Firearms on the way to the permission
roadkill replied to roadkill's topic in General Shooting Matters
these are just questions, this time last year i was a part time shooter ( once in a blue moon) now I'm running a shoot but still very much a novice, so these are just the unknown i have had in my head from day one and information is hard to get, so all i really want is best practice. Its no hardship putting in bolts and mags at permission but i wondered what the actual law is on it jamie -
i could always blag it i'm sure as my truck is full of chicken wire, sheep electric fence wiring and normally a bag of feed, whos to say that i was dropping the kids off and heading straight to the farm. But to be honest i would rather stay on the good easy none hassle side of the law.
-
yep thats what i do at the minute, thanks for the help as last thing i want is to upset the law jamie only when going to the farm though its fine
-
so stick to what i'm doing and only have it with me when doing shooting and work at the farm?

What is the law on driving to your permission with firearms in the car, Are they ok to have bolts in and magazines in with rounds in the mag but none in the chamber?

would like some advice on the knife law and keeping the right side of it. So am i ok to keep this knife in my shooting truck that i use to go my normal work pick the kids up and also between other activities run a shoot which takes most my time up, i am forever removing stuff like this from the truck as not to fall foul of the law, problem is when i need it i usually leave it at home.. knife in question

I have fitted a lamp onto my scope but it is giving me glare when i look in the scope, i think its the mod that is causing this. Does a sock work on the mod and where is a good cheap place to buy these?

the shoot boss has asked for some more birds to this years order and would like them going into an old pen that wasn't going to be used this year, the birds are due august the 8th and i was wondering if it was to late to lime the old pen, as i wouldn't want to use it without being limed first

We're the same as charlie, all of the land is contracted out to a farmer (1000 acres) he is unable to shoot or give anyone permission to shoot on the estate same as the farmer who rents the grass parks for his sheep

You don't need to break the rifle down, as long as you remove the moderator, magazine and bolt you will be fine. Quick wipe down of all exterior parts with an oily rag and a few patches through the barrel should keep a 17hmr happy -
