though it brings a smile to me it does remind me that last week outside the office there was one of these maky feral pigeons looking the worse for wear, had it been private I would have despatched it and put it out of its misery but where it was I knew it would be mis understood so left it which have to say I felt guilty for. But hey saves spending 10 hours in custody

'Given the manner in which he killed the pigeon and the time and place of the killing, it was clearly in the public interest to prosecute him.'

Funnily enough that last bit is exactly what the judge said to me when I was dealt with for my mishap. It's never right! Funny how if he'd have battered a 5 year old kid with his skateboard the court wouldn't even consider locking him up in line with "the public interest"!

What a plonker! I can see where the lad's coming from but he's not going about things in an ideal way is he? Either way I think a conditional discharge and a fine is a bit extreme, why not just caution him? Chucking the Pigeon away seems to be his main concern, poor guy!

Don't really get what the whole comotion is about.

These feral pigeons in towns and in my farmyard spreading EColi (yes they carry it in their guts and poo on cow food, cow gets EColi and in extreme cases dies) etc are nothing more than flying rats.

Don't people regularly trap or poison rats etc.

Probably going to cause uproar with this post, but there you go.

EDIT: Although grabing pigeons in the a town centre and ringing their necks is probably not for the average person walking down the street to see. So a caution was probably all that was needed.

I believe that one day a week should be devoted to killing pigeons in towns.

There should be a prize awarded for the most original method employed i.e.SKATEBOARD.

It should also become a criminal offence to feed the filthy things.

What punishments should they receive?

Ahahaha the comments below the story are priceless

"Animals are not ours to treat as we wish, they deserve respect whether for eating or not. He got off too lightly with only 85 pounds and a conditional discharge, I hope his criminal record haunts his job prospects forever because that's the least he deserves."

the interviewer asks him what he done "erm i killed a pigeon with my skateboard"

"well that shows your sense of creativity i think....."

Its an absolute joke, i agree he should have just gotten a caution, it makes this country look pathetic tbh.

There are other serious crimes happening and they go after a person who killed a pigeon..

typical responses from people who don't know where food comes from. However the manner in which he killed the animal was a little daft.

Crime of the century I think not.

I love the comment "I feel sorry for the pigeon, and the ones shot" Bless. what about the chickens sitting in the dark covered in **** with no space waiting to get a bolt in the head???

grrrr having a bad day already today, not in the most tolerent of moods

I'm looking for a skateboard, not sure what calibre is best, I might consider rollerblades as an alternative.

Any suggestions?

Shateboards can become a little unstable on pigeon hunts so make sure that the one you chose has a QD stud so that you can fit a bipod for added stability, after all you would not want to cause the pigeon any suffering by a "wayward blow" and end up in court would you!
