplets. It does look promising for duture visits though! Whats even better is that it is less than 1/4 of a mile from my house There are hundreds of pigeons there but the old lady who owns the farm has asked me not to shoot them as one of her friends feeds them everyday with corn bought from another farmer! As I am new to fox shooting with a lamp (I have used NV in the past on a CF and didnt need to call them in) Im not sure about the best way to go about it. - Do I call constantly or call then wait? - How loud should i be calling? the caller i was using can go very loud but the foxes were only at 80 yards and just seemed to sit and watch me. - I assume i should be downwind and only use the lamp to stot them and shine it above their heads so i just catch the eyes. It was pretty tricky as i was on my own and using a crappy handheld lamp. I have a scope mounted LF 170 on its way to me that i am going to fit a dimmer too. Im toying with the idea of making up a roof mount for the truck using suction cups. Any help would be really appreciated!
  12. They shouldnt be (fingers crossed! never been shot at and its a farm in a fairly built up area so they are rural/urban foxes.
