libs
A stuntman friend of mine had it done about 6 years ago. From what I remember he said he could see better straight away, and had perfect vision after 4 hours! By the sounds of things its a good idea. shaun4860
A couple of my friends have had it.... both reported great results (both used to wear glasses full time), now they only use them for reading but they are both over the moon with the results shaun
Paladin
My Sister had her eyes done and no longer needs to wear glasses full time, she only needs reading glasses. It seeems strange to me as i've only ever seen her with glasses on over the past 50 years. Have a consultation or two and see if your a suitable candidate for corective surgery Paladin

100milesaway
I went for a consultation and both the receptionist and the nurse were wearing glasses, i've heard good and bad reports. Chap from clay shooting ( Richard Rawlings ) i think had it done and I think he said it was OK, but i've heard others say it only lasted for a couple of years and then their sight started to malfunction again.Pays your money takes your chance. from Auntie
Bigweed
Had it done just over a year ago and well please. Had -5 in one eye and -5.5 in the other. Took 10 minutes and had 20/20 vision within half an hour. Still got 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. Well worth it
HW682
Martin2 this is something I have been looking into as well (no pun intended). Do a search because there was a similar thread a while ago on this subject. HW682
philm
Phoned up a couple of weeks ago to have mine done. They said if you only need glasses for reading it was "age related" and was'nt worth having surgery because I would need glasses again after about one year. Martin2
i might go to moorfields for a consultation, but i hear they want 4 grand for the surgery will post a reply if i have it done cheers
steve0146
I had it done about two years ago. It's the best thing i have ever done. It cost nearly 4 grand but now have perfect vision and no problems. You get what you pay for. Being awake while someone cuts a flap off your eye and adjusts your vision is a bit mental but didnt hurt. You can smell the laser opening your eye though! Go for it, i have a much better quality of life now.
Ricko
Joe Simpson (the climber) describes the procedure in one of his books, "...the smell of burning tissue." etc etc Ugghh!! Seriously a colleague had it done and now can't drive at night due to vision problems
Dunkield
It has been covered before a few times, I had mine done about 7-8 months ago now and couldn't be happier with the results - and my eye weren't that bad before. Do plenty of research, talk to people who have actually had it done, preferably a while ago, not the 'bloke down the pubs brothers mate said...' and then make your own mind up, you will have to live with the results. andythechicken
Just like to post my comments. Two years ago I have laser eye surgery with Optical Express. A friend of mine had done loads of research and she said it's not really who you go with but it's the surgeon that matters. She had been to the Bluewater Optical Expresss clinic, and so I went along to be checked out. Due to an eye injury I'd had when I was 22 they referred me to one of their own specialist in central London. Not a problem as I work there some of the time. Anyway given the all clear for Lasek with wavefront. Lasek is the more invasive when they dissolve the cornea use the laser then put a protective clear contact lens patch over. The bad points are that the Lasek hurts like hell and the surgeon did say I'd hate him for 24-36hours and he was right. Basically lay on the bed eyes closed for 24 hours taking the eye drops as required. After 5 days vibility was great and allowed to drive. Have to say after 2 years now eyesight is 20/20 whereas before the op I had been -2.75 and -2.50 with quite a lot of anstigmatism. Can't recommend it enough. Remember though investigate the surgeon. Mine had done over 28,000 operations. Can't fault Optical Express although commercialised they gave very good aftercare. About a year ago I scratched the cornea whilst gardening. I went to see them because of the pain, they gave me free treatment as well as daily consultations for 5 days to check the eye was healing. Ricko
Oh I suppose the only other thing that springs to mind... A lad I was at college with (over 15yrs ago) had them done one at a time (with 18 months between operations) because he couldn't afford to have them done in one go!!! reddan
I have thought about it but the fact they can still count the worldwide number of operations in their advert make me think they haven't done enough yet. I have just got some new contacts and they are great. I can sleep with them in and change them once a month. In the 13 years of wearing lenses these are miles better then any others I have had.
