I have been looking for a night vision set up so I can tackle some rats. I have seen one on the well known web site called " Ratta". It is on at £125, which seems quite reasonable. I dont want to pay out £500 for a set up as I only have a few rats. Has any one tried this IR add on?

Hey guys, I'm in the market for some night vision gear and was wondering everyones thoughts and opinions on what you've maybe used, or seen in real life. There is a new ATN sight coming out thats a 4K sensor that records in 1080p and can stream the same time, scope also can be used at day, I've also had a look at Nite Site Viper, with it being 100 yards thats plenty for small vermin shooting. Any thoughts, opinions or ownership advice is as always, very much appreciated.

Also includes additional Laserluchs 5000 laser IR illuminator, although the built-in illuminator is already very good. £700, plus postage...

I have decided to sell my night vision as I am going head down the route of a day scope addon. The scope has been used a maximum of 5 times in absolute mint condition, everything works as it should and is a very good budget nv set up. I will also include the DVR within the price and RMSD. The DVR is unused. The photon is fully boxed with original receipt I bought it secondhand but was never used. You won't be disappointed and this is cheap. £250 posted RMSD

Well ive just come back from a group called WELLIES for sport. they asked us to go down and host a target range for there users with disability's. So off we went and set up a range in a old brick warehouse a farmer offered us to use when we need it. Pitch black donated us 4 new pitch black units and nite site gave us a few ns50 for the event as well as our sponsor andrew huggett of huggett mods. what a day it was there was smiles everywhere and alot of very good shots. it was a pleasure to teach them to shoot on the range and they have now asked us if we can do a 10 week project with them. Just a few pics of the day. This is what the raffle we are hosting is for so that we can do alot more days like these. With out the support we recive from outside sauce's and members of the public this would not be possible

I am looking at getting a pulsar digisight 750 for rabbiting with a ruger .22. Can anyone tell me their experience with these sights. I have been offered an extremely good deal by our farm manager so long as I get out when he asks. But I dont want to shell out unless its worth buying and is up for the job. Lamping used to work on our ground but it seems someone has overdone it, a week or so ago I went out and it was obvious they were proper shy of any light at all. Any thoughts most welcome

Well, here it is, mk.3 of my DIY night Vision (or is it mk.4, I'm losing track!). I've nicknamed it the OhmLaut 400, partly a play on my name, partly a bit of a nod to all the reading and refreshing I've had to do on Ohm's law in order to make sure everything worked as it should and nothing goes pop! And finally, a realistic indication of the useable range, summer or winter (in summer you can see a lot further with less suspended moisture in the atmosphere reflecting back the IR light). Same camera and viewer as all my other builds but I've managed to work out how to remotely run the buttons so I can have the brightness and contrast controls wherever I want them. Also, the replacement buttons are a lot more robust than the originals, so can take a bit more abuse. I've also come up with my own IR torch, which uses an aspherical lens and a simple, push/pull system to go from focus to flood. In reality the user can simply dim the IR light when switching from distant to near quarry without having to adjust the torch. The lens and torch gives a wider picture at distance, so causes less hot-spotting than the Dereelight x-searcher and can be refocused easily to blend out the lines from the emitter so there is less banding in the viewer. The torch is driven by the night vision unit itself, plugging into the front of the controls and is supplied by the same 12v supply. The unit has now done away with linear regulators and the like, so no heat to dissipate, no wasted power converting 12v into other voltages, giving maximum efficiency from the li-ion stock mounted battery. The specifications are: • 12v DC supply • Built in 12v dimming driver for the IR torch goes from 0% - 100% so there is no need to restrict the objective of the scope to prevent flaring and hot spots • Push/pull fast focus to flood IR torch driven from 12v supply • Genuine eye level viewer with focus adjustment (not a DVR with a loupe over the screen!) • 640 x 480 resolution screen • Brightness control • Contrast control • Simple on/off above eyepiece • Video out for recording I'm now working on the next version, which should condense a lot of the features and result in a shorter body (by some 25-30mm), which will give even better eye relief. Footage recorded in Summer is here. I'll be recording some more soon enough as this version now has video out.
