henry c
Does anyone have any experience of 9mm shottys or 'Garden Guns'? What gram loads do they fire? Do they have any practical use or is it just a rat gun, as often described? Any oppinions would be nice, thanks!

mattslaptop247
I'm after a 9mm. Used to have one but sold it to peterpeter. They take long brass cartridges and fire what is reffered to as "pepper shot" Theyre ok for use in barns etc so they dont damage anything, will take out a rat, or the odd roosting pigeon. If anyone has one for sale let me know!
MC
I have a bolt action .22 shotgun. It takes .22LR shotshells with 1/15oz (2gr) of no.12 shot approx 165 pellets. I have shot several rats with it. Cartridges are very expensive though at £4.75 for 20.

DaveB916
I am kucky enough to own a fully moderated 9mm garden gun, it is currently away having the firing pin fixed, cracking little gun close up on rats and pigeons. Also very quiet, very much along the kines of an air rifle. Cartridges £10-£12 for fifty depending on quality/shot size. Dave B

Love to have little garden gun for our rats! Edited December 2, 2009 by Markio

lasbrisas
I'm interested in something like this, so they are ok on your shotgun licence and you can use them in your garden as I have a squirrel problem.

They're great fun but not terribly practical being somewhat fiddly to load and the ammo is comparatively expensive. Most go on your SGC but watch out as some are less than the minimum legal barrel length and therefore require a FAC.

Also seem to be quite hard to get hold of, only a handfull on guntrader, would shops keep the ammo or would they order it I wonder.
Joe99
I've never had to order any in specially, always been in stock. I've seen 9mm Flobert cartridges on stalls at game fairs etc. To be honest I find I don't use the gun that much; either when someone has a rat problem in an area where only this gun will do or I just fancy pratting about with it. I've had the same 3 boxes of ammo in the cupboard for the last 2 years.

You'll find a selection of 9mm garden guns on there. Just be aware though that unless you re-load the cartridges with steel shot you'll be leaving lead pellets in the ground for the chucks to pick up. An air rifle might be a better option.
