malkiserow
I've got my old air rifle out of the cupboard and thinking I should use it .... It is a Feinwerbau Sport 127 mark 2 and in 0.22 caliber. It has old sights and no moderator. I want to use it for certain bunnies that are too close to stables for my shottie and for target shooing in the garden (I've a very safe place in my garden to do this  ) Should I put on a moderator and if so what? What scope should I put on? :o Is the gun worth the effort? I bought it from an airgun enthusiast who had it tuned etc when I bought it 15 years ago we put it through the chrono to ensure it was sub 12 ftlb. I am a shotgun user really and know very little about airguns. Any advice for the old gun? BTW what it worth? Cheers, Malkiserow
hendersons
Don't bother with the moderator if it is a springer. It's the spring that makes all the noise and the mods make so little difference you are better off saving the money. As for scope remember you will probably be shooting around 30yds so it doesn't need to be anything spectacular despite what people will have you believe may i reccomend a BSA essential as these represent good value with good quality. The one thing you will need is good quality mounts because of the movement you get when using a springer. Just done a quick search on google and it seems that if it is in good condition it is worth about £180 so probably worth the effort. tosspot
If and when you take the iron sights off this fine gun, please please please put them somewhere safe, these guns are appreciating in value as they are arguably one of the finest break barrel air rifles made, a good many surface without their original sights which is a pity as they shoot amazingly well with open sights. ps agree about the mod too, pretty pointless leave it in original trim it will retain its' value better, quite collectable now if in good order prices will start from £150+++( have seen em with period glass for double that and selling too)

huntercarbine
stick an old tasco scope on it, something like a 4x40, then you'l have a proper old school shooting settup, plus the old tasco's are super quality. any pics of the gun, plenty of us like the old stuff.

The old scope was a "Fontaine" 4 X 32 but the reticule does not adjust and seems to free float.... Were these any good? When the gun was tuned it had another piston fitted (anyone any ideas what that might be? :o ) But I have the original piston and seal as a spare. Very interesting replies coming, thanks I had not realised the rifle was so well thought of.
Dead-Eyed Duck
I used to have a matching pair of FWB Sports in 0.177 and 0.22, and shot hundreds of rabbits with the 0.22. I've been trying to get hold of a decent one in 0.177 for years. You are a fortunate man - probably the best break barrel springer made. Full power and very easy to cock due to the very long, soft spring Don

Ozzy Fudd
im gonna be a spoil sport... and you probly know this, but dont get carried away with its capabilities. i did once with an old weirauch .22 springer when i first started hunting, i was left in the position with a moving/wounded rabbit 30ish yards away, messed up the first shot and couldnt get a clear head or chest shot to finish it, and i had no way to get to it as it was on the far side of a large hedge/ditch/stream. i hate saying this but i had to keep putting shots into it until i killed it - after that i got rid of the gun, and ive never put myself in the same position again. the advice id give is practice, practice and practice. also, for any shot you take, make sure that you can get to the target easily to wring its neck if need be, unlike a shotty you have to be alot more precise with your shot placement and dont have the same power to rely on thats my 2 pence worth, but have fun, its a great looking gun, good luck Edited November 27, 2009 by babbyc1000
tosspot
Sorry babby, coz you had a bad experience, either with a worn out gun or as an inexperienced shooter at the time, you can't dismiss the air rifle as useless for hunting coz that is absolute twaddle. just my two pence worth

bruno22rf
I'm with magman on this-wrap it up, well oiled, and keep it cos these certainly are never gonna drop in value. These are top quality guns that were made to last and can be tuned to the limit with ease-i used a tuned one many years ago and was amazed at the experience of the pellet striking the target before the gun kicked-if you dig out very early airgun mags you will see that a lot of writers used this gun .If i were in your shoes i would buy a cheap hw80 or 77 and save the Feinwerkbau for a rainy day. snipper
air gun porn get it used and enjoy it but look after it ............. in that condition its worth £200 + all day long if you want to put a silencer on use the webley pro system ... it just slips on and dispite people saying it does'nt make any differance on a springer ...... it does . it takes the crack off the muzzle ... ok the action makes a noise but it will been right next to your ear snipper

jackinbox99
Excellent condition by the looks of it. If these are going for £270, my vote would be to sell it off and buy something else to mess about with. It would be gutting to get this out in the field and damage it or something accidentally.
