Where in France are you headed Dannyboy, you could try speaking to the mayors office for a local shooting agents information? If rural France then there is a good chance they can let you know if there is something you could do even if it's a couple of hours of clays one morning. If you are anything like me it would be a welcome distraction and worth taking the gun for.
